  1. ^OT: I love when people are surprised when their cards are maxed out or declined.
  2. ^I read this post about three times, and I can't come up with a solid counter. I agree with you in the sene that Knott's is the closest to the tourist magnet, so it would reap the splendor of over THE MOST, but It still has ben a few years since Knott's added anything that will knock spurs off folks' boots, and their about due for something big. (I'm hoping for a hyper)
  3. "90% of them who visit Disney on their trip also visit Knotts one day, SFMM one day and SeaWorld one day" Good point, but if this claim is true, then the spillover attendance Knott's gets from Disneyland would be irrelevant, as all local parks would have the same edge. That being said, Knott's would have to compete with at the very least, other local parks, (SFMM and SW, and maybe even USH)
  4. Hey, Even lil' kids can't resist the cold, refreshing, robust taste of a beer.
  5. ^Perhaps the first person to patent the "gum can" will make millions...
  6. I'd like to see a solid transition to a separate ticketed event. This year for example, charge $10 for the wristband, with an additional maze and mayve a show in the MM theater, and increase the quality. Also, there are plenty of dark spots along the path from Rev to Tatsu and atop Sammurai Summit that would be perfect for "scare zones". I don't think there was too much of that last year-or any year for that matter. I think that as you increase the quality of event (little by little) and increase the price of this wristband 5 bucks per year, in 6 or so years, I think Fright Fest would be worth paying another $40 or $45. It would give people enough time to embrace the extra charge, and at the same time the content within the park would have increased to justify the higher upcharge.
  7. Meh, I'm pretty sure they're just going to name it Lightninghawk.
  8. ^If Six Flags is getting a kickback for advertising the show, why not? I mean, Brain Rush billboards? The Wall-E trash cans from last year? Nothing surprises me at this point.
  9. I wonder if any future attractions will have anything to do with Playhouse being removed? I mean there is enough room in Snoopy for a nice rollerskater, but in terms of something big, I don't know. It might be years before we see another large edition to the park. I mean, Silver Bullet barely fits in there as is.
  10. I personally don't think it's the wages, though that is an issue. There are plenty of people who give 100% at a job with low pay, because I was raised on and live by the philosophy that "low pay is better than no pay". I think where the main issue is that the hiring process isn't as rigorous as it should be. Let's say (hypothetically of course) you hire four people that will later become undisirable employees, and for the sake of the example they all end up at the same ride (to compliment Papas' findings, let's say it Deja Vu) and they all end up doing a terrible job while there. Management can fire them all for doing a bad job, and not displaying the Six Flags mantra. However, as just displayed, that crew in one day created an image that people see as "these are the people Six Flags hires?" To add to that, those of us who know what the red tags mean, then the image is "these are the people Six Flags promotes?" I personally think that (not just in this case, but as a general rule) that a job as essential as ride operations is in the amusement industry that the job should at least require you to be 21. Chances are, at that age you are a little more responsible and have probably had more time to get a taste of working, and know the ins-and-outs of being an "employee". I also think that Six Flags could do a better job of training and teaching their employees that they are the "face" of the company. Jay Thomas and Tim Burkhart have done phenomenal job at bringing this park from its desolate state circa 2003-04. However, the average person visiting the park can't see all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. All they see is the operators at Deja Vu talking to each other for minutes at a time before they even remember "oh yea, I'm at work! Silly me, OMG". Until they can find a way for every employee to climb on board that they are ambassadors to the company, all the behind-the-scenes work means nothing.
  11. Believe me, the supervisors do a pretty decent job when it comes to dealing with bad seed employees, but the problem is that when you do get rid of these "bad seeds" they're just replaced with new ones. It's just the nature of the business. Six Flags may have this issue more than anybody else, but it's not a problem exclusive to just them.
  12. ^Good example, an I commend you on a great find, but I see that as a rare exception to a greater proven rule. Though niether us us know for sure what's in this rides future, I feel that "operating" won't be in it. I also realize you are not saying that "I know for sure it's going to open back up", but you're not ruling it out as an option either. I can understand and respect that. However, SF in general isn't a company known to "rehab" rides that have stood idle for years. (look at all the rides they have in "storage") Keeping the idea of this ride being rehabbed is a valid opinion. I however think that this ride is on it's deathfooter.
  13. ^No. It wouldn't have sat there that long if it wasn't on it's way out.
  14. I personally don't think the Flashpass is overpriced, for the sole reason that (as previously stated) I could just wait to go to the park in Jauary and ride everything with virtually no wait, and major rides with substantially shorter waits than peak season.
  15. Sierra Twist Circus Wheel Freefall Spinout Flashback That's just one park. Just had to get that off my chest.
  16. I did not cast a vote, because I would consider myself the thin majority that prefers both(i.e. Cedar Point), for a specific reason. I like the name of the coaster on the ride because of the character, and I like the name of the park because it shows a sense of park pride. However, in most cases, the park name on a coaster is for media purposes. Tatsu for example has "SIX FLAGS MAGIC MOUNTAIN" on car 2 of each train, due to the media day camera being afixed to the bottom of car 1. So just for dinnertime conversation, most of the onride pics of Tatsu are all of car 2.
  17. Would have had a lot more airtime...but also would have had a mid-course, killing the pacing.
  18. It really just depends on which day you go. Tuesday could mean a walk-n for all ride (minus X and Terminator) and the two headliners with reasonable waits, verses Friday and or Saturday being a day where even Scream and Viper have a line. Plan accordingly
  19. ^^Everything runs in light rain, Superman closes the minute it becomes uncomfortable, Deja Vu and X may close in heavy rain, and Riddlers, Batman and Scream drop to 1 train.
  20. Texas Giant Psyclone Mean Streak Great American Scream Machine (Jackson) Vortex (Kings Mills) Villain Psyclone (so rough, it gets counted twice)
  21. ^Interesting post. Nothing we didn't know already, but refreshing to see an unbiased opinion from an outsider.
