  1. My guess is metal fatigue. Notice how there is no bending or twisting at the break point? It looks like the metal simply cracked and sheared off. If it had hit something I think you would see much more damage at the break point because the metal didn't WANT to come apart.

They're supposed to do non-destructive testing to check for metal fatigue. I'm mostly curious how that testing went or if it even happened.

  2. Hey all! Dan here from CoasterDynamix.

Things have been a little quiet on the coaster model front, but we've been working on a new concept that I think has turned out really great! We want your feedback.

Here are a couple pictures of a stainless steel racing coaster concept. Ideal price would be in the $30 range and come as an (easy to build) kit.

Let us know what you think!

  3. After 3 years of development, Adam Reed Tucker (The creator of the Lego Architecture Series) and the engineers at CoasterDynamix are excited to announce a new way to create roller coasters that will blow your mind! The X-Labs Roller Coaster Factory finally allows you to build hyper-realistic roller coaster models with your current Lego bricks! We have designed brand new coaster trains and a whole new track style that makes a Lego roller coaster a reality. Simply add the Roller Coaster Factory track and train to a Lego support structure and let your imagination flow.

This amazing set will debut as a limited edition (Only 1000 sets will be made) collector’s item and will be available in the next week via the CoasterDynamix website.

I will post more about the project as the week progresses!

  4. Hey all!

We've begun work on our next O-Scale model. It'll be the same price and style as our Tumble Bug model. We've decided to do the classic Euclid Beach Rocket Ride! The cars will come Chromed just like the real ones. We plan to release it this summer, but I thought I would give you all some cool design shows and keep you updated on our progress.

    Here's the current state:

For those unfamiliar with the rocket ride, here is a good picture: Euclid Beach Rockets
