Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I think rides like Montu can get away with them due to the Egyptian theming, but only if they paint them the same colors and make them look like underground chambers. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I got it too, but proceeded anyways and it seems to be fine. All backseat riders will wear special boots and be told to hold their feet down firmly or else it won't work properly. Coaster still looks pretty fun to me, and I forgot that its fastest point won't be the bottom of the first drop. -
I'm really glad I read through this whole thread, very entertaining and true! I only rode Gatekeeper, and it was my first B&M wing rider. I thought it was kinda fun, but nothing spectacular. It's something I can probably pass up if I ever head back to the park and the line is at a certain length. I'm more of a hardcore "old school" B&M fanboy, but enough of B&M's new stuff might make me switch over to being a Gerstlauer fanboy. How about taking a hard look at literally ANYTHING. I mean, I rode Iron Shark this year. A compact, tiny little Gerstlauer that packed WAAAAAAY more forces, fun and excitement than just about anything B&M has done in the last 10 years. I *get* B&M Fanboys for what they did from 1992 - 2000. They had almost a perfect track record of hits during those years. Made some of (still) the best coasters out there. Then from 2001 - 2006, it was hit and miss, with nothing in that time frame being anywhere as good as the earlier years, and then 2007 onwards, c'mon... they are just phoning it in. The last six years have been a snoozefest of "trying to like" a bunch of forceless coasters because they *used* to make the most badass OMFG BLOW YOUR MIND AWAY coasters 20 years ago. I just simply cannot get excited about a new B&M anymore because they don't make exciting rides anymore. --Robb "There. I said it." Alvey Have I mentioned how much I'm looking forward to all the Kings Island fans getting so stoked for Banshee and then having you, and others, tear it apart? I'm practically bouncing with anticipation. As am I.

ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!
Midgetman82 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Secret santa gift arrived at my house! Gonna have to wait 'till Christmas to open it though, but thank you gifter! -
They're probably keeping their focus on certain things within the park at the moment. Some water slide pieces have arrived. Source I'd love to go check on the park's progress myself, but I'm away at college. I also feel like I might be bothering them with the few (but notable) reports I've done of the park. Also, my dad informed me that a letter arrived for me from Kentucky Kingdom. I'm assuming it's the Season Pass (and not the free water bottle ), but I'll check when I get back home from college this weekend.

ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange 2013!
Midgetman82 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To my giftee, your present had been sent, though due to some troubles, it might arrive in two parts. I'd recommend waiting until the second arrives before opening either-or... your choice though. -

Midgetman82 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm still waiting on an apparently late package that will (fingers crossed) arrive before Wednesday so I can ship it out to my giftee a.s.a.p. If it doesn't, I'm probably going to have to go with my "plan-b" present and send it before deadline. If that second-half does arrive after, would it be okay to send it out post-deadline? -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Midgetman82 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good ole' Shamu Express at Sea World Orlando back in August, just in time for National Roller Coaster Day 2013 too. -

I'm waiting for something to come in the mail before I can send it to my giftee. I'm hoping I can get it here and get it out before it's too late. Also, I won't be able to even see my gift given to me until christmas break probably when I get back home. -
^Considering what's going on with Six Flags lately, thats a tough one. Might have to go with Cedar Fair. Win the lottery of your choice, or inherit your own country?

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I kinda think they can afford re-tracking it for quite a while, considering they have the two longest water coasters in the world, a new pirate ship, an Intamin Shoot the Chutes and many other things in their parks. Buying some new lumber to lay down on tracks probably isn't too big of a problem for them, but that's just my observation. -

Most Intense Waterslide Type???
Midgetman82 replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Most intense slide I've done was Dragon's Tail at White Water Atlanta, where you gain enough airtime to literally catapult off of the slide on the last two humps. I don't think trap door slides (well, WhiteWater's versions at least) are all that intense or scary, they just give people a quicker start down the slide. I'm interested to see ProSlide's take on tall trap door slides when they open the tallest body slide in America next year. If the experience is anything like Summit Plummet, it's probably not gonna get too good of a rep by locals. -

Midgetman82 replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still have some shopping to do as well, though I have an idea. Hope it's nice enough. Might try to get it out sometime this weekend or next week before Thanksgiving. -
Proslide Rocket Vs. Master Blaster?
Midgetman82 replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^WhiteWater West did some. I tried the Zip Coaster at Kalahari Resort, and that ride's pretty intense. Launches straight out of the station and over the first hill giving near-ejector airtime! It's not as good as the others though, due to the abrupt stop at the end. -
Proslide Rocket Vs. Master Blaster?
Midgetman82 replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorite has to be ProSlide's Rockets. Smoother surface throughout the entire flume, and has more of a roller coaster feel compared to most other slides. Plus, the Mammoth Rocket at Holiday World has an enormous amount of water drenching you the entire trip, more so than Master Blasters and ProSlide's regular Rockets! It doesn't feel as natural though since you feel a small tug when moving uphill (except for Mammoth). The Master Blasters are great fun too depending on the slide. I'm not a big fan of how the slit for water to blast riders uphill forces them to lift their butts. I DO like the very fast double-down slides at both Aquaventure parks, because they're followed by a long uphill blast section thanks to the speed, and you can do it with a one-person inner tube!
