  1. ^I'd say it's just the brand of social justice warrior the communication age spawned that's triggered by anything and everything. Apparently you can't even joke about the name of Massachusetts without pissing someone off.
  2. ^I think they confused inverting with inverted. Slightly off with the semantics.
  3. You may want to try altering the design on your entry plaza to allow for more freedom of motion. This should include allowing guests to leave, as sometimes the No Entry signs can act funky and lock your peeps in certain areas. Other times, the way path tiles are placed can prevent peeps from wanting to go to certain areas. Just play around with some entrance designs to see what works and what doesn't. This clearly doesn't, so try something else.
  4. Of the ones I take the time to see, IllumiNations, most definitely. I don't normally watch the shows, namely because I'm exploiting the shorter lines resulting from them.
  5. ^Beat me to it. As far as Cedar Point is concerned, there's definitely still some room to work with, but it may take some careful and creative planning to maximize their space. Gröna Lund is an extreme example of piling rides, but illustrates the point that you can twist track to fit just about anywhere, as long as you know how to do it.
  6. Just out of curiosity, how does this compare to the old school Miler mice (Treetop Racers, Wild Chipmunk, et al)? I rather enjoyed the older ones, and all the reviews of this one seem quite poor. Did Miler just completely screw up trying to update their design?
  7. Fantastical and Legendary Granter of Custom Titles and [important sounding buzzwords here]... Long time poster with some ups and downs in reputation...and I believe my current title to be a relic from my "dark ages" of arguably poor posting and etiquette choices (a deserving title for such a state). Having improved relations and standing on this site and providing some somewhat meaningful content now, I feel my title ought to be more reflective of my current state of affairs. As for an update of this title, I am split on a few ideas: "Come to the Dark Side. We have [insert object here]." "Remove tag before flight" "*Ping* Kuchana kuchana..." "Still unable to find the brakes" "Still getting used to my programming" Open to anything else related as long as it's somewhat neutral.
  8. ^It may just be some of the first tests basically breaking in all the trains and seeing if the individual components of the ride are in working condition. These runs are generally slower than the final speed of the ride as the wheels haven't really been on the track at all; once the coaster is further along in testing, I think we'll see the speed pick up a little. To give comparison, here's the first test POV for Freedom Flyer as provided by Fun Spot. It features all the same disclaimers stating the ride runs slower during the first few tests: Compared to it running in 2014:
  9. ^OTS is an acronym for "over the shoulder", referring to restraints that come down over the head as opposed to a lap bar. OTSRs are generally found on looping coasters, though some loopers have shifted to lap bars. All of Magic Mountain's looping coasters except YOLOCoaster and Colossus feature these restraints; X2 uses a modified style that hinges from the side and adjusts for height.
  10. Alien Encounter > Stitch's Great Escape My main problem with it is that Stitch tried to recycle a show system that was deliberately designed to be scary, and make it into a kid-friendly experience. Just by how the show works, it will scare the crap out of kids regardless of how it's themed.
  11. ^What he said. Cameras, regardless of the security of their mount, are still subject to park policy and may not allow recording. As mentioned, Six Flags and Cedar Fair don't allow cameras on their rides without prior approval (usually only granted to media). If you're unsure whether or not a park you plan on recording at allows you to do so, check the policies on the park's website before you go or get in communication with someone knowledgeable on such policy (usually someone in a position of some degree of management). Don't break park policy to get video; smuggled footage looks like crap, and you'll only piss off the park and respective communities. TPR has close relations to many parks and operating companies because members abide by the parks' rules (this is why we tend to get invited to media previews and special park events as opposed to some other certain communities that shall not be named). Robb and the rest of the staff do not want those relationships jeopardized.
  12. -S&S Screamin' Squirrel -Opened in 2005 -Built within the layout of Magic Mountain Next: Tower of Terror (Gold Reef City)
  13. Have you tried a clean reinstall? Steam will sometimes screw up some files on download if connection issues are present.
  14. These were all over the place in Hawaii...ridiculous and obnoxious. With how bothersome they were in a relatively casual setting, I can see why these would be a recipe for disaster in a park. They extend out awkwardly and could easily breach the reach envelope of many rides, and they're hardly secure. I'm all for keeping these out of these situations.
  15. This is crazy. Imagine if this accident had happened on one of the cruise ships! Here is Kristen on the Sky Rail at IAAPA: Especially considering some of these installations have some pretty perilous moments:
  16. Your scenery files are generally loaded as part of the 60% area. Do you have any custom scenery installed, or did any of the stock scenery get corrupted?
  17. ^As said earlier: Simply, the heavy trains from the X era were crap, and made the rides using them run like crap. From my experience with the original X, it was also pretty much "Rolling Downhill in a Trashcan: the Ride" with the old trains. Thankfully Magic Mountain sobered up and updated X's trains, and it did help make the ride more enjoyable (still pretty brutal, but nowhere near as bad as it used to be). Dinoconda opened with the second gen trains and didn't seem to suffer the same issues X did. Eejanaika is the only one of the three still sporting the old trains, and its god-awful ride experience reflects that.
  18. I'm interested in what went wrong as well. Also curious as to whether this incident will affect any other installations' operations.
  19. Doesn't look too shabby, but I'm more interested in that Mo's Burger sign.
  20. The crossguard lightsaber discussion got old fast...
  21. Looks intriguing...I decided to look at their website to see if it had more info, and I found this: Looks like the slide would use this "raft" in a similar manner to those back pads Aqualoops sometimes use, albeit beefed up. This would fall in line with the "no skin contact with fiberglass" and "Burn Free Guarantee" claimed by the manufacturer, as well as the need for an "integrated conveyor system".
