  1. I had the pleasure to ride this coaster on media day. All I have to say is WOW. Everything from the drop to the speed to the turnaround to the airtime is nothing short of amazing. B&M has once again shown why they are the best of the best when it comes to steel roller coasters. Fury 325 is definitely my new #1. If you haven't had a chance to ride it you are definitely missing out. Here are some pics I took:

  2. Sorry, I don't follow Carowinds closely...weren't they getting a giant frisbee? Was that just messing with the enthusiasts by writing stuff on the stakes? Cause if it is, I love them and may have to follow them more!

Haha...yep. The Huss GF thing was indeed a joke by Carowinds management during CoasterStock to trick the enthusiasts like myself. They also put in GCI stakes next to Thunder Road for even more fun.

  3. With as much dignity as he could muster, the Old Man gathered up the sad remains of his shattered Major Award. Later that night, alone in the backyard, he buried it next to the garage. Now I could never be sure, but I thought that I heard the sound of "Taps" being played. Gently:

Lawsuits against Freestyle Music Park continue to grind their way through court, but regardless of their outcome, there is little chance the park will ever open again, according to a theme park consultant and area businesses.

The park opened as Hard Rock Park in 2009, but filed for bankruptcy protection after a slow first season. A group of investors bought it out of bankruptcy and reopened it as Freestyle Music Park in 2009. Although park representatives initially said the park would open in 2010, they failed to find new investors and it remained shut for the season.

About 12 lawsuits against Freestyle are pending in Horry County courts, most brought by vendors who provided goods and services to the park but were never paid.

  4. ^^^I totally see your point, but for me personally, I'd rather have a short and awesome ride, then another freaking exactly the same B&M Hyper.

I'd rather have both. I'm glad to see my home park at Carowinds get a B&M hyper and i'm glad to see Kings Dominion get an Intamin giga. Both are getting rave reviews and appear to be EXCELLENT rides. These two new coasters will help both parks become better and more premier. I'm also glad to see Cedar Fair putting this kind of investment into new rides.

  5. I305 is nothing but boring. Everyone that has not ridden cannot understand to intensity. Unexplainable.

About the blacking out. My first ride I rode row 15 and did not black out. It was so incredible. My second ride, I had a three second "greying" moment in the front row, it was nothing serious in my opinion though I believe alot of the GP might complain.

The ride is not rough, those "little" bump-hills, gives some amazing airtime. And the OTSR are very necessary.

O, did I mention the cable lift is scary fast!

    It's boring? I kid.

  6. Oh...I understand that and agree with you. I just find it odd how the TPR crew was able to go across the entire country and ride I-305 but didn't go just a state or two south to ride I-232. They don't like Carowinds. Kidding.

I know Elissa/Wes answered the question, but maybe Carowinds doesn't like Robb. Of course I'm just joking with that comment, also.

Remember Robb is working at KD filming for the park, so KD hired Robb, and Carowinds didn't. TPR is a website, tour operator and video/production company.

Robb and Elissa will be including Carowinds as part of a TPR Tour for the 2nd year in a row, TPR Management doesn't hate Carowinds or B&M. Anyone who believes they hate Carowinds or B&M is SUPER DUMB!

Ahhh...I didn't realize they were hired by the park to do that. Awesome. I wish Carowinds would have hired them also. TPR did great work on this new coaster with their coverage.

  7. ^I'll speculate and say that Carowinds is nothing we haven't seen in recent years with the additions of Behemoth and Diamondback whereas I305 is the first giga coaster built in the last ten years. There was more hype and fanfare for I305 because of it's design and really has nothing to do with B&M versus Intamin.

Oh...I understand that and agree with you. I just find it odd how the TPR crew was able to go across the entire country and ride I-305 but didn't go just a state or two south to ride I-232. They don't like Carowinds. Kidding.

  8. I'm wondering why TPR showed up at the I-305 event and took pics along with videos but didn't for I-232? Am I missing something here? Do they not like B&M or something? Oh and they should have themed both new coasters to the Pink Pony with pink colored track, glittered trains, and Miley Cyrus music playing in the que just to make everybody happy.

  9. Dear Carowinds, Cedar Fair, and the Kinzel Family,

Thank you very much for putting up a live update webcam. On behalf of those who do not have a life, you have given them the ultimate joy and pleasure of watching the construction of your new coaster, as they will witness a new image on their computer monitor every 2-5 seconds. They are now able to see every support be risen, and every 20 foot movement of each bulldozer. Not only that, but the Carowinds thread on ThemeParkReview will be nearly 200 pages in length by Labor Day due to each 1 sentence update from random members, taking little chunks out of Robb and Elissa's bandwidth - larger chunks from those who decide to post screenshots every 37 seconds.

So once again, thank you all, and may you all have a great night!

And what usefulness is your post adding to this thread? It's taking up bandwidth too.

Intimidator 305 has AT LEAST 6 airtime hills/spots (NOT including what very well may be the most ridiculous first drop EVER) and some ridiculous banked turns/S curves. Just for a comparison, it is 700 ft longer than El Toro, 124' taller (124' bigger drop), with a 9 degree STEEPER drop (85 vs 76) at least 23mph FASTER than El Toro (93+ vs 70). Oh, and it still has roughly the same amount of airtime spots (could even have more).

So to recount, Intimidator 305 is TALLER, FASTER, has JUST as much airtime spots (if not more), has a STEEPER drop, and longer layout than El Toro, and it is likely that the OTSR will be minimal and comfortable. So how exactly is that supposed to be unimpressive?

Hell, the fact that it could have the BEST first drop EVER should make it automatically more exciting than anything B&M.

How is it, that we can tear apart individuals who claim a ride that hasn't even been built yet "sucks", but we can praise it for all the air-time we "know" it will have?

Nobody has any idea how awesome/craptacular I305 or Intimidator at Carowinds is going to be. The most we can do is take guesses based on our experiences with similar coasters. And that only takes us so far.

Speaking of which... have you been on any of the new B&M hypers? If you've not been on either Diamondback or Behemoth, I'm quite curious how you can be so down on "anything B&M".

DB > Apollo's Chariot... and it wasn't even close in my opinion. Just because they were both B&M hypers... they were a league apart. New track elements and designs, entirely new trains... made for a very different experience.

To be fair, no, I haven't been on Diamondback or Behemoth yet, but compared to everything I have been on/heard reviews about, Intamin the clear favorite. I have been on Nitro and Apollo's for B&M hypers and as much as I love them, they just don't stand up to the best of Intamin. I'm also not a big fan of "floater" airtime. B&M is all about floater, Intamin is all about ejector.

If you want to base the rides on their counterparts: Intamin holds 7 of the top 12 steel coasters of 08 (hawker), all of which are mega, mega light, or giga coasters. They also have 5 of the top 10 woodies (again, about airtime). That is compared to B&M who have 4 in the top 10 steel, only 2 of which are mega coasters. Oh, and they don't make wood. So, I would say Intamin is CLEARLY the company I would put the most faith in when it comes to the best mega/giga coasters (or anything, for that matter).

Now, that being said, B&M IS a great company that produces great rides and the Carowinds Intimidator surely looks great. To call it better than Intimidator 305, though, is laughable.

If this post I just quoted doesn't scream Intamin fanboy, i'm not sure what does. Nice try though. Not sure how anybody including you can say Intimidator 305 at KD is better than Intimidator at Carowinds when neither ride has been built yet.

  11. well well well, will you look at this everyone complaining about the people discussing the restraints. It turns out they were on to something and you guys didnt need to get all anal about them discussing it. According to screamscape: "I went right to the source and asked John Pagel, KD’s Marketing Manager, to try and clear up the issue for us. According to John, “The restraint system will not be like the ones seen on the animations and on Maverick.” Well there you go, I believe an apology is in order, you know who you are.

I'm sorry. Please forgive me for going off the pictures/videos on the website and thinking those were the restraints that would be used.
