Forces or Theming?
Midgetman82 replied to dropzonefan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't mean to bash, but I'd feel more comfortable if you fixed your spelling and grammar mistakes. Hard to say for me, though my "black or white" choice would be for more theming. If "not so good" theming counts for the latter, then something like Flight of Fear would be my pick. Not quite Disney quality, but still immersive in theming and wild in track layout (no airtime, of course). -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've noticed that if the Thanksgiving area ever needed to be switched to a more serious tone (not saying it should), it could easily transgress from Pilgrims to Vikings. The website looks nice, and the bridge sounds like a wonderful addition. It would definitely compliment the Thanksgiving area. Would the big Thanksgiving sign be placed within the bridge, at the front, or stay on Voyage? -

A boring evening was made better after reading through some of the last few pages of the Darien Lake TPR thread. -
^It was memtioned on the first page. ^^^^ That slide in particular was really, really old! For this reason, you mostly blame the water park themselves for not hiring a fiberglass restoration team, or for not going in there and smoothing it out themselves. I know WhiteWater West has a thing going on where they can restore slides from old and bland, to extra shiney and smooth.

^At first, yes! I wasn't used to getting so much airtime on a waterslide and having lots of water sprayed in my face, so I absolutely hated it. But I rode it a few years later, and my opinion on it did a complete 180! I do have another thing I'd like to add to the topic though: Gaps between seams of body slides. Scratches your back like crazy.

How is this possible? How is Dragon's Tail the worst waterslide? I think it should be the best if you ask me. I was new to speed slides when I first rode it. The next time I rode it, I was prepared for the airtime moments, and loved every drop! I even waited in line a second time to try it again!

The NL/NL2 Preview Thread
Midgetman82 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I think the rules state you need at least 3 media (screenshots, video, etc.) to start a new thread. If you got that, I think you should go ahead! I'd like to see more! -
Happy Valley Shanghai opens water park.

Looks like a pretty big and pretty nice water park. And it's nice to see more of those Hydromag Hornets being built. I just hope one would be built in America soon! Thanks for the report. -
Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend = back in Louisville for a holiday = another drive by KK on Saturday, this time with something new to see! Water park construction begins going vertical! Looks like the ProSlide Mach complex is up for assembly first. A tower, and some ProSlide pieces were being assembled. No workers were out on this day. Since the park already has a ProSlide BulletBOWL, I'll assume this is probably the better and faster brother, the ProSlide CannonBOWL. More pieces from another vantage point. You'll see less and less of T2 once more towers and slides go up.

NoLimits 2 (NL2) Discussion Thread
Midgetman82 replied to A.J.'s topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
It took a bit of tweaking (and a lot of head-scratching), and copying certain spotlight files I wanted to use from C:\Program Files\NoLimits 2\scene objects\Lights to my park's documents folder, but I was eventually able to find out how to get them working and change them around without needing to alter the original files. Vehemence. This was a coaster I imported from NL1 and spruced up to look extra-pretty in NL2. The NL1 file for this coaster is on TPR's Exchange. Edit: The NL2 version is on the exchange now. -

Thank you so much! Now it's time to play around with these! I've been tooling with importing my old NL1 coasters, alongside attempting to build my own for the first time, and download some from online. Since there were only 6 uploaded onto TPR's exchange, I tried them all. The Mack Family Coaster was my favorite as well! Can't wait until the NL pros and gurus release their month-long plans and blow our minds all over again though! -

^^That Eurofigter looks promising. Of course, I'm only judging it by one photo! -
I see this as well. Er, how much steeper do you want it? Looks plenty steep to me. Twin Peaks in Italy is (due to the PTSD caused by it) near-vertical in my mind. Granted, in reality it is probably closer to a 60-degree drop. We could always compare. Spacemaker at Aqualandia (also in Italy) has a 60 degree slope, and that thing already looks extremely steep for a slide of its kind.

Which rides have given you greyouts?
Midgetman82 replied to rcjp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Only ones I can think of: Kings Dominion's i305 on almost every lap. Mindbender at Six Flags Over Georgia at one time on the first loop, but I guess I was still getting accustomed to the high humidity. Goliath at SFMM the last time I rode it, which was probably near 10 years ago. That helix finale was insane. -

^I appreciate all that you've done for this as well! Thank you! ^^Glad you liked it! -
I think things are starting to pick up a little now. Facebook Image Also, I was one of the bunch that attended the job fair since I needed a summer job for 2014. I stood in line for a fair 40 minutes before they opened the doors 30 minutes earlier than planned, and got to be part of the first bunch to go in, which was nice since it wasn't crowded until near the time I left. Front of the line. The line behind me stretched pretty far when it got closer to starting. Roller Skater car sitting on the floor looking pretty. Different booths for different departments the park was looking to hire.

TPR New Front Page In Development!
Midgetman82 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I looked at both and mainly saw one large difference between both: Twitter feed, or no Twitter Feed. While my ADD-driven mind tends to dislike pages with more smaller words on it than pictures, I do think its great you don't have to leave and visit another social media website to keep current on some things going on around TPR. Plus, the banner with the picture carousel isn't huge. Outside of that, I totally dig the separate scroll-able columns for "News & Updates" and "Official TPR Updates!" My choice is option 1. -

I actually did a small circle around the park the same time that post was made to Facebook (December 31). I saw that big metal barrel myself, but a few other small things to note like the pieces of metal rebar laying out in the area Lightning Run will be. I wasn't sure if it was new or taken from somewhere I don't know. Footers of Greezed Lightnin' looked like it was still being dug out of the ground to make way for the new coaster, and the station is fully in-tact. With this visit, I had also taken my new telephoto lens (100-400mm) for a little field performance test. So again, all photos from outside the fence. With the leaves gone and some landscaping having been done, you can now easily see the old GL building. The area has some metal laid out on the land. Roller Skater received a fresh coat of paint and some much needed landscaping since the last time I was here. Trains! There were still some movement going on in the water park expansion area, but it kinda looked like everyone was going home for the day. Saw the slides laid out as well, which was interesting. Happy new year!
