  1. Between being bored and listening to music, I thought of a game that will be (hopefully) be fun, as well as help everyone here learn a little something about each other, as well as spread publicity to artists you think are good and could use the hype. The game is simple. Starting from the letter "A", name one artists whose name begins with A, and one artists whose name begins with "B", etc until you have 26 artists from A to Z.Name artists you like but for some reason or the other just don't get alot of hype, radio/video play. It'll be fun as to see what people will list, and you may find an artist you like that you would've otherwise never heard. If you want to add a brief description to why you are listing this person, a certain song by them that others should search for, etc, feel free to do so...just keep the brief description "brief". To start things off.... A-Amerie-sexy, smooth voice, smoother body. B-Black Milk-Search for his song "Without You" and it'll explain everything C-Cold War Kids-Nice, raw rock sound D-Dwele-R&B without the oversaturated "sex" vibe. Just smooth soulful R&B E-Erykah Badu-Call Tyrone wasn't enough? F-Floetry-R&B+Spoken word=Awesome G-Grand Puba-older hip-hop, but the classics are a must to pick up H-Hi-Tek-Even if you have to download it, pick up Hi-Teknology Vol.1 I-India.Arie-Her music makes you not only okay, but proud to be different J-J Dilla, Producer of the Roots, the Pharcyde, Slum Village, Dela Soul...and had flow. 1974-2006 RIP K-K-Os-Rapping over accoustic guitars. Nice L-Lupe Fiasco-Raw talent, reminiscent of old school rap. Pop appeal without being flashy. M-Madvillain-Find "Raid" and tell me they're not worth a listen. N-Norah Jones-Winning best new artist was still a snub to how great her music is O-Outkast...prior to The Love Below... P-Pharoahe Monch-Simon says give him a listen Q-Q-Tip-"The Renaissance" could've very well been the best rap album of 2008 R-The Roots-Hip Hop's only true "band" S-Slum Village-Fantastic Vols. 1 & 2 are hip hop classics. T-Talib Kweli-In my books, far better suited to dethrone Jay-Z as the "king of Brooklyn" U-Can't think of anything for this letter V-Vince Guaraldi-The jazz genius behind many "peanuts" music W-Will Smith-Doing such a great job at acting, everybody forgot he can rap X-Whatever happened to Xzibit? Y-Yo Yo Ma-Well known, but still worth listening to... Z-Zapp & Roger-More Bounce to the ounce...
  2. ^^Superman @ SFoT is the best S&S has to offer...period. ^^You took the words right out of my mouth. Cedar Point is a great park, but to be boasted around the world as the best amusement park on God's green Earth is a bit much. Yes, it's relatively clean, has fast operations, and the staffing seems to be friendly, but these are all (or should be) a STANDARD of your operations, not the extraordinary. It is for the same reason I think the "new" Six Flags Magic Mountain is overrated. It gets praise for being better that what is was circa 2004 and before, and it is. But to talk about the place like it can now compete with parks that have been effiecient, clean, and friendly for DECADES seems unfair to me.
  3. @ Feel the Force:I agree with you in the regard that a park is a park, but I moreso want to point out how parks have this reputation of being great when what the park actually delivers isn't what the hype around it is. Enthusiast hype is one thing, but when you tout about being the best park in the world, I expect your rides to run in light rain...
  4. Cedar Point is a great park, but f*ck the best amusement park in the Entire WORLD. Those Golden Ticket Awards should say: Best Amusement Park in the world* *when it's sunny with a low possibility of rain with Milennium Force not snapping a cable and Dragster not sheering off brake fins and winds are lower than 15 mph and it's warm enough to get a "good" ride on Magnum in the first car, 3rd row, and when Mean Streak gets condemned.
  5. ^^A THBS in terms of capacity=About the same as Mullholland Madness., if that helps.
  6. On an unrelated (but previously mentioned) topic, I checked my work schedule and will be free on Sept. 11th, so I might just go to this passholder appreciation thing...
  7. 1. I love cold mornings where you can see your breath in the air (and similarily the walk-in freezer at my work) 2. I've worked at both Knott's Berry Farm (circa 2006) and Six Flags Magic Mountain (circa 2007) as a ride op. Liked Six Flags ALOT better... 3. I play basketball for exercise and played in high school. I missed a buzzer beater that would have won a game and given me 40 points my senior year. I still got pitty tail... 4. I come off to a lot of people I meet as a jerk, but I'm actually pretty chill. I do admit I have a smart mouth and now that I'm getting older am getting a better control over it! 5. I live in Lynwood, California, which where I am am on the border of (across the street from) Compton. I live 17 miles away from Knott's and 48 miles away from Six Flags and still consider THAT my homepark, (though Disneyland at 27 miles away is growing on me)
  8. ^I am to assume it's because he agrees with you, or... He's a psycotic viral terrorist plotting to control your mind through infiltrating your TPR posts, slowly taking control of your cognative reflexes until he merges your thoughts with his, ultimately becoming one in the same... That being the worst case scenario, let's hope it's the former and not the ladder.
  9. ^Which would be fine by me so long as the quality was worth the price.
  10. More Than A Woman-The Bee Gees....
  11. Based on this logic, TTD, WT, MF and Maverick can technically be DEclassified as coasters* since they're missing one or both of these... *I am intentionally being as anal and whiney as te person who posted on the CP blog.
  12. Nitrofan, once again, you have displayed wisdom far beyond your years...I applaud you.
  13. Meh, I would have been fine had they just bought the trains and left it at that...
  14. Not 24 hours after this was announced, the people who were bent on this being a coaster are ignoring it and assuming one will be built in 2011...
  15. As I've seen so many times, It's not as black and white as most people would like it to be...and I'm surprised nobody's touched on this yet. Say ADHD is an issuse that results in instant, no wait access because they can't wait. What happens when you get a crowd of people with passes for ADHD? They'd still have to wait. What are you solving?
  16. I completely disagree with this logic. There is a difference between "accomadating" someone with a disability and taking advatage of a "disability". I think this is a case of the ladder. ADHD by itself is still debatable as a "disability" in the medical world, and to make concrete policies (not just in theme parks) based on things and conditions that are finicky at best, just makes me think that anybody could get special treatment for a "condition" they have.
  17. Yea...That I've noticed Tatsu has been a hit or miss this year...It's either a 10minute or hour wait...but I think it has more to do with dispatch intervals rather than crowds...just my observation though. I look at that ride through rose colored glasses so of course I'm gonna gripe about the crew...
  18. 80% of the parks personnel either come from the San Fernando or Antelope Valleys. The Newhall pass was closed during the aforementioned fire, which resulted in employees (or guests for that matter) not being able to get to the park, which was why it did not open that day...talk about dead!
  19. And where does this "FACT" come from. From the fact that the park has the highest per cap spending in the chain in addition to private parties in the off-season which guarentee a set amount of revenue between Jan-Mar while both Great America and Great Adventure are sitting under 3 feet of snow...
  20. Wildfires DO very well affect this park's attendance. Last year's wildfire actually warranted closure of the park. Granted last years fire was alot (and I mean ALOT) closer, fires like this affect traffic, air quality and overall safety. (even though this fire is 0 threat to Six Flags, people may not know or understand this) so people usually tend to stay away from that area overall this time of year.
  21. ^Really? I havent been since 2007, so I guessed i missed it. Oh well...
  22. I like to see it this way... When CF bought Six Flags WoA, Batman Knight Flight had to be rethemed, burning off the batman logos on the seats (though you could still see them, which was hilarious) and no one liked the coaster any less. Same applies to kiddie lands. Kids like fuzzy, furry things, it doesn't matter who it is that's fuzzy and furry. Kids like Chuck E. Cheese, who isn't on T.V. (save a few commercials) Kids love plush animals. Hell, kids love playing with chemicals under the sink! Moral of the story is, paint it bright colors and throw a walk around character and you could theme it to Mussolini, kids would eat it up.
  23. My original guess was a sports bar found in other CF parks...
