  1. Definitely one of the prettier parks I've ever seen; really nice. Yet another park to put on the Wish List... but sheesh, those Starflyers just freak me right the hell out.
  2. Sweeeeet!! Man, the exteriors and the cars look GREAT! Can't wait to try this baby out. Awesome that you put in all those miles; thanks! Also, a shout-out to R&R Creative Designs, the folks who are responsible for the new Castle and a lot of the dark ride goodness at SCBB! Booyah!
  3. ^ Okay, how about this? With the introduction of the "Little Six" character after the coaster's initial theme design, the ride's planners realized that since this is a ride for the kids primarily, it should be called "Little Six's Dance Coaster." But they hadn't negotiated the rights to use the actor's likeness for anything outside of advertisements and have had to go back and renegotiate to get permission to use said likeness for any rides and/or in-park entertainments... and those negotiations are really dragging on and on... ...Yeah, that's gotta be it...
  4. Now THAT is how you sell a drop tower! GREAT commersh! Suddenly makes me wish there was a website/YouTube channel/whatever that catalogued really killer thrill ride TV ads... I remember an oldie that pimped out the Big, Bad Wolf well before there was any coaster to shoot. Had a nice "American Werewolf In London" vibe. Does such a thing already exist?
  5. Wow, that looks like a TON of fun, even for someone who's terrified of heights! Awesome, and thanks for the photos and videos!
  6. Put me down as another enthusiast who would rather see a ride slightly tamed to go on and live a long, healthy life, than a ride that burns itself out before its time (Eagle Fortress... ) Still can't wait for August! And leave Anaconda!!!
  7. These trip reports from far away places are really special; thanks for sharing these great photos! That sky ride has to break some kind of record...
  8. Poor Tom Cruise... Anyway, great TR and you've really convinced me that this summer must include a visit to Castle Park and the Scandia joint. And janky it may be, but the Tree Top Racers are da bombdiddy-diggity.
  9. I've never done a zip line attraction and this sounds like the one do do first. Great way to live out some James Bond-style fantasies. (If only Jane Seymour were waiting at the exit... )
  10. ^ I have seen a video (on YouTube, I think) showing the entire structure almost rippling back and forth as the train comes up a hill after the helix drop (again, I think). Unbelievably creepy-looking. I'd swear it was a digital effect. I sure hope if the Texas Giant reboot works, they'll take a stab at restoring this coaster's legendary first drop... would have loved to have tried that back in the day...
  11. The more I see of that red beam track going in, the more I'm intrigued... Really can't wait to try this one out. So odd looking... And one more "BOOOO!" to the train ad wraps. Much hatred for those.
  12. My only major beef with the outgoing management is the train wrap advertising. I know they need the benjamins, and I'm sure those deals are lucrative, and I know Six Flags isn't really trying to be Disney so who cares if ride "themes" are sullied, and I know this sort of thing is happening just about everywhere else in the world, but sheesh... Just seems hopelessly crass. But if SFMM is any indication, those guys did a lot right. Anyhoo, it is good to see people with real theme park management under their belt taking the reins. (Also, I FINALLY understand the fluffy, fluffy bunnies... thing!)
  13. Can't get enough of these trip reports from The Shore and I'm kicking myself for living so many years in NY and never getting to Keansburg. Spook House entices very much. Thanks!
  14. .... .... It may not be the greatest coaster in the world, but with speed like that, I just don't care... Wow.
  15. "Oceans of Darkness" looks sweet! That little diving bell car is rockin'. How was that, scary or fun or some combination? Crazy Euro/Asian dark rides make me weak in the knees...
  16. Euro-fairs pwn. Nice shots, and the Pinfari coaster does look pretty gnarly! Perfect "when I win the lottery, I'll put one in my backyard" coaster.
  17. Every time I pass by another horrible accident on my local freeway commute (which happens more than you'd believe - the Ventura 101 sucks ass), I think how much I'd rather be riding just about any roller coaster in the world, than driving down this asphalt death-trap. These pictures do nothing to change that attitude.
  18. Ah, so THAT'S what a "Turbo" is... couple of people have told me that Turbos were the most intense spin 'n' spews they'd ever been on, and I've never so much as seen one, except for a single online photo... Do any still exist?
  19. Cool TR and now I've learned that the thing I must do at this park is no longer that sweet looking Bobsled coaster, but the "fun, bizarre datinghouse walkthrough." Must. Do.
  20. ^What he said. Love the big kitty! (Great photos all around!)
  21. This neat park has a (very) mini IOA thing going on with that entrance plaza. Cool pix; gracias!
  22. " Ho-ho-hold on, hold on one second. This installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it." "They can BILL me!" (I so love Aliens...)
  23. As truly horrible as my last ride on this debacle was (late spring '09), this still makes me kind of sad. SOB came along during that crazy, awesome turn-of-the-century boom period when huge new coasters were opening all over the damned place, and I actually got a few decent rides on it during those early years. Here's hoping the Iron Giant makeover works and can be used to save this puppy, too.
  24. ... just watched that POV+ video again... the stuff of legend... kills me to have missed this ride.
