  1. I did some custom parks in RCT 1 and 2, and I never seemed to encounter my frustration with buildings and scenery like I have in RCT 3. Maybe I'm just losing focus, but the hardest thing for me seems to be themeing and building design. My frustration with the RCT 3 engine has caused many of my parks to just sit there dead. Speaking of which, if anyone is interested in collaborating to make a park, I'll gladly design rides and attractions (I'm a pretty good coaster designer in the game) and do a little bit of landscaping/themeing. Maybe the project would last longer if we had more than just one person working on it?
  2. I would think this would pretty easily be on the side of Six Flags this time around. From my perspective it seems like just moving from one rental property to another, you bring your own furniture. If Six Flags bought the rides and paid to have them installed (probably paying state tax fees anyways) there is no reason I can see that they wouldn't be entitled to removing the rides and/or relocating them to other parks. The only thing I can think of is that the land owned by Kentucky might have had a clause in their lease that would claim ownership of anything built on the property, but not only would that be stupid of Six Flags, but also extremely naive on their lawyers part... This is besides the question of what they would do with all the themeing...would a new operator not have to buy a license to all of the different IPs?
  3. I love the new forums Rob! My only comment would be the "Online" banner that comes across the one corner is kind of distracting. If there was a way to change that into just a small "light" (I guess is the best word) that was either on or off indicating if the member was online, I think that would be a small improvement. Overall, fantastic upgrade!
  4. I think we'd find out (if we don't get a formal announcement) when they start cycling. You'd think the straps would be on, just to make sure nothings gonna fly off
  5. I realize that I don't post much, and most of the time I just lurk (partly because I don't really get involved here at all), but I've been reading here for about 4 years now and I figure I'll throw my input out there. (Yes Mr. Alvey your automated email dragged me in!) 1. What are your initial thoughts? This sounds like a fantastic way of giving great perks to those that are interested, and a great way to keep this fabulous site ad free. 2. Can you think of anything else we could be offering? I'm going to second someone else who said this earlier: A monthly newsletter would be a great addition. It would also put you guys above ACE (in my opinion), if you are interested in doing this I would be more than willing to help out. I love this site, any possible way I can make it better is something I'm extremely interested in doing. 3. Is this something that interests you? Yes. 4. Why would you NOT be interested in this? Can't say there's anything that turns me away. Cheaper than ACE with better benefits. Why not? 5. Any additional feedback you can give us based on the information you see here. See above.
  6. When I had a season pass to the park 4 years ago I personally thought SROS' helix's were extremely uncomfortable. I don't think its all that great to be honest and I think that Dominator is a FAR better ride than SROS. But differing opinions and all that. I just prefer KD over SFA, and BGE over KD.
  7. Best - Maverick's launch and the elements thereafter (RIP Heartline) Worst - Being slammed into Magnum XL-200's safety brakes (OW). Honorable mentions: Good: Lightning Racer's at Hershey Park's dueling ending Millennium Force's "victory turn" as my friends call it Bad: Corkscrew at Cedar Point. Flip, Flip....brake run? Adventure Express at Kings Island...oh lord....I love that lift hill so much though.
  8. Magnum XL-200! Its only the 9th best Steel Coaster in the world! I love my baby
  9. I have worked Maverick this year, in July it did not happen. It does dim slightly when the trains launch, however the monitors do not reset and you can clearly see the train moving.
  10. If you can manage to knock out Maverick and Millennium during early entry I'd go ahead and hit Dragster right afterwards, the line should be pretty short. After that you can pretty much do the entire park at your leisure (unless its a really crowded day), which makes for a much more fun experience (in my opinion).
  11. Dragster is not early entry. It takes too long to warm up in the mornings.
  12. For killing an evening they do have a small movie theater by Sandusky Mall. As I just said, they obviously have a mall if you're a mall walker, and it has some decent stores. I would also suggest going out to Battery Park and walking around down there, its absolutely gorgeous at night, not to mention the nice views of CP and the Marina. For food, I am a fan of Perkins Pancake House by Meijers, or my personal favorite Berardi's, you can see their website here http://www.sanduskyberardis.com/. Its a small family owned restaurant by the High School football fields, the staff is friendly and the owners are just as kind, not to mention the food is fantastic! Highly recommended. I don't know if there's anything at Breakers, I've never stayed there. As for your rides, if you can try and get Dragster out of the way. That leaves you free to ride most everything else, and the lines won't be too bad early on, so you should be able to get your credits. Go to the front of the park later on in the day. The front of the park tends to be crowded early, and the back later. As for food, it depends on what you want. If you want sit down restaurants there's a few in the park, and a few just outside the park's gates. Famous Daves and TGI Fridays are both outside the park. In the park there is Game Day Grille, Johnny Rockets, and the Midway Market. If you don't want to go to a full service restaurant the fry stand by Wicked Twister near Planet Snoopy I find have probably the best Chili Cheese Fries in the park. I can't help you with Kings Island, I'm not familiar with the area or the park. Hope this was of some assistance.
  13. I think I may have to find a way out there at some point to ride this. I've already got a packed schedule between work, Kings Island, and Holiday World. Hmm...
  14. ^^ Yes, Rebel Yell was running both sides all day. It was extremely hot and sunny so anything that cooled you off had a huge crowd of people. ^ I posted that shot because its been the big rumor going around, someone may or may not find some use out of it. Who knows? Next PTR I hope to have a better camera, that one is about to die as it is and the Zoom was having issues (as you can tell from some of the photos). Maybe then I'll get some clearer pictures of some things.
  15. ^^ I can't say I've ever had any issues with taking pictures in the park, the employees are pretty good about it. Heck they've even posed with my friends before. ^ I didn't know that. My issue with them is the automatic restraints, they press down so freaking hard it hurts! Without further delay, we shall continue the story: Here's a few more pictures from the tower: The rear of the park Rebel Yell! I don't know why I took so many pictures of something I hate. Water park shot. Americana! "New" for 2009. Togo machine of doom. Shockwave... One last picture of the Togo standup. This ride is AWESOME Ricochet! I <3 you. Hurler! Teehee. Grizzly wasn't running today Grizzly station and transfer track. Really boring log flume. It goes up down turn around up down done. Bleh. Another flat ride that I enjoy immensely. Sky Swing and El Dorado. El Dorado is a pretty big hit with the KD crowds. Kings Dominion actually has a surprising amount of foliage. Somewhere in there are antique cars. See! Construction for 2010? It wasn't too busy today. Creeper shot. After that we left the tower to go walk around some more and hit some rides. We rode Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster (because we're just big kids anyways) and had a blast. But then again we're slightly dumb, so it all works out Scooby Doo! Dominator shot from Scooby Doo's line. Another Dominator shot. After Scooby we decided it was hot enough to go find a way to cool off. We walked toward the log flume and rapids but they were about a 2 hour wait. Not happening. So we headed over to Flight of Fear which surprisingly only had a 45 minute wait (in air conditioning!) so we decided to hit that up. Kelly is OH so attractive when shes hot and fussed. Only Guard kids would take their shoes off in line. Anyways, after FoF we went over to Volcano whose line wasn't too bad. About an hour, so we decided we might as well wait and get the credit done. Molestation machine! Dictator shot. Why Kelly, you look so very attractive! Small side story: Every time we come to Kings Dominion we always manage to find a condom of some sort (open, unused, closed, etc). We win the game today! Spinny spin spin FLIP Its gonna getchu! Train shot. Nerd shot. LIM stators are GO! Again, why did I take pictures of this? Its out to get me, its stalking me... After Volcano we moved our way down the midway toward Americana to relax a bit. We rode Rebel Yell (walk on!) and then hit Americana to get our headaches to subside. I got some really nice shots up there and the view is spectacular at the top for its location. Going light on the commentary, I'm sure everyone will appreciate it Kelly! Bright lights 1. James 0. Artsy I thought. One of the few shots with us both in it. After Americana's 30 minute cycle we wanted to hit a few water rides so we went and dropped off the camera at the locker. However, Kelly took this awesome picture of the Eiffel Tower on the way up there. After taking this picture we got ourselves a little wet, then hit up Avalanche and Dominator one last time before heading out of the park. I'll end this trip report with a pretty night shot of the Eiffel Tower and the fountains at the front of the park. Hope you all enjoyed and feel free to insert suggestions, comments, and questions below!
  16. I'm just happy we figured out how to play as a team! We tied the series 3-3, game 7 on Tuesday! GO CAPS!! Today it looked like Kozlov was channeling Ovie, backhander into the net and taking Lundqvist in after it! Plus we've got someone solid in goal now (20 year old rookie > 30 year old vet??) so its going to be a fun game 7 and hopefully rest of the playoffs!
  17. There will be more! I just haven't quite gotten to those yet
  18. Another small note, if you're planning on staying on property at Cedar Point all resort guests get one hour early entry to the park. That would be a huge boost to your ride count.
  19. Hello everyone! My name is James (Yamez on most boards) I'm currently located in Alexandria, Virginia. I grew up in Toldeo, Ohio (I visited Sea World Ohio!) and basically lived at Cedar Point during the summer as my grandparents all live there. Since this is my first PTR on these boards I figured I'd do that bit of introduction before launching into my trip report. Pictures are above the captions. Anyways, on with the show: Cast of Characters: This is me! This is Kelly! This is me with some awesome black chicks who kept us entertained! Kings Dominion is situated a couple miles outside of Richmond (and by a couple I mean about 30 minutes, or 10 if you're Kelly...). Coming from Alexandria this would normally be a 2 hour trip. However because Kelly loves to speed (90mph in the HOV lanes...) we got there in about an hour. **Please note that I do not condone the action of speeding. Speeding is very bad kids, especially when you're approaching intent to kill! Don't speed (or listen to Yamez for that matter, because he's a filthy hypocrite) !*** Some of the traffic that we drove through. Oh is that a Kings Dominion sign?! YES! After several near death experiences we have reached our destination. Oh, look at that pretty little thing right there... Y HALO THAR DOMINATOR! HOW ARE YOU? Our first ride of the day was Flight of Fear because we didn't want to wait in the 30 minute lines that were Dominator and Volcano. Flight of Fear was a WALK ON, plus it had air conditioning! I didn't take any pictures of the inside (because I'm an epic fail!) and I doubt you care about a steel building. Call it a hunch. After that we headed over to the "Backlot Stunt Coaster", which they really need some better people to name this stuff. Anyways, I got some fun and exciting pictures of it, so have a look see! NERD PUMP SHOT OMG! I'm proud of this shot, it took me 3 tries to get it! A bit of the theming and first helix. I thought this shot was fun, this is the drop right after the helix. Since we arrived so late we decided to find some sort of food, we ended up a chick-fil-a paying outrageous prices for some food. Woo. I'm so enthused! Anyways, after that we went up into the Eiffel Tower and I got some nice pictures of the rides and the park. Dominator, its so sexy it hurts! Go go first drop! Trims were off today and the Cobra Roll had AWESOME forces. I enjoy overbanked turns...a lot. Quick batman! To the brake run! Main Street and the fountains therein Scooby Doo! I really do like this coaster, great for the kids. The left side of the park. Kiddie Cars! Avalanche, the molestation coaster! Volcano and its three, count 'em, THREE in-line twists! Plus that half loop thing. Diving down back into the Volcano. Anaconda Some Anaconda and Backlot Stunt goodness. Anaconda diving into the lake. Corkscrewed. Ok, small side note: I HATE FREE FALL RIDES. That is all. Evil... The lesser of two Evils. This thing smashed my manhood last year, I refuse to ride it again. This was a lot of photos, I'll post some more later if people seem interested. I took just under 120 pictures that day so I've got plenty more to share!
  20. Yes, here is what Platinum Passholdes get in 2009: http://ww3.cedarpoint.com/public/admission/season_passes/point_perks.cfm?litemode=no
