  1. I am uploading my version of Terminator: Salvation The Ride using my RCT3, however it isn't 100% accurate, so there are some minor changes that I had to make to get the train back to the station. I'll have the YouTube link posted soon.

In the video, there will be photos as well I snapped at the end of the ride, so stay tuned for those.

    Version 4.1

I'll watch the YouTube version above in this thread. I haven't watched it yet.

Hyyyper, The layout is about right in the diagram you have. I rode Terminator on Monday, Memorial Day. You can watch that video on my YouTube Channel as well.

Great video. RCT3 doesn't save actual sound from the coaster, so it was great to hear the actual sound from this coaster using No Limits. I don't have that software.

  2. As for Scream, which I rode on Monday, I agree this coaster needs landscaping, water, dirt, bark, trees, fire, fog, tunnels, just something exciting.

After that first drop, loop and tight inverted corkscrew, the track goes into a dip with the pavement, well they can use that as a tunnel, and put some fog and lights in there. I wonder why when they built Scream, they never excavated the parking lot, when they placed those concrete slabs in. It's like if they built this thing in a hurry, and wanted to save money.

I love Scream, and I would hate for SFMM to remove it. It just needs some love and nurturing, with landscaping to make it even more exciting, and fun.

Here are some pictures I took of Scream, and some other randomness.

Any idea what these things are for? They may be refurbishing them froma gift shop or ride, or something new. I saw even an old horse-buggy of some kind back there. Who knows.

    scream_7.jpg.c176df41d2a40655e8df25b5d54544d9.jpg

I wonder what this building is for, perhaps this is where all the business dealings are done. You can see this from the Scream entry-way platform.

    scream_6.jpg.a5f69243cfd3112adfca0e04462a0c8d.jpg

The parking lot was so full, they started sending people far out beyond the property to park, as I saw from the Sky Tower. It was a busy, packed day.

Scream's crazy loops and track towards the end of the ride, great fun stuff. As you can see, something needs to be done with landscaping, even though when riding you never focus on the concrete, but added effects and a tunnel, fog and fire, and things I mentioned above would bring this ride to more awesomeness.

  3. Here's a couple possibilities..

    P1010120golden.jpg.86560d94621946f9addb3629e9c5a196.jpg

They could use the front facade as the loading station for the new ride, and remove the stadium seating and stage, for land for the track, maybe a dark tunnel, or something, and have it fly up and around the area, above the track of Superman: The Escape. A launch coaster Intamin..that would look good in that area, if they can pull it off.

    P1010150111.jpg.749ee7745636ff7787118f07b5fc64b2.jpg

The third possibility, is to build a ride high up and above, Superman: The Escape, where the Golden Bear Theatre is located.

    P101019322.jpg.716686c81bf80f722541116c455702a5.jpg

I am not sure what this is, a storage shed for Roaring Rapids rotting boats, but if they own this land or not, they could develop this land for a future expansion themed area for the park, and widen the entry way to Deja Vu, to give it a more larger openness to get to the new theme area. It may cost some money, but in the long run, the park would be nicer looking with a small expansion.

    P101017611.jpg.283439118308df0d90662b7f84677c8e.jpg

The land behind Terminator. I am not sure if they own the land, but they can buy the land, build a kick-ass coaster, and use the current entry way to Deja Vu, as a main walk-way to the new land, or the third bridge over to the right of Terminator used for vehicle access as a main opening to the new ride. I am sure they can do wonders with that. Having it over by Deja Vu, might be a little hidden.

    P101019riddlerland.jpg.f5218f1138e967ea0c52b06272261c25.jpg

If they remove Tidal Wave, that does leave a big chunk of land to use for something, and use that little bit of land where Freefall used to be, and perhaps use the land behind Riddler's Revenge for something. They also can remove Cyclone 500, and Dive Devil, and build something on those two pieces of land. They have possibilities, so we'll have to see what they have in store for 2010 and 2011. They can build a coaster and develop new park land up on that hill side where over by employee parking, and have a large bridge for park guests to walk too. I mean, a big theme area based on a film or something. They would have to buy the land of course, but not sure if they would go that route.

  4. Here is a couple recent pictures of two pieces of land, where I think they should consider building something.

The first is alot of good land above the first drop of Revolution, and build a coaster high above the trees for the station, the track, and have it wrap around the area, and Roaring Rapids perhaps. The track even coming close to tatsu or the Sky Tower would be awesome.

The second is the old area where Flashback used to be. They need to tear out that old Monorail station, that old Processing Center/Lost & Found area, and use all that land for an exciting new attraction, perhaps a flat ride or two, a kid's ride, the fore mentioned Wiggles World, a new water ride. I am sure plans are being made for that land for 2010 or 2011.

    Tim

    P1010147rev.jpg.fa67075825c1d0b0fa7c44cf7efc40ff.jpg

This land where Flashback used to be is a great spot for a new attraction for a theme area. They should consider removing the old Monorail station, and rusty trams, the processing center/lost & found, and use this entire area for a new attraction. The Lost & Found can be moved elsewhere near Six Flags Plaza.

    P1010184rev.jpg.12554b6dbb0486ec3fc39b46ddfd52fd.jpg

Above the first drop of Revoultion. They can do something with that, and bring that land to life, as they did for Tatsu over Revolution, why not try it again, but this time it goes over Roaring Rapids and Log Jammer.

  5. Terminator Update: Memorial Day

Here is just a couple of pictures I took today.

The video may be awhile, because the converter I downloaded and paid for isn't giving me sound, so I had to call and email support. I am trying to convert Quicktime MOV to WMV or AVI to use in my WIndows Movie Maker, to make a movie of most of my Terminator footage. I got some great shots. I could always make the video and just add music to it, but that takes away the excitement of the thundering sounds of the trains flying over that first overhead turn.

    Enjoy the pictures.

The line was now longer than it was when I got in line, and that was like 11:30 a.m. or so, and this was now around after 1 p.m., and it was getting long.

    P1010081.jpg.2a14d1da9c9a29d8dab543eb906be9a8.jpg

I was standing on the exit platform, taking numerous pictures, and videos, and here's just one of alot of track!

Another train returns safely, escaping the terminators. I was next! Hell yeah!

The train begins to depart. Inside the Terminator station, yes! I was excited! Just moments away from getting on board!

The queue crowd, it actually went by quick, not too bad to complain about. I got there before it really got crowded. You can see that in the last image.

  6. I just got back from Six Flags about 35 minutes ago, been there all day, and rode Terminator! I must say, this coaster rocks! I Loved it! I would of gone on it a second time, but the line was longer when I exited.

I will have a more thorough review, pictures, and video tonight or tomorrow. I have to splice together a Terminator video, because I video taped other coasters I rode, and even visited the Sky Tower. I must of took over 200+ pictures, and numerous videos, so I have to work on this all night from my digital camera.

I will have that Terminator video soon, and today being Memorial Day, the line for me was about 1 hr. 45 min. It moved along at a quick pace, not too bad. Just an awesome ride experience, so much fun.

    Later

  7. If you haven't heard, SFMM already had that ride Mountain Express back in the 70's in the Flashback area, perhaps you were making a joke there.

If they do build a ride such as Pilgrim's Plunge or other water attraction in that area in 2010 or 2011, and bill it as for both Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor, Tidal Wave would be torn out, and a new attraction would be built there in 2012 or 2013.

    Tim

  8. Well, it would have to be a water ride of some sort, to be for both Hurricane Harbor, and Magic Mountain, and I have the perfect suggestion.

A ride like Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World, as long as it doesn't have a patent on it. What do you think? This ride looks like alot of fun, and I love the train lift.

    Tim

    pilgrimplunge.jpg.7f716ca3ff8319b41b016b656954e78c.jpg

A ride such as Pilgrim's Plunge at Holiday World, would be a nice addition to Six Flags Magic Mountain for a 2010 or 2011 attraction for the space by Hurricane Harbor, where Flashback used to be, and the old Monorail station still sits.

  9. I was wondering what the park has planned for 2010 or 2011, as far as a new attraction for Magic Mountain or Hurricane Harbor, so my suggestion would be where the old Flashback once stood, and surrounding area in the photo below.

We know Flashback is gone, so that space is just sitting empty, and hopefully it will be used for a new, exciting attraction for both kids and adults.

I also noticed that on my last trip to Six Flags (5/18/09), that the old Monorail tracks are still in the park. I thought that was torn out a long time ago. That track isn't going to ever be used again, so they might as well remove it, and the stations.

    Tim

    423488991_2010_2011space.JPG.6c2188ba15fcea5b3f5bb785f80c2f53.JPG

For 2010 or 2011, this space should be used for a future attraction, either for Magic Mountain or Hurricane Harbor. What do you think?

  10. This coaster looks like alot of fun, great detail, loving the fire, the superman logo tunnel. I actually have never been on a Intamin coaster before, not even Xcelerator at Knotts Berry Farm in Ca. When I did go, the line was too long, and haven't been back. I think Six Flags Magic Mountain in Ca, should build a Intamin coaster as this, looks awesome. Is Superman: The Escape at Magic Mountain by Intamin? I have been on that many times, but doesn't go as high as it once did, when it first opened.

I take it Bizzaro is the evil version of Superman, and he's taking over the world? I don't read superhero comics, so I wouldn't know the character, but this ride looks really good.

  11. Yes, 14 roller coasters, AND don't forget those two coasters in the two "kid themed areas", Percy's Railway and Canyon Blaster making it 16.

Yes, that makes 16, however those are kid coasters, but if they want to bill those with the others, that makes 16, but I count it as 14, because in my book, those don't count.

Anyways, back to the topic of Terminator...I will probably go Monday and take pictures of the queue line, and even ride it. The park shouldn't be too crowded Monday, but could be wrong.

    Tim

  12. For those of you who haven't seen the Good Day L.A. Today report with Tony McEwing, interviewing Michael Papajohn, here is my YouTube recording of it.

The quality and sound isn't the best since I recorded it using my digital camera, but it's an okay recording.

And Robb, great Media Day report, great photos, and I love that Media Day badge that you guys at TPR have, that is awesome. This looks like a great coaster, and I hope they keep the props, that big truck out front for awhile, so everybody can enjoy them for photo ops, and detail attention to the ride.

Any idea how long the Soldiers will be out front promoting the Terminator coaster, and joining the resistance to the park guests? The pre-shows look awesome, and will they always allow photography to be taken inside these pre-shows, or was today a one-time deal?

    Tim

  13. ABC 7 just did a Live Report with Garth Kemp talking inside the station, and showed footage of him riding it, and alot of aerial views. This aired at 4:53 p.m. or so. Garth Kemp may do a second report in the 5 p.m. news cast, so watch the news on ABC 7.

I am actually uploading video of the Fox News Good day LA Today report to YouTube, that aired at 12:30 p.m., using my digital camera. I am sure somebody has already posted a better video of it, and I haven't checked previous posts yet to see if anybody has.

Once it's done, I'll post a link to it. I don't have DSL, so this upload is taking a long time.

This ride looks really good, promising, and just awesome. I can't wait to ride this thing myself.

  14. It would be ideal to take the O. Express but on at least one of my runs to X2 this year, I've noticed that O. Express hadn't opened up yet.

I rode the Orient Express on Monday when I went, so it's working now. How about a group of 10-12 people make a chain by holding hands walking to the Terminator up on the pathway, so nobody will pass you up. End to End.

Would that work, you'll have to walk fast, and be careful not to bump into anything. Just a suggestion.

  15. If you get lucky enough to get as far as the second shaded queue line, as below, you'll have a sure bet you will ride, and be very excited, well even if you are as far as the first queue line shaded area, you'll be waiting a lot less than the people standing pass the bridge.

    Tim

    queue.JPG.bbefc5507e77b96c9925f891c9dcda15.JPG

The second shaded queue line area. I am sure they may have like misters, and even tv monitors playing music and video, such as they have during the queue line in X2.

  16. Before they let the crowd in the park, will they make an announcment that there will be no running allowed?

I would think the fastest way to Terminator would be to take the Orient Express up to the top of the hill, walk down that steep grade around the corner, and you'll be there...I would think walking around where Viper is, passing Roaring Rapids may be a longer walk.

I haven't decided if I'll be there Saturday, if I do end up going, I'll come in the afternoon, not to ride Terminator, just to take pictures of the crowd and the coaster from the exit and flash pass pathway.

It's going to be a crazy day, and crowded day, considering it is the weekend.

  17. In this picture that I had taken, which I found after going through all my pictures, that the tunnel in question, as you can see is fully enclosed by wood, and the inside probably has the sheet-metal.

Edit: Actually, it's the angle of the picture giving the illusion that the tunnel is fully enclosed, when it isn't in this picture.

    P1010057.JPG.77048b908f78ec297e320c5ebbc6df1b.JPG

Those two guys on that crane lift, must be doing something with the tunnel on that end, or like I said in my previous post, they may be removing that excess wood that is sticking out.

  18. Awesome! Thanks for posting the pictures. Some of them were showing up as red X's so I uploaded them to the server. Hope that was ok.

    --Robb

Yes, that is fine. I do have others, but nothing interesting that hasn't already been posted.

Yes, this new coaster looks awesome in person, and it sure brightens up this area of the park, I can't wait to ride it. I don't think I'll be there Saturday, it will be far too crowded. I may go on a weekday sometime in June. I can't wait to see how long the line extends out on Saturday, and hopefully the Sky Tower is open, to get that birds-eye view.
