  1. This might be my favorite announcement of the year, and half of it is for 2020! It became clear as the years have gone by (since it's closure) that Gwazi wasn't being kept around just because it looks neat. Glad to finally get to the bottom of that, and really can't wait to see where they go with it. As for the other (more immediate) half of the announcement, I've been wanting to take a spin on a Sky Rocket II since SFDK debuted their. Glad it's finally in the cards. Still trying to wrap my mind around stumbling off Kumba or Montu and running into an RMC Gwazi.
  2. I hope it's this so much, because it's so Six Flags (and also because I'd love to see the marketing approach, although I can prob guess).
  3. A glorious last row ride on Steel Vengeance to close off the night, since Millennium Force was closed (8/26).
  4. Great start, and really looking forward to this TR. This trip looked amazing.
  5. This is where I'm at. I think, however, that my aversion to fair/carnival/FEC rides also partly stems from the time I peed myself on one when I was like 3 (it was those little cars that go in a circle). Germany is the only place I could see myself going to a carnival/fair type operation to do anything other than eat/drink, should I ever make it out for an Oktoberfest.
  6. I've actually been praying for exactly that ever since I learned it was possible.
  7. Caught my annual three nights of Phish out at Dick's Sporting Goods Park near Denver.
  8. No pat down, at least not when I visited this past Friday. I saw a handful of people make it all the way to the station house with their phones. A few of them, who just kept them out obliviously, were turned away.
  9. Indeed. I made my way over to it, took care of business, and hopped on for a few more laps. Lesson learned, haha.
  10. I did, this past Sunday. On a full bladder. My enjoyment of the ride has been gradually growing, but that (riding Magnum with a full bladder) was a mistake I won't be making again. I saw stars.
  11. Bummer about Kennywood, but great read as usual. I was *this close* to stopping in yesterday on the way back from a weekend KD/SFA trip, but opted to get a few more hours out of the Cedar Point pass in what was likely the last chance I'd get this season. Looking forward to the Knoebels/Hershey installments.
  12. That's pretty much it. I got to the park late (4-ish), and I don't think Millennium Force had opened at all yet to that point. Eventually, I saw them cycling empties, and then loaded trains a little while later. I figured I'd take care of other things first and make my way out to it, but by the time I did... I think this is the first time I've been to Cedar Point without at least one lap on MF. I was planning on finishing the night on it, but made the best of the situation and turned it into an extra lap on Rougarou, Maverick and Steel Vengeance to close off the day. Side note- got my first taste of Fast Lane Plus yesterday, and I'm not sure there is any going back.
  13. Denver on Labor Day weekend is a yearly thing for me- can't wait to get back there soon. There isn't really anything special about the parks. I guess Lakeside is supposed to be a good looking place after dark, but I haven't been late enough to see for myself. Elitch feels like what it is- a former Six Flags park. It's a small, shabby looking place (for the most part). Twister II is among the worst wooden coasters I've had the opportunity to ride because of the shape it's in. It really needs to be Rocky Mountain'd. Can't help you with it's current operational status, though. Apart from that, Intamin Drop Towers are always nice, and they have an Arrow Shuttle- which is at least interesting (though nothing memorable, IMO). Every time I've gone, downtime has been an issue. One train ops are the norm from my experience, and I haven't ever seen anyone in a hurry to dispatch anything, either. I've never rented a car out there- walking and Uber have always been just fine. The train from the airport to the city is a straight shot, around 45 minutes IIRC. I've mostly just stuck to concerts at Red Rocks & Dick's Sporting Goods Park, and exploring the city when I'm out there, so don't have any advice on visiting Golden- sorry. Denver is a great town- have fun!
  14. Really enjoyed your reports on the Polish parks- I'll be visiting next summer, and I didn't think I could be any more excited for that than I already was, but here we are. Insane to consider that this park is only in the middle of it's crazy growth spurt. It reminds me of what is happening in China, only it's confined to one park. SFWoA over Poland.
  15. Glad they're holding off until September to close it. I'll get my chance to say goodbye to Iron Wolf after all.
  16. This looks great. I enjoy the color scheme and am happy they went with this name and not something ridiculous. I've long wished B&M would actually go places with their Dive Machine designs, and with Valkyria and now Yukon Striker, here we are. I especially love that it doesn't immediately hit the MCBR after the first inversion. My only qualm is vest restraints, but such is life. Looking forward to trying this one out.
  17. Speaking of The Melt- it is the home of the best beer I've had at a park. Heavy Seas Tropicannon. Had 3 or 4 of those over the course of the day during Coastermania, and I can't wait to wet my beak again at the end of the month when I make my glorious return.
  18. I could certainly see a park like WOF getting an RMC Raptor- but we're averaging coordinates now?
  19. I know I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed the ride when it was at SFGAm (and B&M Stand-Ups in general). I'm visiting SFA later this month, and was looking forward to getting a spin or two on it, so this is a bit of a bummer.
  20. Sounds to me like that might be a generic survey Six Flags sends out, as those very details are being mentioned in the SFMM thread.
  21. Wow. I don't buy anything other than beer at parks, but that is definitely something I will make an exception for the next time I'm at Hershey.
  22. Based on many of the recent names- Blue Hawk, , Crazanity, tack a Twisted/Iron/Wicked in front of the name of a recently Rocky Mountain'd coaster, recycled names (Goliath, as an example)... I get the feeling that not a lot of thought is put into the naming process to begin with- so it probably doesn't matter.
