  1. Is the Phoenix (Intamin Looping Starship) still in operation?
  2. I'm sad to see the spider go, but this looks like a great replacement! It's kind of ironic how this 65ft tall swing ride will have a smaller height requirement than the park's wave-swinger, though.
  3. I'm nervous. Plus, the park hasn't even mentioned the Timberliners since the beginning of the season...
  4. With new trains, I think this coaster could really be a hit at SFA. I'm just glad to see that the world's first B&M will still live on.
  5. There's just no way that this isn't Iron Wolf. The timing is way too convenient.
  6. That was fairly gasp-worthy. Not cool. Hope everyone gets their rides in soon. These coasters have approximately three years till they start beating the crap out of you. (Okay, so maybe I'm slightly overreacting. But still. This is quite a bummer.)
  7. I think this looks great. The first drop should be awesome near the back of the train (and everywhere else, but...).
  8. Is anyone else surprised at how quickly these wing-rider coasters are catching on? This will apparently be the 4th one we "know" about, and the concept has only be alive for a couple years.
  9. Amazing. Simply amazing. Perhaps the most beautiful set of first drops on any wooden coasters in existence? I think so.
  10. It's funny. You're right, Holiday World is a somewhat small park in the middle of nowhere...but the crowds it draws are absolutely ridiculous. After mid-June, I wouldn't step foot in the park on a weekend. Especially not Splashin' Safari. There's a reason the park has built a second wavepool, lazy river, a fourth large kids play area, and is now building a 6-person per raft, second water coaster. However, the plan you suggested for maneuvering about the park is the best one possible, and hopefully the Kentucky State Fair will draw some people away from the park this weekend. Have a great trip, PAL!
  11. I have to say...I just read the last 50+ pages of this thread, and I'm really disappointed. No discussion about trims? Sad.
  12. It seems pretty clear to me, based on the park's past additions and the recent survey, that when Holiday World does add their steel coaster, they'll be out to make it the best of the best. I don't understand why people keep throwing out "Eurofighter" and "medium sized coaster"...Holiday World strives for records, rewards, and satisfaction. I feel confident in saying that their upcoming additions won't disappoint anyone (who is sane).
  13. Wow, I hadn't even thought about that, but it makes so much sense. Oh, and BTW, I was the guy who described the "triple-down" on Bert the Conqueror. I tried to explain it in terms that the GP would understand so that hopefully my interview would get used. Sorry to hear that I left a few of you dissatisfied.
  14. I just don't understand why everyone keeps saying that the ride wasn't well-received by the public. Each day that I visited the park in 2007, 2008, and up until the incident in 2009, Son of Beast had a HUGE line...and when the ride was over, when the ops asked, "How was your ride?!" Most people on the trains cheered. To me, it seems like it was mainly enthusiasts who had a big issue with the ride, not the GP.
  15. I think being held by chains from a height of 150 feet would be much more terrifying...
  16. Those mini-frisbees are a blast, and the Power Surge is one of my favorite flats. This little park looks like a ton of fun.
  17. The Legend is running the best it ever has. My rides on it the last two nights (and Wednesday) were incredible. That guy in the third-to-last picture is a hoot. When that train came back into the station after his "zen" ride, my friend and I took the front seat and we rode and re-rode like that until the last ride of the night. The three of us had a great time, and that guy ended up getting *43* rides on the Legend that night! So I guess we barely missed each other, and were riding on opposite trains, haha. Glad to hear that you a great time at the event, too!
  18. Awesome reports, guys. Thanks for sharing! So...do these "new foam" shoulder straps feel any different than the older versions?
  19. Agreed. Moving those swings (especially the new location that they've chosen) is a tragedy. That was easily the most exciting Yo-Yo I've ever ridden...and the only one I would have ever taken the time to ride again. And again.
  20. LOL! My dad and I drove to Uncle Bernie's to check it out. At night. Easily one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.
  21. This thing looks great. Really great. I can't wait to see photos of it all lit-up at night.
  22. I loved this ride. It had some seriously good pops of airtime. So does this leave southern Florida coasterless? How can that be...?
  23. That's insanity. How tall is that proposed model?
  24. Hmm... Can Robb go shoot that POV, like, now?
