HELLO HARD ROCK PARK! YOU NEED TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET THE PEOPLE COMING TO MYRTLE BEACH ON VACATION TO COME VISIT YOUR PARK!!!
--Robb
Ya know, I would have never heard of HRP if I hadn't been a theme park fan. They didn't do enough advertising. Going down I-95 on the way to Florida, I only saw one sign advertising it. No commercials or anything around Maryland. Shoot, half the people I talk to never even heard of it.
On the other hand, I was telling one of my friends about the park and its epic failure. Then he said "No way! Theme parks never close!"

Don't Sizzlers move counterclockwise instead of clockwise like the Scramblers?
-
Ouch! That rollover looks painful! I vote either it's from Arrow or Vekoma.
-
Thanks for posting Shane. This thread is probably one of the best sources on the net for roller coaster info. Please keep 'em coming!
On a side note:
Has anyone else noticed that Raging Spirits at TDL and Indiana Jones at DLRP are almost exactly copied from the looping "TL 59"? (Without the pain I'm sure.)

^Haha, I thought the same thing when before I read the caption!

If AT were to get a Gerstlauer, I'd put my money on it going in the black hole tent. SW6 is supposed to have a capacity of 1200ph, which suggests a train length of 16+ capacity, and I none of their current coasters (at least adult coasters) have actual 'trains'. Correct me if i'm wrong, of course!
Which manufacturers have previously done switch/trick track? Maurer, vekoma, premier, S&S? Any I'm missing out?
Actually, think it may very well be Premier. I can see it being a combination of Italian Job and Mummy.
Just because Tussauds / Merlin tend to get coasters in pairs, it doesn't mean they have to do it this time. Also, didn't Tussauds recently sell the park to another company, or am I mistaken? Wouldn't this mean AT is on their own? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

So does this mean Ryan will be able to actually get that thing going at 88 mph?
If so, I have some time travel requests:
*I need to go back in time to the Phoenix and Boulder Dash ERT sessions.
*There's some investments and bets I need to make in 1987
*There's also this Nirvana gig in 1992 in Sydney I'd like to catch
I'll let you know the rest later.
When you go back to the ERT sessions, make sure you don't see yourself or we could have a major paradox!

I think it would have looked nice if they had made it into a mountain IMO, it could have been done very easily. And it would have looked a whole lot nicer than it looks in its current state because honestly, those bars really stick out and are quite unattractive.
I think it looks hot....
But in all seriousness though, it sticks out like a sore thumb. I agree with Coasterlvr, it would be easy, look nice, and blend in. Perhaps even add some fog.

On the side note, my mom's friend's daughter just brought home a permission slip for a band trip to Hard Rock Park in 2009.
Looks like there are gonna be a bunch of disappointed middle school kids...

I don't think so. Thunder Express was a mirror image of the mine ride at Six Flags St. Louis. Their mine ride goes out of the station and to the right. So that means Thunder Express would have to turn left out of the station, as Tennessee Tornado does today. It also makes sense because the station and storage building floor is slanted downwards to let gravity pull it out of the station. This would be a pain to reverse.
So Tennessee Tornado's station was Thunder Express's station, and Thunder Express's storage building is Tennessee Tornado's storage building.

These photos will focus on Islands only. We had SpideyFreak join us, however, I only have one shot. I don't have too many photos, and you guys have probably seen most of them, so I'll post what I can.
The best part of today was riding Dudley in 50 degree weather. Oh yeah, that was REAL smart. Somehow, it actually made it more fun.
Riding Dudley wasn't as bad as me riding Popeye right after. I got completely drenched. Kinda funny that David hardly got wet on Dudley though...
Eli was the smart one lol...

Well, this is what's up:
I went to IOA this past week, and saw the show. On Saturday the vortex was there. Then I went again on Tuesday, and it wasn't on. So after the show, I asked "Taylor" if it was gone. He said it indeed was, and pretty much begged me to go to guest relations to say something about it. So I go to guest relations and tell them I don't like it and guess what the reason was...
"It's part of the Green Initiative from NBC."
So, the vortex is gone. However, I asked the guy at guest relations if enough people complained about it, would they bring it back. He said that was a good possibility. So all is not lost, yet.
Hey Robb, can we start a petition?
-
Who's that guy in the red shirt on the last pic? Looks kinda like my science teacher a few years back.
-
^ I couldn't have said it any better.
I was really looking forward to going to this park next year, mainly for the credits. To be honest, I don't think we will see any of major companies buying this place.
-
Also, what was your opinion of the old skyride station's new paintjob? Looks kind of bland, doesn't it?
I didn't even notice lol.
-
does anyone know what those pieces are beneath the upstop wheels on fahrenheit? I've never seen those before.
It's where the drive wheels right before the lift make contact with the train.
Finally! I see myself in an update! Lightning Racer ERT was just pure awesomeness. Great pics Hanno.
On the other hand, did anyone go see the 3D show at Chocolate World? I'm sorry I wasted my money on it.
-
So do you get Fahrenheit yet?
Nope. But I figured the hell with it, its got airtime!

Hey everybody! This past Saturday I was at Hersheypark with a private group of 7,000 people. Rides were mostly a walk on all day, which gave me lots of picture and ride time. Hershey has also wasted no time in demolishing the rapids ride and Rodeo to make way for "The SEAquel."
The day started out with a ride on Fahrenheit and several rides on Storm Runner in the 50 degree wind. I saw Trailblazer running and decided to take a ride. The station was empty and it pretty much turned into Trailblazer ERT. Then I went on the monorail, which proved to be a good spot for pictures. Then I pretty much ran all over the park several times riding most of everything.
Anyways, without further delay, pictures! These are pretty much posted in the order they were taken.
Thanks for reading!
It was then I realized I had no chocolate all day!

Well on the way to school the other morning I saw a carnival set up in the parking lot of a mall. Since I had nothing better to do after work today, I decided to check it out. Sadly, the Street Fighter had a leveling issue (the lot was on a slight hill) and was not open. In fact, they were breaking it down, which lead to me instinctively taking many pics and video. A big thanks goes out to some of the employees for letting me hang around and snap some pics. Overal it was a fun evening!
Now onto pics:
Please excuse the quality of some of the pics. I used my cell phone as I did not have my camera with me.
Today's carnival will be presented to you by:
Ready to roll!

They default to open, the air is used to close them.
-
On rides like Flight of Fear and Jokers Jinx, there is a brake run at the end of the launch. In the event of a "misfire" the brakes will stop the train.
-
Ok Robb, the second to last picure was enough. But that last one just scarred me for life.
Looks like you guys are having fun.
Have a safe trip,
Matt

Project Voyage is the result of a trip to Holiday World which inspired me to work to recreate the Voyage. Most of us know that the actual ride will not fit in the No Limits map, so this gave me yet another challenge. This is not necessarily a recreation, it is my version of the Voyage from a "What if it had to fit in the No Limits map in the first place?" perspective.
Stats:
Height: 165ft
Speed: 67 mph
Trains: 3, 7 cars each
Elements: Several airtime hills, and three 90 degree banked turns.
Please let me know what you think...
Skoosh.com for booking a hotel

Never heard of these guys before. Personally, I never use online booking sites. We had a bad experience in Branson a while back and got screwed out of a room for two nights after it was paid for. We use the websites to find a hotel, then we book through the hotel's website. It works a little bit better for us now.
