  1. ^That's good to know. Again, I'll actually consider buying passes if it comes back.
  2. All of the sudden I'm interested in the possibility of purchasing a pass. Isn't that weird? Maybe it's because as a family man, I want to go back and ride Batman again, just like all the other parents with toddlers. Weird. I thought that was supposed to solve a lot of issues. At least the costs of goods and services didn't inflate with the wages. If kids don't have the motivation, or supposedly "don't have time" to work, I don't think adding these extra steps will work. However, I'd venture to say the kid who works the 'dud' job at a hardware store stands more of a chance to gain more practical knowledge working there than he does at a modern day university.
  3. That's the creepiest way I've ever heard anyone refer to a roller coaster.
  4. Remember when we all used to complain about not having a hyper? Then, we were thrown a couple bones. A small GCI here, a small spinning coaster there. We still longed for our hyper, but started to think about settling for a RMC I-box treatment, which was sure to come at any time. Instead, we got Justice League, which I remember being told verbatim was "our hyper," because there wasn't any like it in the chain and it would be the best. Only to have one of the worst in the chain a few years later. But, we were all still so grateful to have it. "Think about some of the other parks and the lack of dark rides they had." Then, we got smaller flats like Super Girl. But hey, at least Six Flags was getting a new attraction every year, right? Now, we've lost Tidal Wave and Superman, only to be replaced by something with a laughable capacity for a major theme park chain. Some were saying we should be thankful for that, while other areas in the park become more and more in disrepair. We can't even refurbish a ride, but we should be so thankful the park is going to give us the very best finished product, which will open as the solo new attraction for that year. Meanwhile, they gave us planters and charged more money. People still kept coming. Next year, they're offering less, while we just ask for railings to be painted and shit paper holders to be fixed. In two years, we'll all be so thankful when they give us an extra weekend and repaint Joker. The people who complain will be called ungrateful. The hopeful will cross their fingers for a small flat to end the ride drought. How far have we come from our wants for a Hyper, yet how normal does getting so little feel? If it wasn't such a parallel to American society, it would be funny. Six Flags is just yet another bubble from boiling the frog. The icing on the cake was placing blame on a prior 'owner.' Was this post ever about Six Flags?
  5. Eagle ADA Ramp Go Kart removal Car...ou..sel.. Who's next?
  6. Easy there, champ. Put it back in your pants.
  7. Looks like construction work day starts at 7:30... I just clicked the web cam link for Top Thrill posted above. Good timing, because I saw about 20 trucks drive in toward Breakers all at once. A few of them drove toward Top Thrill and parked near the restrooms. I would imagine the others went toward the new construction site. It was pretty cool to see.
  8. Like how you'll be on a four lane highway, which will just suddenly turn into a two lane stop sign T intersection in the middle of an older miner's town where you have to make a left or a right turn?
  9. The only RMC hybrids that feel the same are the ones with uncomfortably fast transitions and repeated brief moments of thigh discomfort ejector airtime.
  10. With Cedar Fair swapping roles with Six Flags, I wonder if the new coaster will be open by July.
  11. We aim for the first full 10-10 operating week, usually mid-week. It's not too hot, crowds are lighter than in full blown summer, and everything is up and running. FL+ allows us to ride whatever we want.
  12. The Beast at night, last weekend.
  13. lol wtf that tweet: "We got our money's worth at Silver Dollar City today."
  14. Went to the park Saturday night. I've never seen it that crowded. I knew when the forecast was good and it being this close to Halloween, it was going to be packed. A lot of the FL+ queues seemed to be getting pretty close to the standby queues. Diamondback has always been the worst at this. The FL+ queue was out to the entrance. Orion was close. Even on summer weekends, FL+ is not the golden ticket it used to be. Kings Island is just so much more popular now. It has a lot more appealing attractions where people don't want to chance missing out on, and/or just want to ride them without waiting. Our Beast FL+ line was almost all the way down the exit ramp that used to go over the old lake area. There was a while it didn't move. We waited almost an hour. Just eyeballing the standby queue, I think we actually waited longer. Fright Lane is still worth it. We never waited. I'm not trying to talk shit, but I have no idea why someone would wait in those insane lines to walk through those houses. It looked miserable. There were 6 of us, which muted the fun. We ended up playing, "who needs a beer?" and "who's turn is to take a piss"" more than we did riding. That's a little more streamlined when it's just the two of us. That, and in the adult world, there's that underlying feeling "who's going to be the first to imply they want to leave" after 10pm. There were a lot of scare actors. Scenery was cool. Last year, Kill Mart seemed really bare on the scenery, but I think it had a lot more little props this year. It's still my favorite for the cheese factor. We saw plenty of terrified toddlers and young kids there late at night. Some of them screaming and unable to be consoled. Their parents were selfishly having a great time. One even had an infant. Let's see how that turns out. Sorry kids. You're screwed. Sad. All of the rides were running really well. Operations were great. The Banshee scream was back this trip. Sadly, all of the arms were working on Adventure Express. Did all of Racer get retracked? The return track was pretty jarring. The Beast is a lot more smooth. It flew through the helix to the point where it actually made me nervous in a good way... I never remember it feeling that fast. We accomplished our important secondary objective of cold draft Yuengling and wings at BC Roosters, but my ride count was lower than ever. It was due to equal parts of the group and queue length. Orion - 1 day / 1 night Racer - 1 day Adventure Express - 1 day Banshee - 1 day Mystic Timbers - 1 day / 1 night Diamondback - 1 day Beast - 1 night Beer count - a lot I'm not someone who cares about high ride counts, or marathoning coasters, but a few more rides would have been nice. We only hit single digits with FL+. We hit 5 out of 6 of the Haunts. We left a little after 11. Although... I just had a hazy memory of riding 3 adults deep, guys vs. girls, on the antique cars. Turns out... the tires squeal if you jam the brakes hard enough, while cutting the wheel... (was not driving) Next year Emily wants to go somewhere else for The Haunt. I suggested Howl-O-Scream. We'll leave the group behind. We have more fun when it's just the two of us (when we can't make 3). Personal side note: It was a pretty tame year for us. A couple hours at SFSTL with our Daughter in June. 2 days at CP/Breakers in June. 1 day at SDC with our Daughter in July. 1 day at KI in October. Pretty sparse compared to three years ago. Our best trip was SDC with her, even despite a 3 hour nap break in the middle of the day. Aside from that, I noticed that not constantly going on coasters absolutely makes them more exciting. I got cold chills a few times, that I hadn't gotten in as long as I can remember. That, and flying toward the tunnel entrance on The Beast legitimately made me nervous.
  15. Definitely agree. I liked this even before we had a family.
  16. If I found a genie in a bottle, my first wish would be to remove the tunnel and animatronics on Adventure Express, not because I dislike it, but only to hear everyone bitch about it being gone. The shed would be my next victim. Finally, I would make Top Thrill Dragster even shorter of a ride. Sorry world peace.
  17. Same. In-laws will not be renewing their passes. We're still on the fence, but I don't know if we'd even go more than once. Like... what's the point? HITP brought a different crowd. There weren't any turkey leg fights. I saw a lot of families. I can see a lot of people like that buying passes strictly because they know they're going to go to HITP, and also another day during the summer.
  18. It's the same thing. You have to pay more for what you used to get for less. They're just doing it differently than a flat price hike.
  19. Yeah. She obtained all of her wealth through Dollywood, and nothing else. It's no surprise parks are offering less services at increased costs. Go out to eat recently? You get less food, or less quality, with an increased price. Check your stocks or 401k. Your grocery bill. Your utilities, which directly impact the park. Airline costs are up 42% from last year, not to mention rental cars from pre-pandemic prices. Yet, there's an expectation that parks are still going to charge less than $100.00 for park passes, with the same quality services. I can speak of this personally. We can't take the type of vacations we used to, without growing our savings, especially since the money we have has been devalued by 10% due to inflation. The years of 6-7 trips for us are over, if we want to continue to financially better ourselves. Our $2,000/week condo in Pensacola is now $3,000. Gas prices are higher to get there. Even a modest trip to Vegas was $4,000 for us, two years ago. A priced out trip to Orlando for four days, with the parks and activities we wanted to do, with our hotels for free, was at least $4,000. To top that off, imagine people who are leaving more stressful jobs for less pay. It's been a trend since COVID. I did. We're visiting parks less. Imagine starting a family during all of this? All of us have to be smarter with our money, including corporations. Unfortunately, survival means passing some of these costs on the consumer to pay for debt from attractions we demand. Maybe part of the gripe is that theme parks are somewhat of an escape from reality. Well, you can't completely escape it, so live with it. Take whatever political stance you want to form your opinions about the reasons behind this, but this is reality. Although I suspect people who haven't made efforts to do so aren't paying attention. Watching mind melting TikTok is more fun than paying attention to national and global events. (Still searching for an independent source...) Many people are watching their credit debt from vanity expenses (more than it ever has historically), and hoping for the best. It's coming to a head. Good luck. Again, these aren't political opinions. I kept that out of this. These are observations. Start f***ing paying attention and you won't be shocked when there are less scare actors and you're paying more at the gates.
  20. My concern is that Cedar Fair will become the lower quality budget park and Six Flags will try to be the more premium park, while doing it the Six Flags way.
