  1. ^Effective, though I'd wager to say not nearly as fun.
  2. ^That sucks. Sorry to hear. That whole ordeal seemed unnecessary but I'm glad that you won't be supporting a business that treats the consumer that way...which is why I have not stepped foot in Knott's as a guest and will continue not to.
  3. ^^I was under the impression we were in civil debate, so there are no ill feelings on my end of the keyboard But in all seriousness, You put it into perspective by cutting costs as the dollar being the bottom line-because for some reason most people seem reluctant to say so. I agree with you 110% on that. Here's where our opinions differ...Could you associate how people percieve the park and its overall rating with things like cutting operating expenses? You bet. How can you provide the best guest service, run your rides more efficiently than any other local park, and give the best overall park experience if you do so with less resources than your competitors?
  4. ^I'm going to have to disagree with you on not being able to predict the outcome of "economic cycles" and etc. I know we make fun of parks making bad decisions, but in all seriousness, I find it impossible to believe that a park would spend 20 million dollars (give or take) on a ride if they didn't know how it was going to run. With the way engineering is done these days, they have the knowledge of how a ride will behave even when its still pencil sketches on a bar napkin. Truth is, Magic Mountain, though better as of late, is still a long ways behind even local competitors when it comes to things like capacity. And no one seems to be able to come up with a reasonable answer as to why, other than "the cost is unbearable", to which I stand by the point that if the upkeep was not managable, the initial investment should not have been made.
  5. Operating costs? Wear and tear? Staffing? Shouldn't these have been things the park should have factored into the equation before they made 20 million dollar investments? I have no idea why the park reduces its capacity on rides that could really use it, (Tatsu and X come to mind). I'm not going to fuss over Scream! not running three trains, as two can efficiently keep the line moving, but having Tatsu's third train go back in service at the end of August isn't helping the park much. And yes, are these things expensive to maintain? Yes...and if that was going to be a problem that the park was going to face then they probably should have invested in much smaller rides.
  6. I just saw this movie not too long ago...Redboxed it... Is it just me, or was Adventureland and Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist the same f*cking movie???
  7. As a guest...I'd have to say my visit to SFDK last year. The Medusa crew ubersucked. 10 minute dispatches on a B&M should warrant a termination party. As an employee...Knott's Berry Farm isn't the most terrible job I've ever had, but it's second on the list. I loved what I did but the operations management make the rides department almost impossible to keep a high retention rate. I'll leave it at that
  8. ^Yea, but you folks in the Metro D.C. area don't have it that bad. At least your major coaster didn't get snatched out to go to another park so the company can continue to spoil their major parks even when they can't afford it...of course I could be speaking too soon...
  9. ^Meh...I like Nappy Roots, but never been a big fan. Goodie Mob and OutKast are my top-choices when it comes to southern style rap...
  10. As of last night, Red train is on the transfer track with purple in the brake block. The catch car is nowhere to be seen, and the cable is still threaded in the trough, just laying there.
  11. ^And I commend the mods for giving me the freedom to say that Knott's Berry Farm can s*ck it...
  12. ^Rather Blackstone to end up with it than say...Six Flags or Cedar Fair... Manta would become Ulitmate Flight, or Seahawk Kraken would become Batman, or Intimidator156 and landscaping would become parking lot or a sea of trash cans...
  13. Didn't Chang only have 2 trains?? I mean I know it has the setup to run three, but didn't the park only buy two?
  14. ^Yes...it will be new for the park anyway...
  15. Yup...Looks like my estimates as to what happened was right...might me down for a while still...
  16. CGA will get a "new" ride next season.
  17. If Chang goes to Great America, it will share a common factor with the rides mentioned above...
  18. I remember when I created my account and was careless about capitalization and punctuation. I thought "Who cares? it's the f!@#ing internet?" And I was addressed by the mods who brought it to my attention that my posts made me sound like an idiot. This could have been interpreted as being mean, but in the long run it saves you from everyone else calling you an idiot for having poor quality posts. This is one of the rather neater forums and that's do to the moderation staff. Ain't perfect but I couldn't do what they do...so as long as people aren't getting banned for saying that Knott's Berry Farm can s*ck it (as I occassionally do) all's well.
  19. ^Look up the fiasco behind consruction of Windjammer at Knott's. You'll find your answer there... EDIT:I did the work for you... look at the third bullet under "RIDE PROBLEMS"
