  1. Given that both layouts appear to be the same with the little Twitter feed being the only difference, I prefer Layout 1. It gives us a little extra content accessible right on the main page that in no way detracts from any of the other features. The rotating images are still large enough to clearly be a main attention grabber. Overall I think both options are great in that they are fresh new looks that retain the TPR style everyone's grown accustomed to. So when it comes down to it I'd be happy to see either one!

  2. ^ Dude, I cannot agree more about Nichijou and Aku no Hana. Nichijou is one of the funniest series I've ever seen, and extremely heartfelt. Aku no Hana is just a friggin' head trip. I saw the first episode without knowing anything about it beforehand. I decided to go check out the manga... I ended up staying up the whole night reading all the available chapters. The animated version did a beautiful job capturing the atmosphere. That scene in the classroom where Kasuga finally cracks? MY GOD. Tears everywhere.

From your list, Ive also seen (and enjoyed) Elfen Lied, Gin no Saji, and Kill la Kill. Kill la Kill is exceeding my expectations so far. It's so frenetic and insane and I love it.

And don't worry about geeking out; sometimes you just gotta express it, haha.

  3. I'm quite amused with myself because amidst all this news I'm most curious about T2. Don't get me wrong, it's all wonderful news and I'm especially intrigued by TT's pending "refurbishment" (RMC, RMC, RMC, no whammies, STOP!!!!). But with words like "complete makeover," I can't help but wonder what that means for an SLC. Like others have been saying, I would guess this includes new trains, new paint job, and probably a theming re-vamp in the same vein as the Superman to Bizarro re-vamps (tunnels and fire DO make rides better).

  4. Just stopped by SFA for a quick visit. Here is the quick run down of what I did:

Mind Eraser (1 lap, walk on, 1 train operation)

Welp, I got my one lap for the year. Until 2014, Mind Eraser! And it's still the same orange and yellow except for the blue Kia advertisement wrapping on one of its trains.

Apocalypse (1 lap, ~15 min., 1 train operation)

I can see how on a busy day 1 train operation would be a problem; the staff was just doing "okay" with dispatches. Overall, I still think it's decently fun except for the exit of the corkscrew---major head bang-age.

    Joker's Jinx (1 lap, ~10 min., 1 train operation)

    A great ride as always.

Batwing (1 lap, ~10 min., 1 train operation)

Thank God they repainted Batwing's supports; they're now a very nice, dark charcoal color as opposed to rusting, faded purple. And I think I grow smidge more fond of this coaster every time I ride it.

Superman (2 laps, ~10-15 min., 1 train operation)

Maintenance was still working on the red train while the blue train seemed to me to be running well. Objectively, it was still kind of shaky. Personally, it didn't bother me and I had a blast as always; full train and hauling ass!

Wild One (1 lap, ~15 min., 1 train operation)

Sadly, I would have to agree that Wild One is running rougher than last year. However, it was running fast and still gave good air over most of the hills and nice laterals in the helix.

One thing that has not changed, however, is ride down time. In the 3.5 hours I was there Superman, Batwing, and Wild One all had breakdowns. They all got back up and running in relatively short time, but an inconvenience nonetheless.

Meanwhile, over in "I've been running with PTC's for the past decade plus change" land:

    I think something is missing...

  5. Had a great time at KD today with Team TPR! We were fortunate enough to have one of the GKTW families come and talk to us at lunch. It really put things in perspective, and seeing how grateful they were made it all worth it! Just an amazing time.
Had a great time at Kings Dominion, they gave all participants a little goodie bag that and some random Kings Dominion stuff in it. The new shirts this year were great looking too.

    ...

With that it was still one of the best days I've had at Kings Dominion and I can't thank Cedar Fair, Give Kids The World, and Thme Park Review for all being involved in letting us do an event like this. Looking forward to next year all ready!

I had a fantastic time at my first Coasting For Kids event. I made some new friends and got to spend time with some good friends again. I ended up getting 13 laps on Grizzly, 3 on Anaconda, 2 on Rebel Yell, 10 on I305, and 6 on Dominator before the rain stopped my group from riding Hurler... It was such a great and well put together event. I applaud Give Kids the World and Kings Dominion. I hope to participate again next year.

^ These. Shout out the King's Dominion crew!

It was great meeting and spending the day talking and riding coasters with fellow TPR'ers. I gotta hand it to everyone's endurance and dedication too; I was exhausted by the end! Hope we see each other again in the future, and I certainly hope I will be able to join the cause again next year.

Also, a huge thanks to King's Dominion and Cedar Fair for (1) hosting this spectacular event and (2) providing me this wonderful omen of death to hang over my bed!

  6. Anyone know about Gwazi's current and future status? I just went to BGT yesterday and saw that a temporary bridge was put In over the Tiger side's track in the station. It was for riders that had "reserved" seats in the middle few rows (what's that about?). The entire track is also already pretty rusty; I doubt it will be running any time this season.

Guest entry way built over Tiger's track.

  7. I like the old Morgan Hypers (like Wild Thing), even if they are essentially "mine trains on steroids."

^ Based on my experience with Steel Force, I would have to agree with that statement. Steel Force is my favorite ride at Dorney. It's nothing mind blowing, to be sure, but I always have so much fun riding it. It's... I don't know, this weird combination of comfortable/relaxing (lot's of room, pretty smooth ride, minimal restraints), but still thrilling with the big drops, floater air, and the speed (mainly around that helix). It's just a pleasant experience that brings a smile to my face.

This might just be my Maryland Pride talking, but I feel like Wild One at SFA is underrated. It does suffer from "flat bit" syndrome before the final helix, but I think it has great pacing, some good air time (back seat!), and intense but bearable laterals. For being such an old ride (albeit heavily modified), it still packs a punch.

EDIT: Now that I've gone back and read a couple pages, I'm starting to think maybe Morgan Hypers and Wild One aren't as underrated as we may believe because there seems to be somewhat of a consesus that they are underrated.

  8. As hated as this park is I will admit I am glad to have something as my home park. I would hate to be one of the people that have no parks by them. I know Hershey is kinda close but with gas prices the way they are and the government taking more taxes I am gonna love my little 45-50 min ride to SFA.

IKR!!!, I was just thinking that the other day. It must really suck to live in Nebraska . We are lucky to have a big amusement park near us. KD is a two-hour drive from me, and I can only make it a few times a year. I can go to SFA almost every week.

    IKR x2!

I go to SFA about twice a month during the summer. Even after all my visits, I still find their coaster line up to be decent. Though since I go so much, it usually turns into trying to marathon Superman and Wild One (until one or the other breaks down, haha).

And I've always thought that those of us who live in the Washington-Baltimore area are lucky to be in such a convenient location. We have BGW, King's Dominions, SFA, Hersheypark, Knoebels, Dorney Park, and SFGAd all within 3.5 hr drives (if you drive fast enough and manage not to hit much I-95 traffic). Hey y'all, if you're in the market for a new home, Maryland is a GREAT place to live!

    shameless MD plug>

  9. I'm surprised by the Ravens winning (my team, let's gooooooo!), and I'm also surprised that both of these divisional games tonight are going the same way: a shoot-out between each team, going score for score, keep driving it back to a level playing field. We'll see which way the 2nd half goes for GB and SF.

  10. I guess you can say my "wheeee!" is almost like a human accelerometer!

My roommate at college know I'm watching TPR videos when they hear the "wheee." The best part is he thinks Robb's commentary hilarious and will usually end up watching the video with me. Like others have said, the audio and commentary are what set TPR videos apart from the rest. Not everyone will like it, but that's okay. Robb made a very poignant comment about making the videos for himself first. If he doesn't enjoy it, what's the point? It is HIS content, after all. But since he does, we have a crap ton of coaster videos available to us.

While we're on the topic of commentary, here's one of my favorites:
