  1. What makes anyone think that WoF would get anything like a Mack or Zierer launched coaster? That doesn't seem to be the M.O. for Cedar Fair at all. If I were to guess, WoF's next big investment will come in the form of a B&M, most likely a wing rider. Unfortunately, I wouldn't ever count on a signature giga. I feel like WoF kind of got the shaft with not going with B&M for Mamba and then getting one of the most, if not THE most, forceless Inverts. However, Prowler was a win and I'm sure the next addition will be a winner as well.
  2. I already explained it once, but I'll highlight it for you: $60 isn't a lot of money for us, but it's money that could be used elsewhere (smart spending, hence no debt aside from our mortgage). $60 isn't worth spending for one enjoyable 20 year old steel roller coaster after an hour drive. Especially when I've ridden 7 clones of the same ride. That $60 will go toward vacation or another park.
  3. No one is "boycotting" Six Flags. There are many of us who aren't returning, because there is not a good enough reason to return. We're tired of riding the same selection that lacks quality modern steel. I'll speak for myself when I say the park doesn't offer a selection that caters to what I personally want. Batman and American Thunder are solid rides, but they don't justify the expense of going to the park. I'll gladly spend that money 5 hours away at King's Island or somewhere else that does offer a modern day ride selection that I enjoy. I used to absolutely enjoy Mr. Freeze, but the marketing ploy of taking a perfectly good coaster and turning it backwards really made me salty. It was always one of my favorites, but turning it backwards completely changed the dynamics for me. If they offered just two state of the art steel coasters that I enjoyed it would be worth the admission for me, just as it used to be. However, since I no longer enjoy Freeze, there isn't enough to bring me back. There's no boycott.
  4. Yeah, give or take. Looks like the ball has been dropped. I get what you're saying, but "Time of their lives" in reference to most visitors is kind of a stretch, don't you think???
  5. Or you could be positive for once and see it this way: At least three other Six Flags parks (Great Adventure, Over Georgia, and Discovery Kingdom) are rumored to be getting a horrible, low capacity carnival flat ride. Meanwhile, Six Flags St. Louis is replacing its rundown, low capacity dark ride with one that should be superior in every way. I think it's hard to think positive when your home park is SFSTL. YOUR GETTING A REVAMPED DARK RIDE AND NOT A CARNIVAL RIDE. Six Flags actually put THOUGHT into next year's addition for SFSTL, instead of another Boomerang. This time, SFSTL is getting a wise investment. If that isn't something to be positive about, I wonder if you actually WANT a Super Loop. Yes... and next year we should be positive when a few other Six Flags parks get a lowly pretzel stand and we at least get blessed with a nacho stand.
  6. Carrowinds announced Fury325, the worlds tallest and fastest Giga coaster. Meanwhile, SFSTL teases the announcement of the refurbishment of a dark ride.
  7. From my personal experience the V style trains seem to have more vibrations and roughness, especially on Diamondback. I don't know if this is true for all of V style trains.
  8. I think it's because some of the outer seats can be a little more rough and shaky (relative term for a B&M) as opposed to the 4 across.
  9. Only (some) coaster enthusiast would complain about a 325 foot giga coaster. I'll say it again... We at SFSTL will gladly trade you our used boomerang for your giga coaster. We'll pay freight.
  10. It's a nice park. Afterburn is a great coaster and Intimidator is fun, too.
  11. Paula stated earlier that the location of Hyena Falls is all part of the plan.
  12. New for 2015, Mr. Freeze will be modified with a catch car starting at the bottom of the spike and pulling you backwards to the top. The catch car will release the train making this the first Hyper coaster in St. Louis! Mr. Freeze Hyper Release! Coming in 2020, Mr. Freeze REVERSE Hyper Release!
  13. I think I liked Thunderhead a little more than American Thunder, but I'll agree it's a highly underrated coaster.
  14. I agree with this ten fold. I've never seen ride operators look as lazy as they did the other day. It really aggravated me, but I tried not to act concerned since I was with a first timer to the park. I didn't want to ruin his time.
  15. I deal with people for a living. There's really no nice way to put it. The employee was intentionally on a power trip. Trust me. You could tell she clearly got enjoyment from making my day worse. Believe it or not, these people exist. I'm not even going to act like what you said is out of line. That being said, I can tell you I was nothing but polite to this girl. I'm a bit of a smartass and that comes off wrong when you read it instead of meeting me in person. I'm 'the guy' who is always overly polite to servers. It doesn't matter if you believe me or not. I have enough confrontation at work, therefor I try to have as little of it as possible outside of my duties. PS - I stopped being such a smartass on this site, since people misinterpret me.
  16. You're probably right. I completely forgot about your experience until you just brought it up. It really is making me not want to go to Six Flags parks, anymore. We just had bad experiences with customer service throughout the day. Every single flash pass attendant was incredibly rude. Out of our 20 or so rides we were greeted ONE time. You would think after paying $110 for a premium flash pass they could at least greet you. One kid even halfway yelled at me "Turn it on!" when he went to scan my pass. Not to be ignorant, but I had a split second temptation to take him to the ground. As a police officer, I literally receive more respect from most crack heads, drug dealers, prostitutes, and every day low life criminals than how the staff treated us yesterday. The staff members who put forward a minimal effort to be friendly were few and far between. The difference between my day at King's Island and my day at Great America were absolutely night and day. Cedar fair felt like it was being operated by a staff of young adults. Great America was being operated by a group of punk kids. I'm embarrassed that it was my friend's first experience to a park outside of Six Flags St. Louis and I tried to explain to him how much better the customer service is with Cedar Fair and most other parks. Overall, we spent approximately $350 at the park to be treated like crap. I'm honestly disgusted.
  17. I agree. I think the time for that has come and past. I had hopes, before SF corporate thought that something like Boomerang was a good fit for our part. That was a pretty big statement.
  18. So I went to the park yesterday and had the worst single most customer service experience I've ever had at a park. It was possibly the worst customer service I've ever had anywhere. My friend and I went to buy a couple beers. I look young for 29, so I always have my ID out and I took my sunglasses off as a courtesy. I handed the girl at the counter my Illinois Driver's License and politely asked for two Miller Lites. (I am always polite to servers) She kept looking at my ID and looking at me. After several seconds passed, I kind of raised my eyebrows in question and she flat out rudely told me "This doesn't look like you." Keep in mind I have my hair the exact same length in my ID and the picture was taken last year. I said "Excuse me?" She said again, "I don't think this is you." I was pretty pissed off at this point and told her "Well it's been me for 29 years." I spouted off my birthday and my address and she still just looked at me like she was going to deny me beer. She was trying to make it obvious to her co worker that at this point she just wanted to tell me no. After that, she was trying to be spiteful and she was on an evident power trip. She went over to another server and overly convincingly tried to say "I don't think this is him." I could tell she really wanted the other girl to say it wasn't me so she could deny me a beer. At that point, I was prepared to make a scene. I told her if she didn't think that was me than she needed to call the police, since I used my credit card under that name to buy our tickets, our parking, and our flash pass, because as a police officer I know that Unlawful Use of a Debit Card is a felony. The other employee looked at me for two seconds and said "Yeah, that's him... same eyes." I was extremely pissed at this point as the the worst staff ever continued to be a smart ass throughout the rest of the transaction and she held a smart ass grin on her face. When we went back for a second beer... HOURS LATER MIND YOU... I even tried to be nice and joke with her. I went out of my way to apologize to her if I did anything to upset her. I joked with her and asked her if she was going to give me a hard time. She smiled and laughed and told me she just didn't want to get in trouble. In reality she just wanted to go on a power trip. I played it off like nothing ever happened, smiled, thanked her for the beers, and told her that I understood, despite the fact that she never once apologized. At that time I still didn't know they had anywhere else that sold beer, so a while later I reluctantly walked back to the beer lady for my third and final beer throughout the entire day. Again, I smiled, greeted her, and asked her for two more beers (one each...) for my friend and I. She grinned and with a huge smartass tone looked at me and said "Well..... I'm sorry... I've served you two beers already (within FOUR hours) and I don't think I should serve you anymore..." With two hours left at the park I was determined to not let it ruined my time, so I went to JB after discovering its existence for my third and final beer, where the bar tender greeted us with kindness and served our beer. I'm tempted to call and complain, but I didn't get her name. I can describe her pretty well if that would help. Would it be worth it to complain or would it even go anywhere? I can see her giving some BS account of the story and make it out like I was being the asshole, but I played it over and over again in my head. My friend said I was being nothing but nice... I even apologized to her... for HER actions.
  19. I think the problem is HVAC. My grade school did not have air conditioning and havering class in August would have been a nightmare. You make a great point. I remember sweating my a$$ off in class at the beginning and end of the school year. It really interfered with my sleeping! Only one of our three buildings in my high school had AC and it kept the building at a nice cool 80 degrees, which was a luxury at that time. AC was unheard of in K-12.
  20. How were all of the other rides? I'm hoping Friday won't be too terrible, since school is right around the corner.
