  1. ^^Thanks for the better picture...I just wanted to use a picture tha represented the seperation difference between the center of the city and the valley, though the angle of the picture is looking NE, verses he park beeing more NW. But your picture better illustrates how the park is off all by itself.
  2. I would guss the the BIGGEST contributing factor to MM not hitting the numbers as other seasonal parks nation wide is simply put, LOCATION. As an amusement park operator, Six Flags kinda gets both ends of the double edged sword with their L.A. property. It's in the L.A. market, and as saturated as this market is, what with Universal, Knott's and Disney but a stones throw away (assuming there is post-apacalyptic like traffic) and Los Angeles offering more than just amusement/theme parks to tourists (sightseeing, the film industry, beaches, shopping, etc) it makes it that much harder to get a strong grasp on a steady attendance rate. Despite being in the L.A. market, the second most populous region in the United States and according to Forbes sees about 58 million visitors a year, It rests on the outskirts of Metro L.A., far from where the central of this tourism and local buzzing is going on. Take Knott's for example. It's easier and less expensive to use MTA to get from Sylmar to Buena Park (though it'll take much longer) than it is to use Metrolink and Santa Clarita Transit to get from Sylmar to Six Flags. Despite Disneyland and Knott's being outside of L.A. County, they're closer to Metro LA and more of a convenience to get to than the almost outcasted Magic Mountain...which for the record is on the other side of these mountains. Yup. It'll take them a while to get those numbers up, but looks like they're up to the challenge.
  3. I think it was just fog and maybe some lighting. It wasn't anything spectacular. The effects on Superman were better.
  4. ^I'm surprised by this fact as well, but I agree that CP is the most probable candidate for the next PnP in the US. In addition, if they wanted to offset the sting from Shoot the Rapids, they'd wait until AT LEAST 2012 to add another ride. Yea, they had back-to-back rides before, but steel prices were lower then and the economy was alot stronger.
  5. ^If I had the mony to buy a new car, I'd still ask someone to pay my down payment, just to see if they would...
  6. Yea, but the problem I've noticed in dealing with negativity is that it only takes one person to ruin something. Are all cops dirty? Do all postal workers snap and go on a trigger happy gun spree? Do all black people eat watermelon (personally can't stand it) My point is, even if there is ONE person that decides to be a d*ck at these things, just ONE person, it can literally f*ck it up for everyone, because one person can sour and deteriorate all the hard work that goes into getting you close enough to management so you can even ask them questions.
  7. I didn't find TPR. It found me. Robb forced me to join at gunpoint.

  9. I'm just thinkin' bout my baby, it don't matter if you're black or white...
  10. ^Who says they're not? I'm sure the park is doing everything within their power to get the ride back up. But we never found out the severity of the initial incident so we don't know the extent of the damage or what needs to be fixed.
  11. ^Somewhat busy thanks to Toys-For-Tots. Something about free admission that brings people out the woodworks.
  12. The second video at :12 clearly shows the S:UF in Georgia. I should have been more clear by saying "Tatsu Commercial". Also they through Medusa in there. Got people in the park so hey!
  13. You would think they'd have done this kind of reasearch before they went to the city and said they were going to add it. Weird.
  14. I remember the promotional videos for Tatsu were quick clips of S:UF...
  15. Nylon is a harder type of material than polyurethane. As a result, it slides against the rails with less friction than polyurethane-a much softer material- which creates a better sense of pacing. Ride a Batman clone, the ride an invert with urethane wheels (Silver Bullet or Patriot) and see if you notice a difference.
  16. I'm a little unclear of all the financial jargon in the article, but if I understand correctly, is the park's quickest way to solvency changing owners?
  17. One thing I'd like to see that I'd LIKE to see is to theme the boardwalk area. Everyone uses the "Yea it isn't as nice as it once was but it's still got nice theming" excuse. The theme outside of Ghosttown is "park". Xcelerator has really cool custom trains, but outside of that, there's no way to tell it's 50's themed. Not even by the uniforms. At least Silver Bullet has the traditional ghosttown uniform.
  18. Six Flags America Busch Gardens Europe King's Dominion Carowinds and Capital Hill June 2010
  19. ^True, they could have used it, but I don't think a smartcar would have generated enough centripital force to make it through a clothoid.
  20. Pretty cool to me...
  21. Tatsu's pretzel pulls about an equal amount of G's, but the rider position probably is what is overkill for alot of people. Your not going through Goliath's helix on your back...
  22. Demon drop has already begun to be disassembled. But I would think that with the DeDro conspiracy apparently falling through, Screamin' Swing is going to stay put for right now... As for the idea of a Dive Machine...If space wasn't an issue I could totally see this park getting one. I just wouldn't care much if they did.
  23. Unless it's going to LaRonde...anywhere they put it would be south.
  24. That, i could kinda agree with...kinda. but based on this... and this...
