  1. I'm currently planning on visiting Hersheypark for the first time next Tuesday, but low and behold, thunderstorms are in the forecast. And from what I understand east coast thunderstorms are very different from west coast thunderstorms?? Is the park still worth visiting? I personally don't mind walking around in rain all day, but want to at least experience a good number of coasters and waterslides.
  2. Oh man, the on-property accommodations are $200+/night; probably choosing some days that'll be packed. I'll probably just try to priceline somewhere nearby.
  3. I'll be heading to Hersheypark for the first time in a few weeks. Any advice on cheap hotels nearby? I'm not opposed to priceline bidding either. The cheaper, the better.
  4. Thanks Robb and everyone else involved for making WCB at SFMM such a blast. YOLO.
  5. Has anyone booked their hotel around SFMM for this year?? I've been trying on priceline for 3* and 3.5* and my last bid of $70 was rejected. Just wondering if anyone has had success this year with Hotwire or Priceline for SFMM hotels.
  6. I hope you're staying at the Madonna Inn in SLO. www.buzzfeed.com/louispeitzman/the-madonna-inn-rooms-you-have-to-stay-in-before-you-die
  7. PCH can totally be driven from SF to LA in a day. Some cool places to stop and checkout right off PCH are: You probably don't have time, but the Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the best aquariums in America, IMO. McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur. It's right off the freeway and super short hike (1/4 mile?) to get to an overlook of the waterfall and cove. Absolutely gorgeous. If you want kitschy, check out the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. Super gaudy interior and the men's restroom has been shown on several travel shows. There's a stone "waterfall" urinal. For really good clam chowder, stop at the Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach. I always stop there if i'm in the area. Make sure you get the seafood topper. http://www.yelp.com/biz/splash-cafe-pismo-beach
  8. Hmm...I can't seem to find my previous bids, but I'd start low at around $60 for 3.5 stars. Since you still have a lot of time till the event, I'd just slowly increase my bid each day till I get an offer. Once I get around to figuring out if I'm going or not, I'll post my bidding pattern on here.
  9. ^I typically priceline my hotel for WCB. I typically end up with either the Courtyard Santa Clarita Valencia or the Hyatt Regency Valencia.
  10. Slight extension to the question posed above, but I'll be visiting the park for the first time on Friday, 6/21. Unfortunately, I'll need to leave the park by 3pm, but I plan on being there right at opening. My question is, which coaster should I not bother with, to ensure I can maximize my day? Mind you, i'll be going by myself and I go to SFMM fairly regularly. Should I just get a fast pass???
  11. For those of you who have booked your SFMM hotel through Hotwire or Priceline, THIS YEAR, can you post your bid amount and which hotel you ended up at? Last year I ended up at the Courtyard By Marriott Santa Clarita Valencia with a bid of $70pn. Two years ago I ended up at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. I don't remember my bid though.
  12. ^^My friends and I hit up Superman during evening ERT last year!!......although after awhile, we did ask to get let off the ride. After four rides in a row, I felt like my brain was about to explode.
  13. Is that Happy Hour good on saturday too??? Since I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott down the street...I may just venture over.
  14. Thats a good price. The only thing I don't particulary like is you really can't pick your bed type. If it was just me in the room I would go for that price, but I need a 2 bed guarantee. I went ahead and booked the Hilton Garden Inn for 100. I like the HGI, really close to the park and an overall nice comfy hotel. Last year I did get the Valencia Hyatt for like 65 I believe. That was a great place. It was very nice being right across the street from restaurants and shopping. I pricelined the Hyatt Valencia last year and I called the desk to get two beds and they came through. I plan on doing the same with the Courtyard Mariott for my stay. I was hoping to get the same property, but I guess something must be going on where they're fairly booked up.
  15. For people's reference, I landed the 3* Courtyard Mariott for $70 on Priceline. I incrementally worked my way up from $45 for 3* hotels in the Valencia-Stevenson Ranch area.
  16. Anybody having luck with Priceline for hotels around Valencia????? I've been working my way up from $45/pn on 3 star hotels and i'm now at $66, which is well above what people have been posting on hotel bidding websites. Anybody land anything in valencia on priceline????
  17. Does anyone have any experience using priceline for hotels near SFMM?? I'm hoping someone could post their winning priceline bid and for which hotel.
  18. ^Yeah, I was on the Deja Vu train that got stuck in the station. There was initially a problem with a seatbelt being stuck in the first row, but that was fixed after some tugging and pulling. After that, it seemed like we were good to go...and after moving back a couple feet, it stopped. Mechanics came and I think they probably decided to just keep it down for the rest of ERT. This was around 10:30pm or so.
  19. Just to give everyone a heads up, the LA Marathon is on sunday and there'll be some road closures and probably just some general road traffic sunday morning. Here's the course map: http://www.lamarathon.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/marathon%20official%20map.pdf Anybody know of any good places to grab a drink or two or three... in Valencia?? I'm staying at the Hyatt Valencia.
