Right this moment there's some sort of hazmat situation going on at MiAdv waterpark. It just broke on our local news, reports of people being hosed off by the fire dept. and some being transported away by ambulance. No idea what is going on just yet, I'm staying tuned though. Pool chemicals perhaps?

Wow I thought you guys were to harsh on mean streak until I went to cedar point today and rode it for the first time. But it amazes me how something that looks so good can be so bad. There were no redeeming qualities for this ride whatsoever.
Quoted for truth from a fresh perspective. You nailed it on the head, it is a beautiful sight to behold. Have you seen pictures of it from the lake? My goodness it's coaster porn. But to actually ride... Nobody is exaggerating. Nobody.

Hey everyone!
My family is planning a trip to the Dells and are planning on stopping at Great America either on Monday the 21st or Friday the 25th. We wanted to know which day would be the least crowded.
By all means any Monday should be better than any Friday.
rush to Goliath and ride until lines get long
So, one ride then...

I really like Invertigo and Wicked Twister, but I haven't been on Wicked Twister in quite a while so I can't accurately rank one above the other.
I can
These are also my favorite two.

I'm planning on going to Great America for the first time next week. I have some of Tuesday and all of Wednesday set as the plan. How long are lines usually? Granted it depends on the day, but how long approximately are the waits? Obviously Goliath's wait will be insane but how long has it been lately?
Tuesday and Wednesday are usually the best days to go in my experience. Get there before the gates open and you'll get on Goliath easily, otherwise expect 2+ hour wait most of the day. The upshot is that you can cycle Bull a bunch early in the day.

^Where's El Toro Ryan to swoop in and tell you you're wrong and everything about the park is great and well if it isn't then there's 100 reasons why it isn't the park's fault?
Oh that's real classy. El Toro_Ryan has actually been quite helpful in this thread recently. If I worked at a park I might cheerlead a bit too.

Now, did I catch Dark Knight on a bad day or ride in a bad car, or was my recent visit justifiably the single worst coaster experience I've had ?
I don't think there is a bad car, they're all the same... to call it your worst coaster experience ever is a strong statement. I could give you a list of coasters to ride that would elevate your DK memory
I rather enjoyed DK this year, all the effects seemed to be working! Last season if I recall, we had no truck at the end and no rotating lights. I like it when parks don't just "let go" of failing effects. Now fix the misters on X-Flight!

Nice photos! The other couple that you didn't post are brilliant as well. These really convey how breathtaking the ride actually is. I can't get over that you have NOTHING to hold on to! It really adds to the thrill that even the most nervous rider can't assuage themselves with that small bit of security
They actually have a strap/handle on the restraint for holding on to.
I don't think that little thing is for the rider. Try holding on to it while riding...

Got back from our trip around the lake early this morning. Goliath is everything that has been said. What an incredible ride! Those zero-G stalls are exactly that: all floater. We rode in the middle once and in the back twice. The back provided a better first drop but after that both seats provided a similar experience. We got to the park right at open Tuesday and headed straight back, and the wait was already at an hour. That hour actually lasted about 45 minutes and felt like 30. After our ride the wait was up to 120 and yes, stayed there for the rest of the day. Yesterday we rose bright and early (LaQuinta yesss) and hit the gate before open. We trot-stepped as others ran by and tired themselves out, and we passed most of them around the Yankee Harbor bridge as a result I think we made the third train of the day but as we de-boarded, sure enough the wait was 120 minutes. We intended on a re-ride but decided instead to cycle the Bull. We got six rides before the wait changed from 15 to 45. The rest of the day was pretty populated as all lines on all major rides were posted at a 45 to 120 min wait.
I will also mention that I officially divorced Eagle yesterday. At least the red side.

Yes, those three parks are going to be CF's main focus, but that doesn't mean that the other parks can't get something new too. Also, this is probably not what MA fans want to hear, but I could see a Dinosaurs Alive here in the near future.
No no no lalalala I can't hear you
This would cost a ton of money and not draw nearly the patronage that a couple thrill rides or a new coaster would.
Add three coasters to this awesome property and you've got a destination. Right now you've got a carnival with a world class woodie and a great waterpark.

It's possible, but I don't think it's Cedar Fair's priority right now. The really want to focus on expanding Carowinds, Valleyfair, and California's Great America first. Maybe we could see a new coaster in the next 5 years, but MA really doesn't have the attendance to immediately add a new coaster. Just my thoughts.
Add a coaster and watch attendance. One begets the other...

Thanks, you guys are extremely helpful!

My tour group is planning a Hershey trip in August and it will be our first. I am so excited! My question to you locals/regulars is, what's the best way to get a deal on admission? Are there local coupons, or group packages available? There are six of us and we will be there for two days, so 12 admissions total. I'd appreciate any help I can get!

So far, my tour group's plans are:
SFGam
SFGAdv
Dorney
Hershey
MIAdv
-
^Nice! Thanks for these. Some great pics in your gallery.
-
These descriptions and reviews are getting me ultra pumped, I'll be there in a week and a half! The anticipation is killing me...
-
SFGAm in two weeks to activate our season passes and with luck ride Goliath, then in early August we road trip to SFGAdv for a couple days, then a day at Dorney, then a couple more at Hersheypark.
-
So, what cedar Fair ride do you think will be relocated here next?
Anything, please!
I'm still bitter that Dorney got Demon Drop, a ride that would have went over well at MiAdv. Instead it inexplicably went to a park that already has a drop ride...
-
I'm 99.9% sure you'll have to process it at SFNE before anywhere else, or else everyone would buy their passes from the cheapest parks in the chain to avoid paying for their home parks higher prices.
You are absolutely correct. I was on the phone earlier today with my 6F homepark (SFGAm) to verify this. What a bummer, I'll be forced to visit Goliath before our first venture to Nitro and El Toro!

It's official today: Great Adventure, Hershey, Kennywood with a side of Cedar Point and Great America potentially.
-
Rule of (my) thumb: If there's a BUFFET offered somewhere in the park, go for it!
The amount of food you eat, will certainly outweigh the cost you pay for it.
Midway Market at CP! Every single time
