Glad you had a fun trip. I took my morning jogs around the park and hit lighthouse point. It looked pretty nice, but... Breakers for life. I love it there. -

They're fixing it up in-house. It's going to be a full refurbishment after being sadly neglected over the years. It's all being done by hand. There's a display off to the side of the ride entrance with several informational boards explaining the history behind the Batmobile and the extensive process to restore it to its original glory. -
Yeah... I think we all did............ The tiering thing has been there for years as a part of their actual business strategy. At one point, not so long ago, it was corporate's plan to make some large improvements to SFSTL and bump it up into the next of like 3 or 4 tiers, but clearly that didn't work out.

^Bruh. I was wondering where you were. I just hope they don't cut down every piece of vegetation in the immediate area around the tracks. If I remember correctly, ZZ was surrounded by trees, right? That was about 30 years ago, so it's hard to say. -
I can understand that. In my early 20's the city seemed more innocent. I visited nice areas, and the blinders were secured firmly to my face. There are very fun areas in the city, but the raiders are always paying visits. I'm 37 now, and I've seen a lot. The lawlessness has exploded since 2014. When I do to take my family into the city, I do so with law abiding protection and I'm always alert.

Best inquiry ever into the park! You bribed your husband with turkey legs! I'm sure they go well with a cold beer. At Six Flags Saint Louis, the turkey legs are so good they're worth fighting for. -
I feel like maybe we were on the same page, with a miscommunication. *Off topic* But, I disagree with one point. Saint Louis is a shithole. I live here. It is FAR from a wonderful city. Crime rates, depression, happiness, infrastructure... Aside from a decent handful of attractions for tourists and locals, it's a nice place to visit, but a bad place to live. We rarely go downtown, and we leave the general Saint Louis area by mid-afternoon. You have to be selective and smart about where you go, and what routes to take. Building wonderful zoo's doesn't take away from the cancer that continuously spreads from the inner city, going north and east. It crosses the river into one of the most dangerous areas in the country being East Saint Louis. People keep moving further and further away from the city, just to get away from the growing chaos. Remember, we were the beginning of the nationwide anti-police riots. It didn't escalate because it was in a sleepy area. It escalated, because it was already in a war zone, and the incident was a spark to make the fire. I just started a job with a 10k pay cut away from the North Saint Louis area. It's a nicer bedroom community, because it's more isolated. It chooses to have no entertainment district draw to bring people in. There's no draw for non-locals. It's where we're moving in a couple years. The problem with my old job is that North Saint Louis came right across our bridge into Illinois, and made a bad town much worse. Kind of like when a soccer mom is driving home, and has a handful of criminals jump out and point AR rifles in her face trying to take her car. They came from right across the bridge, and went right back. The same place they come from when they steal cars, or play shoot-em-up on the weekends in the bar district. 20 years ago it hadn't made it this far, but it's there now. My boots are on the ground here, so don't tell me otherwise. *End rant.

I think it can be applicable to a lot of scenarios, but Kansas City isn't a small metropolitan area. I'm not advocating for anything 200 feet. I just think they could have used something a little more edgy. Something along the lines of a Raptor, or even Timber Wolf RMC. -

I can't say for certain, but I would imagine a day in September isn't very busy at HW. Especially since the water park is open, which is a huge draw. -
Chicago, and Illinois, is going down fast. After a lengthy investigation involving the majority of the involved parties being uncooperative, the shooters will probably get 3 hard months of juvenile detention center time, where they watch movies and attend counseling sessions. They may even get a couple months of probation after that, before this gets expunged from their record. That's really not even a joke...

Had this ride been added ten years ago, I would consider it throwing WoF a bone, but not after 13 years. Not when it's the second coaster in 18 years. The ride looks neat, and will probably be fun as hell. I like the throwback element. But, can anyone just admit WoF could have probably used something a bit more exciting after their long coaster drought? Granted, it's not supposed to, but this isn't going to get me to drive 5 hours to the park. -

Maybe the new premium experience can include putting some fiberglass horses on the carousel and calling it a day. Or, we can just leave it SBNO until we push a Flying Turns timeline. -
Sometimes I like to pretend like harsh realities don't exist, too. It makes me feel like a better person, and I can lecture others about their ignorance. No one is saying there aren't greater societal issues that exist worldwide, but it's not up to Six Flags to change that. They can't be blamed for recognizing that low income has a direct repeatedly confirmed association with violent crime, and adapt their business strategy toward the prevention of violent crime within their parks. It's a stupid analogy, but go to Walmart and go to Target. Which one has higher prices. Which one has more pleasant clientele.

*Double post due to delay* Right, but there's one thing... No one who goes to Magic Mountain knows, or gives a shit that Six Flags Over Texas got a new ride style before them. "Stratification" seems to exist when you compare parks like Magic Mountain to Saint Louis. Or, are they both getting cutting edge attractions? I bet you would know how to handle the business better for the long run. You seem to have it all figured out, right?

I really like the overall picture of keeping unruly kids out, and offering a higher quality family product that comes at a higher price tag. Which swimming pool do I want to go to? The public pool for $2 a person? Or, the $100 a month private pool family membership, where everything is well maintained and the people respect each other? If you act like a shit, your membership is revoked. Better product. Higher price. I get it. I want it. But, typically that would come with improving the product first, then raising the prices to meet the improvements. They can't hike the prices and justify it by saying they're offering 'less' shitty food, and less people will be at the park. "We planted four new flower beds, painted the shitters, and took away a family event. Pay more and come to our park!"

The days of carelessly putting my hands up on coasters ended in 2020 with rotator cuff repair surgery from a sports related injury. Unless it's something like a B&M floater, I keep my hands down. It doesn't change the enjoyment for me. -
Society has invested in a new standard of self proclaiming moral high ground, but yet there's a loop hole of this term being an acceptable despite a complete mockery of someone's entire belief system and way of life. I don't try to understand it anymore. I'm glad you're having a good trip. Good pictures and good information. Idlewild looks really neat. The lake...? Not so appealing. Explaining the reasoning for the weight limit thoroughly on the sign is a pretty decent thing to do, instead of just saying, "Sorry you got the red light, you can't ride."
