coasterkid124, could you try rendering Ride Of Steel's color scheme as silver track and black supports (Like the current colors of Walibi Holland's Xpress)?
Also thought I should mention that I sent Darien Lake an email (at their info@darienlake.com address) to ask about most of the topics discussed on this thread. Do you think I will get a reply (sent the email yesterday)?Would be nice to see if anyone has better luck with doing the same thing as I did. Really, try it, the more people then the more likely we could get a response.
Feel free to reach out, but please do not spam that email address, it is designed as a means for us to better serve our customers.
There are a lot of rumors floating around right now. When things can be addressed, they will.

^No, there's no way that Darien Lake or any park would build a 500 foot tall looping wooden coaster, maybe a looping wooden coaster that under 200 feet.

MARCEL! I'll have to visit you again before you head back across the pond! I'm running out of time.
Hope you have enjoyed your summer in the states so far!

It took them this long to finally do something about something people have been complaining about for a long time?
And then you could say...
At least they listened and did something about it!
Maybe they didn't need to do anything about it because ridership couldn't justify changing it... Maybe B&M wouldn't accommodate the change until recently... Maybe, just maybe, CP was too busy adding other capital investments, and it didn't make financial sense to add it until this year...
So, yes. You can say they listened and did something about it.

As for Mantis, it is the only coaster I've been on that came with groping. For some reason, every time I rode that thing, the attendants in the station would not hesitate to just go all touchy feely in that area. Every. Time.
I can't tell if your complaining about the groping, or not... I'm going to go with not!

This should prove to be a great ride. I haven't ridden Goliath just yet, so I can't voice my opinion about the "stall" elements. If I needed a reason to get back to SFNE, this would be that reason.

Scrambler will be located on Predator Blvd near 3 point challenge and will open this month.

1) Iron Rattler (missed out after NTAG ejection)
2) NTAG (same as above).
3) Helix (I'm on the wrong Continent)
4) Olympia Looping (same as above)

I think it is quite ok to take realistic guesses about what future investment could be made to the land vacated by Cuda Falls, as long as it does not dominate the entirety of this thread.
It looks like Wallenda will be doing his next televised walk for Discovery Channel in Chicago in the fall after his residency at Darien Lake. I for one am looking forward to his show as I really enjoyed the Cirque show a few years back.

My thoughts are with the victim and the family, here's hoping for a full recovery.
It was only a matter of time before something happened at this park. Don't get me wrong, we managed to have a great time while we were there, but it was apparent that their safety efforts were lacking.
Hopefully that this man, and his family, will be appropriately compensated. Maybe we will see some safety improvements for this upcoming season.

My only stand-up credits have been Mantis and Shockwave, both I found OK. Shockwave was rough, but tolerable. Mantis actually seemed like a lot of fun! In fact, I would choose Mantis over GateKeeper, believe it or not.

Ok, here is my humble $0.02.
Fast Lane is a luxury, a luxury I often choose to buy. When I choose not to purchase it, and consequently wait in lines, do I get angry with those who did purchase fast lane?
Of course not! I get mad at MYSELF for not forking up the money!
Fast Lane, Fast Pass, Quick Queue, ect are great products, plus they are money makers for the parks. I hope I'm not surprising anyone with the fact that businesses exist to make a profit.
Feel free to disagree with me, but I love Fast Lane and similar products.

My only gripe about the new renderings is the fact that the structure is more open during the zero gravity stall. I thought it would be amazingly disorienting to fly through all that structure upside down. Overall though, this is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to ride it!

Just going to post the press release for those who want to read it.
INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR NIK WALLENDA TO HEADLINE ENTERTAINMENT AT DARIEN LAKE IN 2014– Nik Wallenda & The Wallenda Family To Join Darien Lake For Upcoming Season –
DARIEN CENTER, N.Y., February 12, 2014 – With decades of experience captivating audiences around the world, aerialist and high-wire artist Nik Wallenda will spend the summer of 2014 high-above Darien Lake. Known as the “King of the Wire,” his high-flying stunts have landed him in the Guinness Book of World Record seven times and his 2012 walk across Niagara Falls made him a household name throughout Western New York.
Darien Lake and presenting sponsor Tim Hortons Café and Bake Shop announced today that the internationally renowned daredevil will star in and produce a 60-minute thrill spectacular exclusively for Darien Lake guests. Showing twice daily in the 1,800 seat Galaxy Theatre from June 23 through September 1st (dark Mondays), the show will mesmerize audiences with exhilarating performances from the world’s best aerialists and stunt performers and climax in the breath-taking Wallenda Family Pyramid on the wire finale. The amazing stunt features Nik, his wife Erendira, and other members of the Wallenda family walking, untethered, 60 feet above the audience.
Wallenda’s involvement doesn’t stop at the Galaxy Theater. Nik Wallenda Productions Inc. will be crafting additional entertainment for Darien Lake including a short-film chronicling the history of the Wallendas, an interactive tight-rope training academy with hands-on instruction, “pop up” street performances from the cast and crew, and a not-to-be-missed premier high-wire stunt on Saturday, May 26.
All performances will be included with park admission and for Darien Lake Vacations guests, with preferred seating and VIP packages sold on a limited basis. 2014 season pass holders will receive exclusive show offers and event invites throughout the show run.
“The level of entertainment Nik will bring to our guests this season is unprecedented,” said Vince Nicoletti, Director of Marketing at Darien Lake. “Nik Wallenda holds 7 world records and he’s coming with the world’s best aerialists and stunt performers in tow. This truly will be an incomparable entertainment experience”.
“My family and I are thrilled to be back in the area and spending our summer at Darien Lake,” said Nik Wallenda. “With more than 1 million people coming to the park every season, it’s the perfect location for our act and we can’t wait to get started.”

I can't wait to get back to Las Vegas to try this out. Chances are it will be my first El Loco.

They just hired a new marketing manager at the begining of December, which is about the same time their online presence started to pick up.
They also hired new Digital Media guy too.

I would say I am a mix between a Coaster Rider and a Coaster Whore who dabbles in Coaster Creation.
-
Such an improvement yet still familiar! Love it!

They bought cheetah hunt over 2 years before the i305 breakdown, and I didn't say they wouldn't buy a faulty intamin, I said I think its more likely they go with a BM giga based on other parks' recent coaster purchases, especially leviathan and the carowinds giga.
I'm failing to see how Cedar Fair's purchasing decisions have any bearing on what Busch Gardens would do. But that's just me.

Put me in the camp that thinks the "LOL" was a nice touch. Nothing wrong with the park having a little fun!
-
If BGW and SDC could make a baby that would be my dream park.

Once again amazing job on the Trip Report Andy! Makes me really sad that I am not doing a TPR tour this year. I'm so glad you were there to document what has easily been the best 12 days of my life.
