  1. Schlitterbahn is known for making many of their rides in-house. They were the ones that pioneered the Master Blasters. Without people like these pushing the boundaries of what water slides can/can't do, you wouldn't see some of today's craziest slides being built. I'm no engineer, but I think you're right considering that slides of this type and scale have never been done before by any other company, so it would make sense to do a bit of trial-and-error just to see what the outcome would be. Besides, they were working with a strict deadline that kept getting pushed back, so I assume they did not have as much wiggle room to redesign as they wished they could have.
  2. I actually think reusing rides from there would be a good start in getting another major coaster installed sooner. And I love Dan's positivity in that video!
  3. ^^I was amazed at how big Hyena Falls expanded the park last year, but seeing those photos... wow! I totally underestimated how big this is supposed to be. Still excited for the announcement!
  4. ^Another company was brought in to make the tire-drive for The Hulk since B&M, as far as I was told, "refused" to do it. This might be the first time B&M dealt with doing their own launches... if all rumors were to be true.
  5. I noticed that Lightning Run now slows down before it crests the top of the lift hill instead of just rocketing over it. What's great about it is that the coaster builds more anticipation before the drop now! I was a little concerned about capacity issues or it making the ride more tame, but I haven't really noticed anything changed from how it originally ran.
  6. Along with other knockoff stuff my dad finds in his trips to China, he found me a knockoff GoPro camera and bought it for my birthday. This sure is gonna be interesting trying it out!
  7. ^And underground tunnels "of-love" deeper than Voyage's tunnels.
  8. Are we all forgetting that there was a report of a raft possibly going airborn on the drop during initial testings? Besides, the slide does what it's supposed to, which is to be the tallest in the world. Going down that drop is still going to be pretty exciting, and with less chances of injury.
  9. I don't know about jealousy, to be honest my skepticism is the lack of any information regarding his credentials on his website... I second this. I think we've yet to build any trust on him, and are only going off of gut instinct for now. My hope is that Golden Horse is only trying to turn its company around starting with replacing some of their previous designers (and maybe not cut corners anywhere), but I know less on this subject than most of you (I assume) and can't side with anyone until I hear more about it. To Camiel, I wish the best to him and his reputation for his works with Golden Horse. As for stealing or making variations from other companies' designs, "Haven't we" "seen things" "like this" "done before?" Many times, it's just companies offering variations/alternatives for other parks to use; especially if it's cheaper.
  10. ^I was thinking the length of the slide was 1,000 feet, while the distance between the drop capsule and splashdown is 540 feet... but if the length of the slide is actually 540 feet, then what was the author thinking?
  11. I was expecting it would be an aqualoop slide, it probably would've suited the park much better. I do think it's still pretty neat they put in two flat loops instead of just one. ^Also concerning the statistics they put up, it kind of annoys me when a park bends facts like that and makes it sound sorta gimmicky. I'm sure it advertises well, but the slide is already really high up if it starts on the same level as H2-Oh-No!.
  12. Superdooperlooper at Hershey Park Awesome! Never really noticed the trains on that one before. It's the only schwarzkopf I've ever been able to ride and I quite liked the trains, pretty comfortable. I don't think those are the coaster's original trains. Weren't those orange trains made by Gerstlauer or another similar company? Hooray! Maybe when this thread hits 10k, you'd be the one to take that cake as well!
  13. Multiple sources said it would be opening on June 29, this upcoming Sunday. Edit: This Thursday is a media event day for the slide.
  14. I don't think the Voyage really needs any inversions to make it a better coaster. Hades 360 showed that even with brand new trains and a revised section of track that it doesn't necessarily promise a better ride experience (although I've heard the new section on it is actually bearable).
  15. I'm still a little upset no parks are theming their coasters to something involving fictional space flight, even if NASA had to stop human space flights. First coasters that come to my mind that could definitely do it are Dare Devil Dive (SFOG), Top Thrill Dragster, and/or Kingda Ka.
  16. In terms of providing best well-rounded experiences, I'd say the Batman clones (mainly the SFOG version) for how intense they can be. Top Thrill Dragster takes my second-place cake for the total adrenaline rush!
  17. I think it'd be appropriate to reform this thread into an official Adventure Land discussion thread, but that final decision would be up to the mods/admins. As long as there's new things popping up about the park, I don't see why there can't be discussions about them. Besides, I only first heard about this park when I learned of Storm Chaser!
  18. Since the trains on Lightning Run are very similar to those by RMC (designer was from RMC anyways), I noticed that the conceptualized train didn't have grab handles. Then they eventually added these seemingly flimsy rubber handles that seem more like an aesthetic piece more than something you can truly grab on to for any type of support during the ride. Maybe it's for comfort of mind for some people?
  19. Holiday World has a scale for both of their water coasters that, upon the group of riders standing on it, shows either a green or red light on whether there's good amount or too much weight. It's not so bad since you're weighed as a group, but water parks with Aqualoop slides have to weigh you individually with a normal bathroom scale. I haven't seen it done in the dry side of parks though, which would be interesting to say the least.
  20. You mean like this one? Construction for 2015 begins by Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, on Flickr
  21. I don't normally scan though Facebook comments on amusement park pages, but this one on KK's caught me off guard. (Posted sometime today, meaning the park's closing time was 7pm.) I just... I don't know
  22. ^ It took me a a few seconds, but then I got it.
  23. I thought it was that people on-board were starting to regret joining the journey and think that it's all a lost cause, or that some people would be losing hope in the new attraction being promising (I still have hope/courage!). They did just go through the first storm on the trip. Also, hearing that footers are being put in is like music to my ears!
