  1. Sky Catcher's gonna need cranes, and there was some groundwork going on in the area when I was last there. So it's a slight possibility they could be going vertical with it soon. Just a thought as I haven't seen it yet, and won't be around if they do go vertical soon.
  2. ^^They're a must on ferris wheels, if you ask me. KK should get some working on rides eventually, apart form the white chaser lights on Thunder Run's lift hill.
  3. You can literally feel the weight of reality settling in... Again, hope I'm not bending anything out of context by skipping a few less important lines. Please do visit the article, though. There's a nice and short video overviewing the project, and it gives a shout-out to another park further north later in the video.
  4. Worse than removing/not adding any rides, they let the park go to crap. It was dirty, faded, rides had half finished themes and advertisements. There just was nothing good going for the park during the six flags era, and the park got a terrible repuation, which was well deserved. Really the whole six flags brand got a bad reputation during/prior to the premier bankruptcy. It will take a few seasons of good rides and atmosphere to turn this around. This year seemed like a good start though! Not to completely defend Six Flags for much of the choices they made in that era (and I think there had been a similar conversation here many moons ago on the same topic), but there was a very late point in time when the park started looking better (mostly in '09). Things were a bit cleaner, and there was far more greenery (large bushes and trees) to remove the urban feeling of the surrounding area outside of the park. A friend and I had actually bumped into the park manager at that time and we talked for a little before continuing. But you're right for the most part. It was far too late for the park, because the dirty (a better suited, but more distasteful term used was "ghetto") reputation that had built-up before then had already stuck, so people didn't like to visit for many of the reasons you listed. The park looks 100x better now than what is used to look like.
  5. ^Well, that's definitely what happened the first time he tried to get the park back. But then when everybody else got scared away by the Fair Board, his group was one of the very few left.
  6. There's that, and maybe then S&S will have their version ready. It may have lower capacity compared to Premier's but it's an option as well.
  7. Oh my, yes~ I love how they're removing what's necessary to clear the envelope!
  8. i cant see them adding a lot more to the front side of the park unless they expand the front side of the park. I bet one of the new rides goes by bluebeards bounty or whatever the pirate ship is called. Might as well finish off the last open, easily accasable spot in the front of the park so they can start landscaping and stuff. It's all dirt right now. Not all of it. I made another stop by the park today and had more time to look at some things. There's short, fuzzy grass that has now grown under Lightning Run! There's been a lot going on in re-fencing what seems to be the perimeter of the entire front-half of the park, starting (and having completed) with the area around Lightning Run. Plus they're starting to set up extra fencing around the bottom of Lightning Run near wherever the track comes close to the ground. Lastly, I heard a lot of activity and movement coming from the area where Sky Catcher is going (couldn't see it from outside of the park), so they've definitely (technically) started groundwork construction on it. The best I could do at the time was with my camera phone, as I had forgotten my DSLR's memory card at home... Hard to see, but there is definitely grass now. It's slightly greener on this corner compared to the opposite corner of the ride. New extra fencing going up around the lower perimeter of Lightning Run. Less trees in the way of a particular favorite viewing angle of mine for this coaster. A new viewing angle of Lightning Run opened up thanks to the new fencing and the removal of some buildings and trees!
  9. Reason I say that is because with T3, thunder run , and the Raging rapids open that area would be just empty between thunder run and RR. It would make since that something would go there and open up that path under thunder run. Isn't the path under Thunder Run going to be opened anyways? I also wouldn't think that area would be entirely empty considering there's plenty of foliage, and the fact that it wraps around, and slightly under, Mt. Slide Hai.
  10. I'm absolutely dumbfounded by the last two videos. I'm waiting to hear from an issue involving someone dropping a metal stick (the selfie stick) from a ride, and the park THEN having to ban them.
  11. Nope... Nu 'uh... You still can't get my mind to fully believe that this is at Holiday World...
  12. I'm equally excited for both flats. Cyclos will be pretty thrilling and something the other (*ahem*) competing parks don't have. But let's not forget the 130 foot tall star flyer, Sky Catcher. The roughly 60-70 foot one that comes to the Kentucky State Fair (which I'm certain is the one GIF'ed on KK's website) has always been a fan favorite because of how smooth it operates compared to other rides while still being somewhat thrilling, and it'll definitely beat out Holiday World's 67 foot tall model.
  13. I'd personally say the same for Gerstlauer coasters, but I heard those are pretty good. I think launches on El Locos could work if done correctly, but I'm not certain about the shuttle aspect of this coaster. Ride capacity would be tremendously low (even if they'd stick with their two-row four-across style seating).
  14. It's a fairly small space too. It'd be interesting to see what could get put there... are there any Fabbri Boosters or Mondial Turbines in the United States?!
  15. Also, it reeeally helps to source the stuff you grab from random places on the internet. This includes adding a link directly to the specific post being referenced from Twitter and Facebook. Some of us wanna retweet/share that stuff without having to dig too much, 'ya know?
  16. I think I sort of saw it in the video. When it released from the second spike to pass through the bottom, at around 1:26 the last car kept going while the rest of the train stopped. That's absolutely terrifying.
  17. I made a quick detour by the park while I was still in Louisville yesterday and saw they were re-fencing part of the front-side of the park. Also the grass finally grew under Lightning run! Also this made the paper today: Courier-Journal
  18. I figured they'd be a bit of a problem after hearing my brother had dropped $80 on a selfie stick that could only attach a GoPro camera to the end of it (admittedly, it's pretty sturdy), but I didn't think it'd be THIS much of a problem... And it's not like companies like GoPro don't condone using them in amusement parks. They have their fair uses in other places... Not really amusement parks.
  19. It's hard to not like this park when there's things like this! Back to the Future's my favorite movie made in that decade, so seeing this is just excellent! I am trying my best to plan out my summer and make it to this event, but it's too soon to tell... Crossing my fingers I can though.
  20. Their inverted coasters aren't known for having very good capacity as far as I've heard (or witnessed with Volcano at Kings Dominion). The spinning coaster (ironically, same name) was touted as being almost too intense for some people who aren't prepared for how it handles. Granted, I'd like to see more of both of these coasters as well, and a slightly more tame version of a spinning coaster built but with inversions!
  21. I saw some of those same people on RCDB's Facebook commenting on another post, and I couldn't believe it myself! On a construction update of Fury 325.
  22. I deserve a better office chair.
  23. Through Coaster Counter, I've kept fairly close track of rides that I've been on. The top 5 are from repeat visits to local parks. 1. Voyage - 43 2. Lightning Run - 33 3. Legend - 30 4. Raven - 24 5. Thunder Run - 19 6. Banshee - 13 7. Intimidator 305 - 7 8. SheiKra - 7 9. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - 6 10. Montu - 6
  24. Louisville is quite flooded with billboards, bus stop posters, and newspaper ads from KK about their $59.95 deal. They might also be trying to make as much of that advertising money back as possible (or seeing if they can rake-in a little extra). Either way, I definitely don't see it as a bad thing.
  25. I was surprised to have received a signed Christmas card from Holiday World in the mail a few days ago! I didn't order anything, so I'm assuming maybe it was for those who attended Holiwood Nights? Still, it was a very nice surprise!
