B&M and 240 feet...
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to itsasamccormick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Vry interesting you mention that. I remember hearing that the reason Intamin went with a cable lift on Millienium Force and Morgan went with two separate lifts on Steel Dragon is that a chain for a 300' coaster (which would have to be at least 600' for the return). A 600' chain strong enough to hoist a 9 ton vehicle 300' in the air would be very heavy. Since B&M probably wouldn't split blocks in a dual lift, or use some type of cable lift, it would be difficut to have one chain that long without having lift issues. I think we've found a feasible answer. -

^To be honest, outside the preshow, there really isn't any theming on Terminator. The three pre shows are great, and more than exceeded my expectations, but the queue up until the first building is nothing but swtichbacks. The first time SFI tried a dueling launched coaster, it didn't pan out so well, so I can understand why they'd want to avoid the idea for a few more years, though I would like to see a full circui launch coaster. Thats one thing the park seems to be lacking in its coater lineup. And if said coaster was packed with airtime, it'd be killing two birds with one stone.

Most Overrated coaster?
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well let me be the first to discredit what little hype it does get by saying its lame. "It's lame". -
It's an Intamin, so its warranted...

Most Overrated coaster?
Bolliger&Mabillard replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed hardily. I understand your viewpoint in the ride, but I think the dueling is supposed to compensate what the ride lacks This is where we have to disagree. Talon is right behind the Batman clones on my list of most intense inverts. Tight forceful transitions make me feel like Knott's got cheated with Silver Bullet, which has a forceful helix, and not much else. Hardily agree Not previously mentioned: Goliath-Six Flags Magic Mountain: Fun for what it is, but was built to hold a record for 5 weeks. And that 5 week tallest coaster title would cost the park any chance at getting any serious steel airtime behemoth. Other than an insane helix, the ride has one, count it ONE ejector airtime hill. Give it one cool airtime hill and one cool helix, there's just too much track left over that does nothing. The drop isn't at a breathtaking angle (61 degree drop? Hypercoasters that proceeded it are getting standard 80) Thhe hairpin turns create little thrill, but no air, and after the two above mentioned elements, its 4800' that leaves most guests thinking, "That was okay", and most enthusiasts saying "Raging Bull could have fit in this same spot"... -

I voted (for myself of course) Amazing collection of photos though. They all blow my picture out of the water. -

^^I appriciate the support, but we're all adul...well at least matur...well we all like coasters, so I'm sure there's no bad blood between anyone. Thanks though ^I'm sorry if my posts tend to have an arrogant tone. I don't type them that way, but I guess I can see why they could be read that way. I still feel the same way about the IC/FC thing, but was out of line with wad I said that proceeded that post. We all love coasters here, and there's no need to bash each other. That what we have the GP for -

At any rate, It'd be cool if VF got a ride like Talon. I found it to be quite intense, but not unbearably intense. I haven't been on Patriot, so i'd just have to take your word for it. -

^Meh. That I can respect. If you dont agree with someones opinion, it's no biggie. No two of us are alike. But to say something like "Ignore his comment. This is the same guy that says inverts and floorless coasters offer the same experience" just because you may not argee with it. It's almost as obscure as saying something like "I only listen to or pay attention to people who think the way I do" -

I'm sorry if I feel that "flying chairs" whether they hang from or sit on their chassis are the same thing. But I can think of at least 5 Inverts that are better than forceless, long, and boring Raptor. *All the Batman Clones *Talon *Great Bear *Alpengheist *Montu *Afterburn *Even Silver Bullet is a notch above one of the most boring Inverts built.
