  1. Oh man......I just cashed my miles in for our Florida trip.......
  2. Now how the heck does a guy in Toronto get Fat Tire and Skinny Dip????
  3. I've been meaning to post these for awhile. The post of the Skinny Dip reminded me. I went up to New Belgium while on business in Denver last month. Unfortunately, my camera crapped out on me shortly after arriving so, no inside pics. I sampled 1554, Skinny Dip, Blue Paddle and Sunshine. Skinny Dip was a pleasant surprise as was 1554, as I'm not terribly enthusiastic with darks. It had a nice hint of chocolate. Budweiser trucks taunted me on the drive up.... Ah the New Belgium bikes, and the last pic I got....stupid camera. Not what I was expecting, especially after entering town. Very nice building. Ah, my personal Mecca. I can smell all that is good. And good is Fat Tire!
  4. First, and I've discussed this in the the "Fmaily Sues Disney" Thread, the Good Samaritan Law is only as good as the jury you put it in front of. Quite honestly, I don't have much faith in jurys over the past decade. They often throw out strong legal arguments and law and form their own opinions granting plaintiffs immense awards (think tobacco suits). So, just because it's "law" doesn't mean it's set in stone. Second, all employees are covered under their employer's liability policy under circumstances such as this. The family cannot file suit against them individually as they were an agent of the employer at the time of the incident. Third, there's a lot of legal arguments about the placing of AED's in parks, buildings, etc. Some feel it opens more liability on the property owner than if they don't have one at all. And yes, I've heard the arguments on how "dumb proof" they are. Just remember there's always a better idiot. I guess if they sue and get a large award, the family can take a Permanent Vacation.
  5. In the old days, we flew Eastern. Then it was onto United. We had a contract with United for business which meant I had no choice. We've just recently changed to American, which I like much better than United, here's why: In January of '03 I had to fly to Portland to meet with brokers and Port of Portland personnel, we booked through United as we we had to. It just so happened that Portland was getting the worst snow/ice storm they'd had in over 20 some odd years. My first flight was cancelled, then the second. Meanwhile the broker kept calling to make sure I was going because it was of the utmost importance. So I finally get on the last flight for the day (I had to upgrade to Business Class) and I'm off. Upon landing we can't even see the runway or the airport navigation lights. The entire place was covered in snow, the pilot was literally revving the engines to full throttle to get through snow drifts on the taxiways. We pull in and the airport informs us we're the last flight in and everything in and out is cancelled for the next day...at the least. People are sacked out all over, the Red Cross is handing out food an drinks. It's a mess. I managed to get down to baggage claim only to find out my bag in MIA. They tell me to call the Luggage Hotline in the morning and report it missing if it doesn't show up at the Hotel. Make a long story short, they keep telling me they have no record of the luggage leaving O'Hare. They have no record of it at all. I'm stuck in Portland with what I'm wearing (because United refuses to offer me any cash) for three days. I was ripe. I get back to O'Hare, after driving to Seattle to fly back (flights were still not leaving Portland), ask the luggage attendant there if my bag is there...Nope. Two weeks later, my Mother calls and says that United has dropped off my luggage. Meanwhile, I had replaced everything in the suitcase.... All that and the meeting never took place. The broker (that works across the street from us) cancelled it becasue she didn't want to fly out after she heard all the problems I was having. Grrrrr. End Rant.
  6. Try being a chick and riding with the brake on. OW!!! I'll take your word for it! As for Mr. Hyde, I was sad that it was gone. It would have been a reunion, as I had rode it once as "The Edge" at SFGAm in my earlier years....It sucked back then so, I'm shocked it lasted this long. Just be ready to get your ass beat up on Villian. That is the worst ride I have ever been on. ^Forgot about X Flight and the crowds. Like my TPR, the crowds were non existent, which I guess is fairly normal. Of course, we went on a Monday so, it might be a bit more crowded on a weekend. X Flight, IMHO, was just too weird to get a grasp on. It wasnt' bad but, there was nothing that made me get real giddy about it. The harnesses suck and the lift hill into facing into the sun were bad. I pretty much had my eyes closed the whole time because of it. It's worth the credit though.
  7. Crap, now I'm going to have start keeping a better documentation.....
  8. And there's your first hurdle..... Sorry, I'm cynical. I handle liability claims for major airports (we handle 56% of the US market). I see and handle way too many frivilous lawsuits and claims on a daily basis. It's really quite sickening what the US population thinks they're entitled too.
  9. ^ That's precisely my argument. The good samaritan defense is a total crock. They'd be protected under Disney's Liability policy (which I believe they're self insured) but, plaintiff counsel would argue that they were a cause in the death, AED or not. It's a trickbag as we call it, in the insurance biz.
  10. You haven't seen some of the morons in this office then!
  11. Technically, he's correct. Earth goes through dramatic climate changes every 50,000 years or so. The poles have even swapped ends a few times. There is quite a good number of meterologists and climatologists that believe these are isolated incidents, just all within a short period of time. (Seriously, this is the first time I've really had to use my Geography minor knowledge....). Anywho, I agree with Elissa, let's get this back on topic. I hope everyone's doing alright out there.
  12. On a side note, having defibulators around is kind of a Catch 22 for property owners. Although they give the sense that they're being mindful of the guests in case of health emergencies, what if no one around knows how to use one??? Do you want some guy (or gal) that has no experience with one shocking you???? I sure wouldn't. We've had this same argument in our office when they put one in. There are certain people here, I wouldn't want anywhere near one if I was in need of a shock.
  13. ^ The brake was on. Loved Steel Venom but, hate that brake.
  14. Didn't I say that two posts earlier????
  15. ^ You'd be surprised at how LITTLE is thought out when suits are filed. Almost little to no investigation takes place al ot of the time. It really depends on the counsel they hired. I'm guessing it's probably not some high end plaintiff counsel and, they probably got the case by calling the parents.
  16. Ah, the legal system at it's finest. Look to the deep pockets, money will solve all your heartache....
  17. That right there was worth the read. Such a Mom thing to call about.
  18. Dominator is awesome!!!! It's also $25 per person with an awesome water park included.
  19. I'm anxiously awaiting details on the Midwest Trip as it's close to home and the prices I've seen in past trips seem to be quite reasonable. Can August come too soon???
  20. Pretty much what pvcoaster guy said. Head left towards Superman when you get into the park. For some reason 90% of the crowd heads to the right (must be a human herding instinct). You can easily get through Superman, V2, Batman, Ragin Cajun with in a hour or so, which comes in handy when you get to Raging Bull, as the line is always long. Not to mention you save the best two coasters in the park for last (RB and Viper!). If necessary, you can walk back to the entrance/driveway of the park and head over to Burger King for lunch to save some bucks.
  21. I was just there two weeks ago. 10 quick credits, two of which I thought were worth it. It's probably a little over an hour from CP on the southeast side of Cleveland. Check out my PTR: Geauga Lake Photo TR
  22. Seriously, what happened to people listening to the "No flash photography" rule........
  23. ^^ I'll make sure to take a photo from our place when we go in October. Gotta love being able to get Pizza Hut delivered by golf cart.
  24. I'm quite infactuated with myself. I'm dead sexy...
  25. Wally, how is the sauce???? I'm always interested in trying new BBQ sauces. I can't seem to stomach Lambics...
