Two New Rides at Castle Park in 2008
rba13 replied to biosciking's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
The antique car ride looks awfully familiar. Did they take the old cars and track from Knott's Berry Farm? thanks -
It's hard for some of the older crowd and even the younger ones to get to the summit. Going up and down the funicular is all right, but that's only good for one side of the hill. If you are going up the Gold Rush side and it's a hot day be prepare to sweat your butt off. Getting people up to that area, might solve some of the problems. It might be worthwhile to put in a monorail that would loop the mountain and have a stop next to the restaurant. Moving people around faster leaves more time for them to spend money on their trip. Seriously, a dark family ride on Samurai Summit would liven things up a bit. Or maybe a Drop Ride positioned on the edge of the hill. Of course they would have to do wind testing before hand so the ride isn't closed half the time due to high winds.

Seems like all my ideas have been done before, but this one seems like a winner. How about a walk though maze with a Magical Japanese theme. You walk through a series of rooms that have clever video projections finally ending in a disco like room that is pitch dark and all of a sudden the lights come on and off making it seem like everyone is moving crazy freaking everyone out. Call it the Magic Buddha.

I wish, Six Flags would just drop the Six Flags and just advertise it as Magic Mountain. Six Flags is just to generic and "Magic Mountain" by itself makes it sound unique and special. I also would like them to bring back the trolls. Or maybe they could have a 70's week where they turn back the clock and encourage patrons to wear 70's clothes. Maybe bring in 70's sitcom stars and blast 70's music around the park. Maybe re-unite the Brady Bunch in a musical production. Groovy. Or maybe a theme area, just for the groovy 70's and make the central part of the theme area a retro's 70's era Wonder Woman theme roller coaster.

CBS is going to have a CSI interactive show. What if CBS also sponsored the Orient Express and turn it into a Scandinavian theme ride based on the "Price is Right" As the re theme Orient Express ascends the Mountain yodeling is played and flags pop up as in the TV show. Of course you couldn't have the ride go over a cliff. Originally the Orient Express was I think called the Funicular. It would add some branding that Americans of all ages can identify with. Maybe the Price is Right could tape a week's worth of shows there. This would also be a cross promotion on CBS television to advertise the new CSI interactive show. Far fetched, but I have ideas.

There is a tunnel for the Metro, but it's to one side of the Mountain between Superman Escape and Ninja next to that Restaurant. I don't think it's usable for a shortcut to walk through. I do remember getting off the Metro. They would announce, "Stay clear of the opening doors. And enjoy your stay at Magic Mountain" I always got a kick out of that for whatever reason.
