Record Breaking Waterslide?
Midgetman82 replied to ultradude306's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Schlitterbahn in Kansas City is in the design stage of creating the world's tallest, and hopefully fastest, water slide in the world. No statistics on the slide have been released yet, but it is said to be taller than Insano at Beach park in Brazil. The slide will use inline rafts, and may have a hill after the initial record-setting drop. -
I rode a whirly wheel raft at the Kalahari Resort on their biggest raft rides with my cousin. They're not bad. You practically lounge in them since your feet are a little higher than how high they would be in, say, a four-leaf clover raft. Your butt can never touch the surface of the slide either. Slides looks great, and I love seeing more products by ProSlide.

The "Say Something Random" Thread

I know they stopped America's space shuttle program, but I would really like for a really good roller coaster to be themed to a space shuttle. Japan has plenty, and I don't see enough in America. Off the top of my head, Top Thrill Dragster or Dare Devil Dive would probably work if they were re-themed to such things, but that's just wishful thinking I guess. -
New Major Theme Park for Fort Myers!!?
Midgetman82 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Scrolled pretty deep down their Facebook page and found they opened it in 2010. It's been nothing but an "idea" since as far as I could tell. No plans or ideas about any specific attractions, or what kind of experiences they want to pull into the four sections of their park, which are called Alternet, Chroma, Xeridon, and Etheria. They've done some research though, going to gaming conventions and even attending last year's IAAPA. Purely my opinion, but the people coming up with this park don't really seem like business men, or people with the money to even break ground with this. Just some guys who were playing on their Xbox one day and though "what if someone made a video game theme park?" Then felt they should take it into their own hands to do so. I'm not sure what to expect, but I surely don't expect anything with big-ish rides like Freestyle, or something that requires an exorbitance from both public and government like the Noah's Ark in Northern Kentucky. -
There was a time I was at the Kentucky State Fair and the Inverter ride had a no single riders sign. I looked around to see if there would be anyone willing to pair up with me, but it didn't seem like there would be any other single riders that were about to ride. I got in line anyways and the operator told me I could get on anyways, I just chose a row with a few people in it already. I guess it wasn't strict that I find someone to get on the ride with me. And for old single lap-bar rides that require partners, I did go to a local county fair a few years ago that had a loop-o-plane and I got to ride it completely by myself. As for rides that are strict with it, both Ring-of-Fire rides that I've been on (one at KY state fair, and the other at the Seattle amusement park) didn't allow singles. KY State Fair, I found a girl who was willing to ride with me, but never got on due to them having problems with it.

Had a bit of flight problems that morning and didn't get to the park until later in the day. Only got 2 hours 40 minutes into lapping Gatekeeper 4 times and Millenium Force 3 (didn't even know Raptor was open ). Glad to have made it there at all, and to have made it back home same-day! My first Wingrider, and a wonderful experience it was! I didn't expect to be hitting such strong g's on it as well! Though the restraints didn't crush me, it did press down on my collar bones a bit, and they still feel mildly sore when I rub them. Nothing much of a complaint from me, really. -

That looks amazing! Not in a "wow, I would never second guess trying any of these" kind of amazing, but in a very interesting view of how someone else makes knockoffs of relatively notorious rides. Those rides sure do look thrilling. Great trip report, and thanks for sharing. -

Hoping it's gonna be good considering when I can arrive (and when I might leave). Other than that, I'm giddy with excitement! -
What is going on with La Qua?
Midgetman82 replied to coastercrazy216's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I should have been more specific. I meant if they decided to take it down in the long run, as in they run it, find more problems, and eventually just decide to remove it. I'm hoping none of that happens. -

Great pictures of the coaster. That red on top of the rails in the 6th photo looks pretty bad. Hope they get it running eventually instead of taking it down, looks like a decent coaster despite it being tame. -

I thought the same thing. More like a strong air air/mist curtain added to, in a sense, "throw you off" a little more during the ride. A way of blinding you slightly before coming into that airtime-induced drop. -

Almost every time I rode i305, I've greyed out on it as well. Along with that, I recollect greying out on Batman the ride and Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia, Montu at Busch gardens, and the enterprise ride at Kentucky Kingdom. Can't say I know what could prevent it for me other than allowing my body to adjust to the higher forces and summer heat mix. After a few rerides or other rides, I'm usually okay and grey out less. -
Because people like feedback, and I for some reason feel like giving some: Invertalon: I agree with Beemer Boy about the eagle pic. Love that it looks like it has a questioning facial expression! The closeup of the second bird is also astounding! pdcon: Disneyland seems to be one of the most photogenic parks I see pretty often! Love the photo of California Screamin' and the Ferris Wheel! Start playing with white balance and see what else pops up. Randomman295: I like how a lot of the shots came out. My personal favorite is of the curvy Riddler's Revenge track and the dark tone in it. By the way, people would be surprised how well some point-and-shoots can take pictures if they play with their cameras enough and find settings that work a better photo out of it! RideofSteel: I follow you on Tumblr. Angry Gumball: That last photo with the cobra coaster came out excellent. I've little experience shooting RAW and have yet to try HDR, but your photos look like they're coming out good! I'm no pro. I'm just another guy with a DSLR and a few lenses who felt like responding since people do like feedback, and I love seeing other people's photographs while I strive to get better! That said, here's some of mine from the past few months. This last one was me delving into lightning shots. A calm lightning storm rolled by with some rain, so I delved into that unfamiliar field.

Favorite Outdoor Activities (Besides Coaster Riding)
Midgetman82 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Random, Random, Random
Snowboarding, but more as a guy-with-money activity versus a real snowboarder's passion since there aren't a whole lot of ski resorts in or near Kentucky, nor is there a lot of snow here, and it's expensive to do such stuff. -

Granted, but it will be like Yolocoaster except shorter somehow. I wish I could think of a wish. -

Seeing as the ride has now been installed and the train has technically rolled along the tracks, if this park drops out and the rides become available, this could probably be sold as "like-new." Then, it's only a matter of which parks fight and win it. And I concur on the notion that the ride looks big! -
^i305 went through three phases after it opened: 1) Trims on the first drop. 2) Change in restraints. 3) Shortening the length of the huge turnaround and removing the first-drop trims. As far as what you said about the megalite, you're probably right. Capacity-wise, Holiday World would be more than perfect for it (in my opinion, of course). HW's water park usually have the longest lines due to the summer heat, and some because they can't handle the wooden coasters, but I'm very certain it would be a huge hit at the park if it were implemented there. I guess I've only seen grown-folks enjoying their spins on the megalites rather than kids. *cough partly thanks to TPR POV's cough*

I've seen mats used on body slides, but none that have straps on them! It seems like an interesting alternative for slides that might have some uneven surfaces to them as well. I'm sure the faster body slides become, the more the rushing water could hurt. This might soften the hits.
-
Oh wow, I just looked it up on YouTube! [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/XCZlyWXneN0[/youtu_be] I've never seen something like this used on a water slide before! It looks kinda ridiculous, to be honest.

^Throw in those sidings like what was later installed on Xcelerator as well, and a park would probably consider. I'd love, as much as anybody else (within a certain vicinity of the park), for one to be built at Holiday World. But, like what was written above, the coaster seems pretty intense for a family park. Sure Voyage is a beast of a coaster and a lot of their coasters can have some pretty strong laterals, but I'd expect HW to invest in a less intense steel coaster so that more of their target audience would want to ride it, be able to ride it, and be comfortable riding it.

Granted, only now they tattoo it onto every rider's face. I wish I wish there were more indoor launched roller coasters. -
^^They're making riders wear sleds on an aqualoop?

Then I'd look like this If they discovered a new visible color?
