How Often Do You Go To Your Local Park?
Midgetman82 replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I typically hit Holiday World twice a year on average. KK's my nearest park (about 1 hour 15 minutes when I'm at college). I visited it about 10 times last summer thanks to my season pass, and those were typically on every other weekend. -
Romon World to open in China

I seriously fear for that first hill, but omg the layout and the theming! -

I'd like to also hop onboard this "thankful for TPR" train. Of all the forums that I've tried to have decent conversations with about the industry, none of them rank as well as this one. Plus, outside the forums, everyone here has been the nicest and most accepting (compared to others where I've had less favorable experiences). Most notable ones were how open and friendly members were during coaster events both hosted by parks and one hosted by TPR I attended back in 2012. Thank you to all of you, and thank you to Robb and Elissa. -
Didn't they mention somewhere that they still won't do a Halloween event? I was skeptical on the fact that they planned to open on the same weekend as each other, but then I realized that it's a whole weekend to spend at two parks back to back! I assume both parks will be packed on Saturday, creating less-than-favorable lines at both. So I guess you'd have to assume whichever one handles crowds better. My plans would be centered around Kentucky Kingdom on Saturday, and Holiday World on Sunday so hopefully the HW opening day crowds would dissipate by day-two.

I found where the conversation started, and my jaw couldn't have fallen on the ground harder... This steps into certain codes that any photographer is (or should be) taught. Here's a copy-paste: This doesn't step into government issues (and this isn't the police, it's park security), but it's still valid if you're in a public space. It's kinda hard to hide a roller coaster, so why bend-over backwards trying to stop people?! Of course this all get's thrown out the window if you were truly trespassing, which apparently you weren't. Glad you got it reversed, even though it sucks you lost your photos. Edit: I'm sure you knew about the above by now, but a similar incident happened to someone that went to Kings Island not long ago, and was taken in by security for photographing the park... that's it.

*Heating systems in pools and slides. *A community of die-hard amusement/theme park fans *Ed Hart, for dedicating his time in getting Kentucky Kingdom revitalized and reopened, and for spending money on bringing some kick-a$$ attractions to the park and reopened. *Ride Centerline, and everyone involved with it. *The entire amusement park industry in general, for being able to bring people way to enjoy thrills without risking their lives in extremely dangerous activities (most of the time ). I could go on, but this is all I could think of at the moment. Happy Turkey Day, everyone! -
First actual holiday break since Labor Day.

The "Say Something Random" Thread

Coaster withdrawls... Doc... I don't think... I'm gonna... make it... *gasps for air* -
I went once this year. My intentions on attending the fair usually revolve around trying out whatever rides they have on the midway. They apparently have a KMG booster-type-ride that they install during the second-half of the fair, and I've missed it two years in a row. Also, Kentucky Kingdom was open later during the fair, so I was able to get some semi-night laps on some rides. The Fireball ride at the fair used to be my favorite ride, but it now has way too short of a ride-cycle (coincidentally, the line always feels too long ). My favorite ride went to Vertigo star flyer ride, but with Kentucky Kingdom getting a 130 foot tall version of it next year...

Yup, the roll's half-way complete with the upside down portion already there. Imagine if they got all electrical components up before New Year's Eve. Edit: I realize they would probably have to finish the buildings themselves before they can finish electrical... so instead: Imagine if they got all buildings up and finished before New Year's Eve. -
I mean 90% of the fairgrounds is just a parking lot. They could list turn the stadium area into a parking lot, and allow KK to build on the parking lot close to them. That way they could expand and keep the same insane amount of parking they already have. Well, they do use a lot of that parking space up when it comes to the State Fair coming into town. I've had friends with stories of having to park far away or in grass just to go to it. I get what you mean though, as there is still some room for possible expansion. There are some plots of unused land behind T-Cubed and Deep Water Dive. Bottom left, the grassy areas. There's a couple of homes there, but it didn't look like anybody "lived" there. I think the biggest disadvantage of being there would be the fact that it's directly under the flight path to one of the airport's runway, so the height limit in that area would be super-low. Also, while looking through street view, I noticed the Google car once went behind the park sometime before its closure and still have pics posted of Chang.

"Welcome back riders, how was your ride?"
Midgetman82 replied to Samuel's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I say that counts! Banshee has gotten plenty of pretty excited riders coming back to the station, as well as Diamondback when they have some pretty entertaining ops running it. I think Diamondback's post-ride cheering will last longer than Banshee's though. -
I was always especially curious about those slides from Spashtacular. The radius of those turns after the free-fall have to produce some wicked g's. Ouch.

I sense pretty nighttime photos for the park next year. First with HallowSwings, then Sparkler, then Mayflower, and now a roller coaster! Something to add to my collection! -

^Oh. Then I see what you mean. Personally, I don't think we need to see another bird fixed to the front of yet another wing rider... but that's just my $0.02. Everybody's a critic! -

That teal and yellow is going to look great against the orange track! I can see how people might be annoyed of the color scheme (reminds me of old Invertigo color schemes), but I don't see how anyone thinks they can't go together. Lack of theming? Haven't you seen the renderings of the station and patio area near it? It's definitely more than what Gatekeeper received. -

I'm thoroughly impressed in how little of deforestation you did in putting the ride in. The tree branches in the first photo weren't even moved!
