  1. Great report! I've been to the park around the arch, but never up in it. I've heard about how small the "pods" are, so it was neat to see them. I'm sorry if I missed it, but how long does it take to get to the top? I'm not entirely sure I could ride for too long in something that small and crowded.

It's too bad about the river cruise being cancelled. The area I where live is also right on the Mississippi a few hours north of St. Louis. Flooding has been terrible this year!

    As always, thanks for sharing!

  2. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3.

American Eagle, Shivering Timbers, American Thunder (I have such a hard time getting my daughter to ride coasters with me, but she loves American Thunder)

    2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018?

    Only 1

    3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite?

I FINALLY got to visit SFGAm on Mother's Day. It was amazing!

    4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)?

Since I only visited my home park, SFGAm, I don't really have one. If I had been, I'd like to think it would have been Steel Vengeance

    5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018?

Lobster. It's running so well these days

    6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018?

I don't normally eat in parks, so I'd have to say a funnel cake sundae from SFGAm

    7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson?

Based simply on what I want to ride, Steel Vengeance

    8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019.

SFGAm, and hopefully Cedar Point. Haven't been since 1997

    9. Best ride themed to a bird?

    10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018?

    Sprocket Rockets

    11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride)

    12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to?

    Maxx Force

    13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind.

    World of Fun

    14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose...

I think I'd go with Mako

    15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme?

I've only been to HITP at SFGAm, and I was quite impressed. I can't wait till the next one!

    16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion?

The Shed, for its cheesiness. lol

    17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently?

    22. Best drop tower under 150 feet?

Only been on 2 drop towers, both over 200 feet

    23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more)

I can't wait to have the chance to ride Maverick

    24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one.

    Log flumes

    25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides?

    26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why?

Michigan's Adventure. Shivering Timbers! Plus, it's been way too long since I've been to Cedar Point, so....

    27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit.

Six Flags Great America. Clearly. lol It's been a theme for my answers. I know people like to knock SFGAm, but I think we have a pretty good collection of coasters and flats, plus we have Goliath. It may be shortish, but packs a punch. I love the stall.

Of the ones I've been on, Goliath

    Raging Bull

    I suppose corn dogs

    40. Post a great on-ride shot of you from 2018. (DO IT!

I'm cheating, here's one from 2017. I'm in the green, riding with my daughter!

  3. I've always wanted to hit SFGAm for Mother's Day, and this year I finally made it happen. It was a great day for me. My 11 year old daughter, Molly, is afraid of heights, so not too keen on coasters unfortunately. With the short Mother's Day lines I'd heard so much about, I was able to get on several big coasters I hadn't been on for a while. I waited less than 10 minutes each for Raging Bull and Goliath. I hadn't been on Goliath since 2016. Having only been on twice before, I kinda forgot how much fun it is, even though it's a tad short. It really makes me want to get to Cedar Point!

Again taking advantage of short lines, I got my first spin on Joker this trip! I thought it was fun, but I don't think I'd spend too much time in line for it. 5 minutes was all I had to wait this time. American Eagle was the longest line of the day for us at 20 minutes. I also grabbed rides on Superman, Batman, Viper and Demon, and Little Dipper with Molly. I'm hoping they'll be done painting Whizzer before we go next time.

My daughter likes the spinning flats, so we did multiple rides on Hometown Fun Machine, Lobster and Fiddler's Fling. HTFM really seems to be feeling it's age. It takes forever to get up to speed these days and it feels like they've shortened the cycle. Lobster on the other hand is running great. I liked Orbit, but I'm so glad they decided relocate and keep Lobster. We ended up leaving around 5:00, due to the 3 hour drive home and having school and work today. Next year I'll take the Monday after off. lol

Here are just a few random pics.

Here's the remains of Pictorium from STT

A couple random shots from above. Hangover looks pretty tall from this view I think.

    Pictorium from the ground

Whizzer support poles on the right were recently painted. We saw them priming this area 2 weeks ago when we were at the park.

I've always enjoyed the area by Whizzer and HTFM

I love Arrow corkscrews, so had to grab these shots.

I was surprised they ended up opening Yankee Clipper and Roaring Rapids.

I do like the colors they picked for Hangover.

Classic "I visited SFGAm" pic. lol

  4. I've been meaning to comment for a while, but time always seems to get away from me. Your reports are fantastic! I've enjoyed every one of them. Thanks for taking the time to put them together.

I'm also glad to hear you enjoyed Great America. It's my home park and I love it most of the time. I've always thought Raging Bull is usually underrated by most. The pre-drop makes the first drop spectacular in the back row, and it's my favorite drop in the park. Your experience on the log flume was quite entertaining.

Again, thanks for sharing your stories!

  5. Quick question. My 10 year old daughter is finally starting to like coasters, especially wooden ones since she says she's not ready to go upside down. We're heading down to the park this weekend and it's been a while since I've been there, so I need a refresher. Which is the best seat on Screamin' Eagle? I'm excited she finally likes airtime! lol
The backseat has good airtime except for at the drop out of the large turn. The airtime there is insane. All the other seats are just ok.

Sitting in the back of the Eagle on a cool evening at dusk is the best ride in the park, I won't be told any different!

Thanks guys, I'll make sure we get a back seat ride.

  6. I'm heading to King's Island for the first time this Thursday. As of now, it's looking like 60% chance of rain. That doesn't really bother me since it may help keep crowds away. What I'm wondering is what their policy is on running the rides and coasters in the rain? I may not get the chance to come back for quite some time, and I'm looking forward to being able to get on a new coaster in its debut season! Thanks in advance.
