  1. ^Well the two B&M's they have now uber-suck, and I don't know whether CP had them build Raptor and Mantis to specific guidelines, or B&M just gve them crappy rides, but if any future B&M that CP gets rides like the two they have now, no bueno.
  2. ^Related story... At my job, a couple walk in and ordered some beers, and they looked fairly young, so I carded them. They were from Washington (Seattle to be exact). So when people from out-of state visit here, I always like to ask what brings them here (my job would be boring without small talk, and the tips would be crappy) and they said "Oh we normally come down for Disneyland for the kids, but this time we want to try Magic Mountain and Knott's." Since I'm in to theme parks I start giving them a little information. Come to find out they've never been to Knott's, so I tell them out of the two I'd go to Knott's on a weekend as it tends to be less crowded as the larger MM. Then they said something I had to flinch at (I was patient since they were from out-of-town, "Yea, we haven't been to Magic Mountain since they tore down the X and put up X2". So I told them, "It's still the same ride, but with new trains for audio and they repainted it." I mean I don't whether to hug Six Flags' PR department for doing such a great job of convincing people this is a new ride or slap them for lying. In either case, I made 15 bucks off of serving two beers, so they ain't that stupid. They leave some pretty smart tips...
  3. ^^Don't blame yourself. The "Knott's vs. Magic Mountain" squabble is quite the recuuring problem here, so it's nothing you said. I just wanted to make sure your opinion was unbiased going in so you would not miss out on a decent park. And from what I hear, Xcelerator is reduced to one train right now (red train) due to mechanical issues. From what I've noticed as a former operater of the ride it tends to run into less problems with one train operation, and since the load time of 65-70 seconds (IF the crew is good) for a 22 second ride, one train operation isn't noticably worse than with two trains.
  4. ^I beg to differ. What exactly is it you all feel would make Knott's a better park than the "fail" you all think it is? What is so depressing and unfufilling about a park that has a bitchin' launch coaster, "decent" invert, fun shuttle looper, cool drop tower, and interesting atmosphere? In proportion to MM, it even has a better assortment of flats, a better kids area, and more "intermediate" rides that entire families can do together. Now let me make this clear, as I don't want to seem like a fanboy (For the record, I don't even really care for the park) but to those here who ask about the park here that may visit for the very first time, it's not a bad place to spend a few hours. It's a clean park, the rides are ran efficiently, and there's more to do than just coasters. Since when does that make a a park a "fail"? Is it as great as it once was? Well that depends on who you ask. Some say it lost its charm and glory, Others say its propelling itself to new heights. In either case, it's a fun place to chill, and for some reason it gets a bad rep In other words, Give credit where its due.
  5. ^I don't see why not. They need a full circuit launch coaster, and they seemed to be obssessed with SFX. It's possible, but not likely for a few years.
  6. ^If you were in a room with a \n air temp. of 60 degrees would you notice a rise to 61? Same thing with angles.
  7. ^Me and my friends were the ony one's in the theater that got the first Hitler Joke
  8. ^All the more reason it's gonna suck...
  9. ^I've worked at two parks in rides around the time of new rides opening, and in most cases (9.9/10) Lower level employees wouldn't know much more than we would before a press release. It's not like the park president walks around and tells every hourly employee, "Hey tiger, spread the word. We're building an Intamin".
  10. ^You jinxed it...now all Corowinds gets is a funky S&S drop tower...
  11. ^It doesn't really matter what time you get to Knott's. It's very rare you'll get lines that are unbearable there, if you don't care where you sit on Xcel, you can get on in about 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes. Silver Bullets runs pretty efficient, and GhostRider...Well, it's there. If going in August, you should be fine from say 4-10. Thats more than enough time to knock out the 9 coasters they have and maybe supreme scream and the log.mine rides if its not too busy.
  12. How is everyone disapointed with a layout no one's seen yet?
  13. How do you figure? To my knowledge, they're the same ride design by two different MANUFACTURERS. So a comparison bwtween the two is just. With that said, I have been one one of each. Millienium Force: Tall, Fast, and nothing else Nitro: Airtime, airtime, and more airtime. Seeing as how that's what it was designed to simulate, I'd give it a big fat MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.
  14. ^I've been on both, and they're both pretty dsapointing. It's just that Scream! doesn't have a two hour wait this season...
  15. That's was $20 you would have otherwise not spent if you weren't at the park. The average paerson does not pay full price each four times (hypothetically) a year, so to get someone to pay as much or more once in the season than a full day's admission, only to have them residually bring in money ends up being a great investment. Think of it this way...You spending $60 on a play pass and going 20 times a year (assuming you spend $20 every visit) made the park $460. By comparison, a guest who visits once a year and uses coupons from Taco Bell that cuts admission to two for $54, (also assuming the couple spends $20 a piece) made the park $94. So assuming you are always going to have day guests, and one time admission, you can see why season pass holders are valuable in a certain sense, and why they (SP holders) aren't "raping" the company for money in a sense.
  16. ^Hey, get as much value out of that season pass as you can. I do.
  17. I can't say. My sources were not from the park, so I don't know for sure, but what I did hear made sense and it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.
  18. I know it's not a drop per se, but the tunnel on Psyclone. Sitting in the station was the smoothest part of the ride. The tunnel before the lift was the only BARABLE part of the ride.
  19. By Far...Superman:Krypton Coaster. No other floorless coaster holds a candle next to this ride. I'm even almost inclined to say that it's one of the best rides overall that B&M has built. Dominator was close, but no 0G roll made it loose A LOT of points.
  20. X's Lift gives you the best view of the park, seeing how it faces the park from the edge of it, and realy puts into perspective how much airspace the park has to work with. I've been to CP about four times and the one difference between the layout between CP and MM (besides the obvious mountainous terrain) is that MM has just as many coasters, but very rarely do any of them 'interfere' with one another. I mean, Batman and Riddler's are right next to each other, but when you're on each respective ride, you are immeresed in that ride. There is little obstruction on say, Tatsu, even though the close proximity to Ninja, Revolution, Jet Stream and even Orient Express. Heck, Even with Terminator being mere yards away from Deja Vu, you wouldn't know it was there after the lift, and the same could be said of Terminator while riding Deja Vu. This is the one thing I like about the park's layout. It's full of coasters, but it's not "crowded" with them, if that makes sense. I think that whatever coaster is next in line to be installed should use a lot of the airspace in the center of the park, as most of the coasters tend to sit along the outer rim of the park.
  21. ^^CP could've said the same thing about Millienium Force. (and IMO they should've) I'm not going to rule out MM as a contender, but I have reason to believe MM will get a revamp on an existing ride in 2010 rather than a new coaster, so it's a low possibility. I like the idea of Carowinds getting a stellar coaster of this scale. If this park needs something, it's a new and unique coaster.
  22. Funny how he automatically threw out "I may have gained weight since last year" as an explination. Blame the train.
  23. ^The same could be said about inverts, which is why I think no park should have both.
  24. What type of records are there to "shatter" with an invert? I say floorless. Ypu can build them on a larger scale, and feel more "open" than an invert.
