I LOVE the color combination of the track & supports!!
^^ I too was wondering about Comet's queue and where it will be relocated.

^ Kennywood's press release states a 52" height requirement, though.

New for 2012.... Black Widow, a Zamperla Giant Discovery (as expected by many)!
Official press release with the ride details here.
Ride height: 90'
Maximum swing height: 146'
Capacity of 40 riders per cycle
Something wicked is coming to Kennywood. With the start of the summer season a short five months away, Kennywood is proud to announce Black Widow as our newest ride for 2012!“Black Widow will have a combination of height, airtime and thrill factor,” explains Kennywood General Manager Jerome Gibas. “Kennywood offers a great variety of ride experiences and Black Widow will provide our guests with a new dimension of thrill.”
The Black Widow experience starts with riders sitting in outward-facing suspended seats that form a giant circle with a total of 40 riders. With legs dangling freely, each rider is secured with a shoulder restraint. Then the thrill begins. The giant circle begins to swing in a pendulum motion while rotating counterclockwise. At the peak of the swing riders will reach a height of 146 feet above the ground and experience that feeling of weightlessness coveted by thrill seekers. The counterclockwise rotation and pendulum motion creates a variety of different sensations depending on a rider’s specific position. The combination of both elements results in a unique ride experience every time!
Black Widow will stand at 90 feet tall but will reach a height of 146 feet in full swing with an angle of 120 degrees from the center. The pendulum motion propels riders back and forth at 68 miles per hour.
While riding Black Widow, guests experience a one of a kind perspective of Lost Kennywood.
Black Widow will have a height requirement of 52” tall. Each of the 40 seats has an individual shoulder lap restraint. For pictures or more information on Black Widow’s manufacturer, Zamperla, visit http://www.zamperla.com/en/product/145/giant-discovery.html
Experience the excitement of Black Widow all summer long. Purchase a 2012 Kennywood Season Pass for only $84.99. Hurry before the sale ends.

Has anyone been on one of these? To me, they look to be potentially more fun than a Huss Giant Frisbee. Any truth to that?
ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and copied the press release so people didn't have to jump to see it. Thanks for sharing this with us!

The guy from the construction crew who has been posting videos just posted another:
-
Anyone gonna get pics of deconstruction?
We have some pictures from inside and outside the park as well as a video over on the Kennywood Connection Facebook if anyone is interested.
-
Apparently the site is flooded once again...
-
There were flyers there at one point, yes. Whatever is going in Pitt Fall's spot is larger than Swing Around, though, based on the markers I've seen.
-
Yes, we do know it's not Huss because Kennywood confirmed to me (Kennywood Connection) on 11/29 that it will not be Huss and I posted it on our forums. I guess someone on our forums emailed Lance about it. We should be heading out to the park to get some pictures / video when they do take the tower down.
In other news, Kennywood Connection was at the Holiday Lights preview night last night... and I don't think it will disappoint! We've posted a bunch of pictures as well as a short video of one of two 15 minute light shows they'll be showing. They will alternate every 30 minutes.

Very awesome tour... thanks guys!
On the topic of the chain lift from a couple pages back, do we actually know that the chain lift on this thing will be as slow as the "normal" B&M chain lifts? This is their first coaster of this kind, after all... so why not their first "faster" lift to go along with it! You'd think they would want it to be quicker anyways to keep the ride capacity reasonable.
One other question thing not specific to Leviathan but somewhat related... why does B&M always have the "fence" under the lift and brake runs? It is for safety to catch someone in the unfortunate event they might fall during an evacuation? No other manufacturer does this, correct?
-
Are there any pictures of the track yet?
-
So unless the first drop is going all the way to ground level through a trench or something, I doubt it will actually be longer than 300'.
It appears that may in fact be the case!
-
Indeed it is... and there's still more to come!
-
Also, is anybody else not seeing pictures? I can't see pics on this thread, the IAAPA thread and a few others. It could be firewalls at work but I'm just curious.
They're working here. Your work's Internet filter is likely blocking the images that are coming from Facebook (most of the ones in this thread, at least).
-
It was sold to a park in another country somewhere. There is lots of speculation as to what the new ride may be... many think a Frisbee type ride. Nothing has been confirmed yet.
-
The crane isn't scheduled to show up until after Thanksgiving. There are also many markings and some stakes on the ground around Pitt Fall for the new ride.
Adam, what is that ride in the picture?
-
Sorry, read it too quick apparently.
-
^ Well, that's the angle of the descent... the lift definitely isn't that high of an angle.

^^ EDIT: Sorry, misread your question. Ignore me.

Lap bars?!?!?!?
-
I waited from almost at the entrance in May this year.

Let's bring morgan back from the dead to make Anaconda's revenge!
Wow, if they could do a number on this the way they did Steel Phantom, now that would be friggin sweet!!!!
That would be all kinds of awesome.
I'll third that!

Kennywood needs some votes here... help us out!
-
Dom497, sounds good to me!
Also, on the discussion of what the height of the first drop will end up being...to me it looks like the trench ends up making the top of the track at the bottom of the first drop almost exactly even with ground level. Just a thought.
-
Hahah, nice! That's pretty awesome. Is that B&M track on wooden Thunderbolt-colored structure with Jackrabbit trains and sign?

My guess is they're probably just working on something with it.

Well, can parks choose their own height requirement which may differ from the manufacturer's? Maybe the manufacturer's is just a recommended/suggested minimum? I forget how that works in general.
