  1. At this moment, my avatar is the "buffalo man" symbol from the band Jamiroquai.
  2. July 2006 at Xcelerator Me: Sir, I need to check your daughter's height Guy: Why? She's been on this plenty of times! Me: Okay sir. I just want to make sure she's meeting the line Guy: But she's tall enough! Me: I'm not doubting you, but for her safety and my peace of mind just let me double check Guy: Fine! (I check, and the girls at least 3 inches too short.) Me: I'm sorry sir, your daughter is not tall enough for this ride Guy: but we've ridden this two times today already (conveniently enough we all worked all day shifts, so I ask him...) Me: Was her height checked by another operator? Guy: Some girl did it ealier Me: Okay, ( i call the only girlup there that day) Me: was it this girl? Guy: No it was another one Girl: I'm the only girl here today sir Guy: I want to seak to your supervisor! Me: Sure thing, you can step off the train and go to main information Guy: Okay, after we ride. Me: Oh no, there is no after we ride. It's either just you, or niether one of you. Guy: I'm going to have your job! Me: Have a great day sir. Both of them left, and nothing happened after that.
  3. I used to work around toddlers when I was 19. Kids would probably like playing in the dirt verses a Rollerskater. Add the coaster and a dirt pile. Have the best of both worlds!
  4. TPM25... I can assure you that the brakes did not function quite as "intended"... This V is an example of the brakes working properly in the event of a short shot. Slamming to a stop is not in the rides design. The ride has absolutely no friction brakes. Just magnets and drive tires. Also, you have to keep in mind that Intamin, B&M, Vekoma, etc are essentially just design firms. They don't fabricate every single piece of a ride. Lets say Steel Plant X is the only plant Intamin approves a park to buy brake fins from. A park would have to go through Steel Plant X to buy those brake fins. And if Steel Plant X is already busy with another contract and tells said park they can't start fabricating those fins for two months, all the park can do is sit there and wait. It's not like Knott's can go to Home Depot and find a catch car or pneumatic cylinders on aisle 12. There's more to fixing rides than just buying parts and putting them on. There's more to this accident than just a cable snapping. This ride has been SBNO is September 16th. If it opened back up in time for Haunt '09 it would've scared me. Be patient.
  5. ^Judging from the ambience of the RTL light in the background they at least started powering it back up now so yay!
  6. This plan is to high to get over, too low to get under, stuck in the middle, and the pain is thunder.
  7. I'm surprised that Orlando isn't up there with the big three this year as they were last year, but I still look for them to finish strong after the all-star break. I do see the Raptors as a surprise as Chris Bosh is pretty much carrying the team with no help. Memphis didn't surprise me so much as they did speed up the schedule. Quality big man in Marc Gasol, quality guard in OJ Mayo. It was just a matter of time anyway. Joe Johnson was a strong 2nd option in Phoenix, but now that he runs the show in Atlanta, he really has shown that he can hoop with the best of them. Dallas being the second best team in the west right now, I see the Lakers sailing to another Finals appearance. That said, I think watching the east playoffs up until the finals should be more fun to watch.
  8. ^From my experience I've never had a problem with any park in early June. All the college kids who work at parks are out so the park is close to fully staffed, and all the schools are still in so no (or extremely little) high schoolers or day camps.
  9. Classic "white girl in horror movie" touch "Becky, I heard a weird noise over there" "Really April? Let's go check it out!" Classic. In all seriousnes, the production, acting, and delivery seems superb so far. I was actually impressed with what the project is so far and look forward to seeing updates on it.
  10. I agree hardily. I'd rather see the park not open until they have the numbers to properly run it.
  11. Seems like alot of the people who are going through litigation didn't invest in CF to make money to begin with...just seems like alot of mom & pops' who wanted to root for the hometeam. With debt that wasn't going anywhere, attendance dropping, and needed capital improvements, Cedar Fair had two forseeable options. Either sell, or sit there and do nothing until the company wasn't worth anything. I want to see the case CF/AGM is going to make.
  12. Up in the Air- **** I liked the plot, the acting was very believable but loses points for being one of those movies with "hidden messages". I did like the message it sent however. I think it shows very well how one has to shed a personal life to suceed in the professional world, and those who keep the attachments of family and personal contact are "weighed down" and get cut loose.
  13. Meh...Wasn't that bad. All coasters mentioned broke some type of record at some point or is unique...so it's not horrible.
  14. ^^Not only did Cedar Point not touch Magnum went they installed Millenium Force, but they added a sign to it!
  15. ^Pull throughs are usually done with the first car of the train, I don't think they fabricate a car just for the pull through. All the one's Ive seen are just done with a crane and one or two cars.
  16. True, but coming from a former operator of the same ride, you can still hit decent numbers with a steady crew...
  17. I doubt think there is a bigger MJ fan on this site than I. But this even has ME saying WTF?
  18. I'd find it hilarious if the trains turn out to have Mattehorn-esque seatbelts...
  19. ^As someone who rode Medusa as both the original and Bizarro redo, it isn't worth the cash, it's best to just repaint it and plant some grass under it.
  20. I'd say no. A two hour wait due to reducing capacity of a ride isn't the same thing as a two hour wait due to everyone and their mother wanting to ride it.
  21. Don't forget that ranking includes all the B:TR clones (Great White, Goliath, Vampire etc) not just the one at your local Six Flags. Others might be better themed. Or perhaps people just ranked it higher because it has an awesome, forceful layout.
