Oh boy, this might cause a scheduling conflict concerning next season's plans when it comes to visiting amusement parks. Already I decided to wait until 2016 before revisiting Kentucky Kingdom ( in hopes I'll lose enough weight to ride Lighting Run and see what they did with Twisted Twins), but with all the excitement they're generating with T3 and several other rides, I feel like I might want to revisit the park next season. Perhaps they should rename the park Temptation Kingdom.

Weird Roller Coaster Dreams
palmerleeberry replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, this crazy dream doesn't involve any coasters, but it does involve me and my friend working at Halloweekend at Kings Dominion ( For the record, my friend and I never worked at any amusement park). Only two things I can remember about this crazy dream: scaring a bunch of people while Mr.Mister "Broken Wings" was playing on the intercom speaker inside the haunted house attraction, and talking to my friend after work and asking what was his favorite part of this holiday. His reply: "It's the candy!" -
For someone my size and cannot ride Lighting Run, as long I can fit inside the seat and have the restraints lock me safely into place, then who cares what train they use? As for the new additions Kentucky Kingdom will add for next season, I'll have to call that a healthy and much needed addition to the park.

For this season, Six Flags America has definitely improved itself. I've been there twice so far and I plan to return one more time for Frightfest ( So I can finally ride Ragin' Cajun). I bought the season pass at that park so I could use it when I went to Six Flags Great America last August, and I haven't been disappointed (yet). As for the new ride (Bourbon Street Fireball) coming next season, I thought to myself Oh, it's another looping flat ride. Not the greatest ride, but it's better than nothing. Then when I read the specs about this ride and saw some pictures about it, that changed my mind real quick. SEVEN STORIES HIGH? The loopers I've often seen on fairgrounds are usually twenty-five to thirty feet high, but SEVEN STORIES HIGH? That is one big looper! Now that Six Flags America has announced their newest attraction that should generate some interest, now I hope they can get that ride up and running by opening day 2015. Then that'll should stop any talk about Six Flags America being the bastard stepson of the Six Flags family.

Well, that is interesting news, plus it also explains why there haven't been any activity on the site. But the part that read "We have closed on the deal" means that this is happening!!! If you all can make this work, then not only Houston would be thankful, but also all the riders and amusement park flyers who have been avoiding this city for all those years. But I must leave you with this - Just like Texas once had the saying "Remember the Alamo!", I think Houston should have their own saying: "Remember Hard Rock Park!" I don't want to GET BURNT AGAIN!

Hanno's picture of the day
palmerleeberry replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holy Moly! That picture of corkscrews would put any Corkscrew coaster to shame ( especially the one still operating in Michigan Adventures). I counted four corkscrews loops! I'll bet that'll get you sick and dizzy. -
To me, I hate any coaster I cannot ride do to restraints issues. Besides some kiddie coasters at some parks, the one that isn't a kiddie coaster has to be Lighting Run at Kentucky Kingdom. Their restraints do not agree with me. Another one has to be SkyRush at Hesheypark. Last time I rode it, I felt the coaster should be called "Thigh Bust" due to the restraints they used on that ride.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

Last time when I went into the park, I presented my CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS to the parking attendant, but ( ) the scanner couldn't read the bar code because it got worn by numerous uses. Fortunately, they gave me a brand, spanking new one. Because my card is in pristine order, I guess I have to renew it. If Shoots the Curl is on its way out, then it'll get no tears from me. kINGS dOMINION - NOBODY HAS MORE FUN!!! -
^Yeah, what he said with lots of sugar on top! But I do have a question about something I saw in one of the photo ( the one that shows Wild Bill's initials on the roof). On the ground near that building stands something that looks like it came off a spinning flat ride. Does anybody know what it is, what its doing there, and will it ever be installed in something? This rider and amusement park flyer wants to know!

Oh no, I think it time for another song to cement this occasion. " Over the river and through the woods, On Thunderbird we would gooooooooooooo . . ." Sorry, I couldn't resist it. I can always say that the devil made me do it. "Oh sure, blame it on me. By the way, you can kiss my " -

^Okay, let's have a moment of silence for the removal of the Bumper Boats and Boat Tag. "Oh PUL - LEAZE! Like anyone's gonna cry for the removal of those two attractions!" Oh well, let the construction of Impulse commence! -
I have to agree on that statement after being to the Dells last month. I rode Hades 360 and the worse part about that ride was the long time I had to wait in line, but I didn't let it get me down because I would ride it twice that day. As for Hellcat, I rode it three time, but I had to take long breaks in between those rides I order to recuperate. One more thing - I was really impress how they ran their go-kart courses. Having one set of go karts race while the other set of go-karts load and unload was brilliant! Tis a pity that more parks aren't doing that - they just load and race a set of go-karts at one time.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, the best coasters are those I can get on and ride without waiting a long time. I guess if I used that logic, then The Adventure Coaster and the Racer must be the best coasters in the park. Seriously, I like both Diamondback and Banshee and I'll be coming back in late October to ride them and the other coasters during their annual Hallo-Weekend. Plus, I'm aching like bacon to see what they did to the old stationhouse that once housed the Son of Beast. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just want to say that whatever they decide to put, I hope the package includes the repaving the parking lot. Good Grief, I've seen smaller parks with better parking spaces compares to Kings Dominion's lot. As for seeing a possible design for a mega-sized coaster, how about this concept? Put the station in the area next to Boo Blasters and Avalanche and design the coaster like Magnum 200 that will go behind the amphitheater and run out to the unused, unpaved part of the parking lot. I'm sure they can make it a winged coaster and since the station would be located in Safari Village it'll be given a "birdy" name. That's my take for 2016. What do all you riders and amusement park flyers think? kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -
Worst Coaster Experience
palmerleeberry replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, I have another bad coaster experience and it happened at Wisconsin Dells. I was riding their coaster at Timber Falls Adventure Park and I paid for a wristband that included unlimited golf, unlimited rides on both bumper boats and log flumes, and five rides on the coaster. The roller coaster was the first thing I did and I rode up in front. That thing was rough, and at one point I bumped my knee hard against the front panel. The other attractions were fine, but I would ride the roller coaster two more times, but with a few hours in between rides to help me recover. Compared to this coaster, all the other coasters located in Mt. Olympus were much smoother, especially Hades 360. -
SFNO/Jazzland Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know what to make of it. The plan may look good on paper, but just as you can draw optical illusions that cannot exist in real life, perhaps the reality of making this park coming back to life could also be an illusion as well ( more like a delusion - the belief in something that may or may not be true). Still, as a hopeless optimistic, I think something could rise from these ashes, but it'll take lots of planning, lots of financing, lots of hard work and determination, and good fortunes in order to turn this into a reality. "Just think positive thoughts; remember that Kentucky Kingdom rose from its ashes, so I'm sure that Jazzland could do the same." "Ha! When that happens, then I'll open a ski resort." "Okay, I get my skies all waxed up. I don't think I'll have to wait that long. "Aww, kiss my !!! -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey riders and amusement park flyers . . . I have seen on more than one occasion when the line for Anaconda was filled up. I read years ago when Cedar Point was considering removing all their arrow looping coasters, but that was a few years ago and it has yet to happen. If Kings Dominion decides to remove Shockwave, it would only leave small footprint for the next coaster to take it's place ( unless they managed to make this next coaster go all over the place). As for next year's coming attractions, I'm all for the expansion of Water Works and all for changing its name to Soak City, but I wish it could offer another type of slide complex, such as a mat racer. Well, at least the kiddies would be happy with Splash Island. KINGS DOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!! -

Oh boy, with all these daily progresses and a new section of track going up ever so often . . . I don't know if I could handle all this excitement! -
When I was at the park, I looked at the area that the old Ragin' Cajun used to sit ( Believe it or not - I still haven't rode it at my home park of Six Flags America yet, but it's coming), and I was thinking to myself what sort of ride can Six Flags Great America put in there? It cannot be a small coaster because they already have a wild mouse coaster they call "The Dark Knight" and putting in a flat won't do it any justice ( I mean the area already has a few flats, plus the entrance to their water canyon raft ride). Then I recalled that this park doesn't have a dark ride, and this would be perfect if they could match it up to the scenery they left behind after dismantling the Ragin' Cajun. Then what sort of dark ride could this be? It could have a haunted theme, or maybe a Mardi Gras theme. Here's a crazy idea - How about a clone of Six Flags over Georgia's "Monster Plantation"? Or if they decided on using the Justice League theme, then the story must involve the superheroes battling the evil villains during Mardi Gras. Hey, I would make extra plans and pains to return to Six Flags Great America if they went that route. Shoot, anything would be better than to see an empty area where an exciting ride used to be, and no one wants to be depressed seeing that vacant lot while at an amusement park. Oh, let the speculations commence . . .

Well, thanks to everyone for their information concerning the Screaming Swings. I have learned three things: admission to Fun Spot Action Park is free ( just like Knoebels and Morey's Piers), you need to purchase a wristband to ride the rides ( also like Knoebels and Morey's Piers), and the Screaming Swings is included with the wristband ( Knoebels doesn't have one, but Morey's Piers does, but it's an upcharge attraction). I know everyone will be raving about Screaming Swings, but could anyone else begin a topic with the other two attractions: Laser and Gators? WHITE LIGHTING!- Can you survive its strike?

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Last time I went to Holiday World, I almost forgot about Hyena Falls because . . . well . . . it was isolated from the other water slides. So when I finally walked up to Hyena Falls ( after walking for miles and miles) I kept thinking to myself I wonder why they decided to put this slide complex so far away from the other slides? It feels so isolated and alienated. Perhaps Hyena Falls was just phase one of the expansion plans that Holiday World is planning to unleash within the next few seasons. Phase two is the installment of Thunderbird, a type of coaster that boggles the imagination of any rider and amusement park flyer. I don't know where the future phases would be, but methinks they will be placed during that long walkway leading to Hyena Falls. The end result would be that Hyena Falls won't feel isolated anymore, just another attraction surrounded by other attractions. -
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full . . . these are the type of attractions that could benefit Fun Spot Action Park. Screaming Swings, Lasers, and Gators oh my! But I do wonder what type of attraction Screaming Swings would be. I know two types of Screaming Swings: the type that are included in your park admission and the type that is an upcharge attraction. I do know the large ones that can hold forty riders at once are usually included in your park admission and the smaller versions, the ones that hold up to eight riders, are the upcharge versions. The video showcased the smaller Screaming Swings, so will this be an upcharge attraction or not? Too bad they aren't doing a dark ride next season. Oh well, maybe next time.

^I guess I wasn't the only one that was "SHOCKED". I was there at the park for two days last week and I managed to ride almost everything in the park ( some rides more than once because they were worth a repeat and that included twice on Goliath. That was one awesome ride! Another ride I want to talk about is American Eagle. Earlier in the day, I rode that coaster twice, first time RED SIDE and second time BLUE SIDE. And on each time, it was a walk up and ride. Now at around 7:30 I was on the Train on it last ride of the day when we pass by American Eagle and I was shocked to see how crowed the lines were. I mean, I was like On the next day, I went get in line for American Eagle and there was a long line that began where the entrance was and filled up each and every line they had. Despite the long line, it moved quickly and I was able to ride up in front on BLUE SIDE. Amazing that even with Goliath, X-flight, and Superman, this coaster still gets long lines. BEAUTIFUL!
