  1. I agree that 3/4 of this thread makes us look like dicks. Case in point, I have a friend who knows the ins-and-outs of coaster enthusiasm. He works in the industry and follows Ride SOP's like a bible. However I asked him how he felt about the Lakers picking up Ron Artest, to which he replied, "which college is he coming from?"
  2. I work at a place where "maturity" and "responsibility" are talked about as if the company was built upon the ideals, yet they approach every single empoyee as if they were 16. FML and FMJ
  3. I've heard a few rumors about a new attraction, but no one has confirmed its a coaster, whether its family fun or high thrill or what area of the park its going in.
  4. It's going to spawn a whole two pages worth of things to go in the "wierdest things the GP say". Keep your ears open.
  5. You left out Firehawk, Silver Bullet, Patriot, Most of Dragster, one of Xcelerator's trains (was retrofitted with a red coat of paint shortly after opening). Is Dunn-Edwards giving them some kinda discount on red paint or something?
  6. I truly feel thi is the beginning of the end for Son of Bitc-I mean Son of Beast...
  7. ^Not necessarily. Though they're not being "advertised" at the moment, most of MM's coupons expire at the "end" of the season, which is Dec 31st, So check local Taco Bells, which was the last restaraunt to have them that I know of.
  8. ^But you could fit a hyper in if you took out both...
  9. Supreme Scream runs 3 towers quite often, Superman Towere of Power ran (SFoT) runs 3 pretty consistantly, Power Tower at Cedar Point. It also allows for continuous operation when each unit needs to be recabled. Since you can stagger the rehab schedule, the ride technically never has to close.
  10. ^ut when they do, the capacity for them (assuming they're all 16 passenger vehicles) is fairly decent.
  11. ^I'm sorry, I agree with you most of the time, but statements like this: Doesn't agree with this statement:
  12. I would probably say that the best way to sum up Knott's is: Imagine if you will, Disneyland Park being bought out by an outside agency (once again this is hypothetical) and this outside agency had a different agenda than that of DL. Disney has always been about escapism and leaving the real world behind. Going into a fantasy world and creating a truly unique experience. The outside agency just wants to create a "fun atmosphere that is comfortable enough to bring people in and make money. Within 12 years, do you think Disneyland would be the same park, creating the same experience?
  13. ^I thought the song fit the coaster, which is why I picked the tune.
  14. But where is the yellow going? I WANT CLOSURE!
  15. Now that Carowinds has more coasters than SFGAm and the same amount as GAdv, not such a small park anymore...at least not by the numbers anyway
  16. Nitro is one of the better B&M's I've ridden, and if Knott's were too pull of a Nitro-esque coaster, then I might just stop hating the place...
  17. ^^It stinks that you and your friend had trouble, especially with a delicate issue. The current policy in place that deals with disabled persons is flawed, but if anyone remembers the blue cards they used to give out (they got rid of them like two months after I started there as a ride op, so think April 07) and though I think the blue card system worked a lot better than the system now, (go to the ride, get a time to come back, then ride with no problem). However, too many people took advantage of the fact that it's against ADA laws that you can't ask what someone's handicap is, which ultimately meant people who were perfectly fine walking into GR and getting cards and using them as a "fastpass" (in fact I used to run into a few people that called them that, which boiled by blood, because it diluted a program for those less fortunate) However when they changed the policy (to what it is now) I would just tell whoever to wait two trains, then they could sit where they wanted. Just so you know, the current MM guidelines for disabled persons is bluepprinted on the fact that an amusement park is only required to accomidate a wheelchair or other similar devices. That's why when it was first incepted, the pass was not valid for X, Deja Vu, Freefall, Revolution, and any other line with ramps that would have allowed a wheelchair in the standard queue. Rides with elevators (Batman, Scream, Riddles, Goliath, etc) required you wait up until the point of the elevator. At Tatsu, we would just have everyone wait in the "cage" between stations and load them all either:after about a two train wait (on slower days) or when the "cage" was full with groups, which in either case was about every 10 minutes.
  18. ^True, and I agree, but doing better than "crap" doesn't always mean "good".
  19. ^A ball coaster provides about 800 rides per hour, which is right up Knott's alley.
