  1. I've only tried the Aqualoop on the Norwegian Breakaway ship last August. They're arguably some of the smallest Aqualoops you'll ever find, but still found it to be very fast from the low friction they get with the sprinklers in the tunnel. I haven't had a fear of not making the loop each time I rode them, but I was one of the many who valleyed once on the red slide. You rush towards the top and slow-down as usual, but I didn't quite make it over the peak (thanks to wearing a rash-guard shirt) and found myself going "uh-oh!" and started sliding backwards! After sliding past the "open-roof" escape hatch once, I slid forward, simply hopped out, and waited for a lifeguard to come get me and reset the slide. It was freaky, but very interesting nonetheless! Lost count for how many times I did these on the cruise, but It'd probably require three hands!
  2. It almost looks so much bigger in person than what it actually is, due to the extremity of angles the track takes. I haven't seen that drop in person, but boy does it look crazy steep!
  3. I was there just yesterday, and ^those curves definitely weren't there! It looked like this: I would've had this up earlier but... greetings from Florida
  4. The park is on fairground property, so it's tough to get close to without paying to get in. There's not a good road close to Lightning Run to get pictures without paying. There's days when there's nothing going on (or nothing major at least), so getting in is totally free. That, or you tell the toll booth person to hand you a voucher that'll refund you if you make it out within 30 minutes. Kinda sad I know this stuff, but eh. If you want any photos of Lightning Run, here's one I made on March 9... By now, the drop after this hill is completed, and reached the ground.
  5. Come to think of it, I see a better possibility of this park getting a Megalite versus Holiday World.
  6. Finer details, then I guess I can shoot for a release sometime next week.
  7. Yeah. I never did see updated footage on that thing, until just now when I googled it. Looks nice. [vimeo] [/vimeo]
  8. Uhh... Holy cow. This caught me far off guard... Well, at least Alabama Adventure will be getting the love it desparately needs. I'm just worried about how they'll handle the crowds in a totally different zone versus the one they had in Indiana. So glad to see this thread revived with something (relatively) positive too.
  9. I had let it simmer for a few weeks, then I went back and splashed some stuff on and around it. I think I'm getting somewhere with it. Just need to correct some supports.
  10. I'm sure other big coaster companies have done the same thing before. Mack and Intamin's a good example, I think, with their variations on mega-lite layouts. Either way, I can't wait to hear how the Cadillac of coaster companies take on this type.
  11. Out of the ones I've been on, the Crypt HUSS top spin at Kings Dominion sure surprised me. Crazy ride had me gripping hard on the restraints when it flipped, and I loved it! I also loved the super short lines! In terms of flat rides I've never been on, Tango looks like a crazy one from POV's I've seen.
  12. That's a pretty strong law, but I'm not surprised someone in California is trying to pass something like that. Kind of one of the reasons I wouldn't really want to move to there. Also it seems the bill only wants to stop the "entertainment" portion of Orca captivity. SeaWorld could probably keep their orcas, with the downside of stopping shows. 13. Nice tool. Banshee had one, so why not LR. I'll be headed back up to town this weekend, so I guess I'll get another look at the coaster.
  14. ACE Midwest's Facebook page is on fire in terms of providing updates, and the park is building the ride crazy fast! Take a look! Source
  15. That's most likely going to be a heavily opinionated answer, depending on the rider. I doubt it'll track better than a megalite, but we'll just have to see I guess.
  16. For big name parks? Yeah, I'd totally see it at a Fun Spot park.
  17. Woah, seems we're already closing in on the 600' mark!
  18. ^He meant the blue and purple slide, not the orange. the beginning part of it looks like it gets wider before going into the helix, then it gets tighter near the end before green.
  19. ^It also has Grona Lund's "Insane", along with "Favorite Vekoma Corkscrew" and "Ninja - Six Flags Over Georgia." Maybe it's for those who enjoyed the smaller versions more than the bigger versions?! --- My Top 20: Montu Busch Gardens Tamp FL,y,n,1 Millennium Force Cedar Point OH,y,y,2 X2 Six Flags Magic Mo CA,y,n,3 Intimidator 305 Kings Dominion VA,y,n,4 Favorite Wood Coaster Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,5 Fav Intamin Impulse Any Park Anywhere **,y,y,6 Top Thrill Dragster Cedar Point OH,y,y,7 Kumba Busch Gardens Tamp FL,y,n,8 Maverick Cedar Point OH,y,y,9 Tatsu Six Flags Magic Mo CA,y,n,10 Manta SeaWorld Orlando FL,y,y,11 Spongebob Squarepants Nickelodeon Univ MN,y,n,12 SheiKra Busch Gardens Tamp FL,y,n,13 Dominator Kings Dominion VA,y,n,14 Dare Devil Dive Six Flags Over Geo GA,y,n,15 Expedition Everest Disney Animal King FL,y,n,16 Incredible Hulk Islands of Adventu FL,y,n,17 Volcano: The Blast Co Kings Dominion VA,y,n,18 Mindbender Six Flags Over Geo GA,y,n,19 Goliath Six Flags Over Geo GA,y,n,20
  20. Yeah, I'm sure the marketing team covers a vast portion of things including relations and getting news of the park out there. They don't have people solely dedicated to updating the online and social media aspect of the park. (Maybe down the road, they'll have one. Who knows.)
  21. ^I meant if Colossus would change from OTSR to lap bar restraints, how much would the coaster improve with no more headbanging.
  22. ^Like Volcano at KD? That'd sure to be interesting, though I think they'd have to have the seats more reclined for safety reasons. I love the looks of these restraints, and the fact that more coaster companies are looking towards lap bars for their inverting coasters! I wonder how much it could improve a coaster like Thorpe Park's Colossus, considering the many reports of roughness from it.
  23. Houston, we have liftoff. My first time back since before track arrived! Basically the whole site's dug up with track/supports here and there. And a small part of track, from zig-zags to beginning of bunny hill finale, is up! Closer look, so you don't have to press your faces against the screen at the previous pic. Water park's also getting some look after
  24. Smokers? put 'em on a boat and push it out into open waters. In other words, yeah, I'm all for designated areas. I hate breathing-in secondhand smoke as it gives me headaches. When the spot t smoke is far enough from the crowd and well ventilated (don't cover them with a solid roof), it's a-okay with me.
