Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

If you're going for 2 days or more, it's worth it to splurge for the Platinum Pass. Assuming 3 total people for two days, traveling in one car, that's $814.80 buying the two-day ticket online, 3 regular FL passes each day, and one regular two-day parking. If you were to buy FL+ each day you're looking at $949.80. Conversely, 3 Platinum Passes would be $668.99, which includes parking, gets you early entry, and lets you buy FL Plus passes for the regular FL price at the park ($522 for 3 people both days). That comes out to $1,190.99 total. That's only $375 ($125 a person) more than the daily ticket option ($160 total/$53 a person more than the daily+FL Pus option), and you get all of the following benefits: -Discounts on Food. -FL+ at regular FL price (this is huge) -Access to the Water Park. -Early Entry both days. -The ability to add in a third day when you arrive or are leaving, even if a partial day, for $0. -You could go to other CF parks (Dorney is a 2 hour drive from almost anywhere in NJ and KD is a 3-4 hour drive) as much as you want for the rest of the season, including Haunt and Winterfest. Seems like a no-brainer to me unless this CP trip is your only amusement park trip all year and you don't care about not having skip-the-line on the rides that you will most need it on (seriously regular FL is a ripoff at this park, IMHO). Also, Coastermania is Friday, and admission to that is only $35 with a Platinum Pass ($80 without), and would get you 4 hours of ERT in the morning before opening and 3 hours after closing, free lunch, and some sort of cruise (?). ***EDIT*** If you're only going one day, Friday of Coastermania, then I'd say daily tickets might be the better option, but FL Plus is mandatory. Seriously the regular FL is a joke. I cannot stress this enough. Though, if you and your friends are club TPR members can swing being at the park from 7 AM to 1:30 AM, buying the Coastermania admission might be the better deal. -
Las Vegas Area Attractions Discussion

All three time's I've been to Vegas it was for drinking, shows, and nightclubs...none of those industries seem to be hurting. -
Just a suggestion, but Google doesn't have such nonsensical restrictions for Android, and even if they don't allow it on the store, you can always publish it independently.

Dorney still has an octopus that runs. -

Really? According to Wikipedia they're all defunct. Not talking about the Skywheel type, but the tilting type as pictured above. -

Kings Dominion is the only one I have tried it at, and they do NOT offer FL+ at the regular FL price with the Platinum pass. -
Long wait times?
AmyUD06 replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I distinctly remember waiting 4 hours to ride Skull Mountain at SFGAdv its debut year. I was like 14 though, so my memory may be foggy. I positively remember waiting 3 hours with breakdowns to ride Maverick at CP in 2008. -
aueft's Philadelphia Labor day week trip plans
AmyUD06 replied to aueft's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's not the most unfriendly driving city I've been in. There's usually a garage or surface lot every other block or so. I typically park in one place and then Uber/Lyft/Taxi where-ever else I'm going, but that's typically due to intoxication rather than annoyance at driving/parking. -
aueft's Philadelphia Labor day week trip plans
AmyUD06 replied to aueft's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Note that Philadelphia International Airport is a good 15-20 minute drive from the city itself. Uber/Lyft or a taxi will be at least $25 either way. With all the driving you're doing, it might make fiscal sense to get the car at the airport and return it there at the end of the trip. Depending on when you can fly in on Day 1, you can probably knock out some of your Philly culture stuff that first night. Don't forget to go grab a cheesesteak at either Geno's (if you like sliced steak) or Pat's (if you like chopped) when you're near the Mummer's Museum. Some may call them tourist traps and direct you to some crap like Tony Luke's (if you like a ton of pepper) or Jim's on South (if you like more bread than meat and cheese), but Geno's is my go-to. If you need bar recommendations I can help you out there too. -

Moreys Piers Discussion Thread

Surprisingly Wildwood was quite dead this weekend. I understand it's still the off season but between the car show (which was very sparsely populated) and gymnastics competition I expected it to be busier. Guess the forecast played a part. Anyway, updates from Surfside Pier. Still a lot of work to do for Runaway Tram Car. Doo Wopper's new station under construction in the New location. -

So... I'm down in Wildwood for car Show weekend. Only Mariner's was open tonight (PigDog was not yet open for the year so no review there). Some notable changes pictured below. More updates tomorrow. Malestrom is gone. As are the Go-Karts. -

For the record, both Dorney and Kings Dominion (and possibly other CF parks) announced the removal of Dinos Alive well in advance of the end of the season. The part I've bolded is exactly the reason. Judging by social media commentary, Dinos is a huge hit with families with small children, so a random "Hey this is closing next week" pisses them off. If notice is given that it's leaving in 4-5 months, that gives them time to still get to the park to experience it. It's just good will building...don't read too much into it. -

I wonder if all of the cars will have roofs. I'll be down there this weekend and will try to take some pictures of any construction that may be happening on the pier. -

I can't tell if the poster analysis is being sarcastic or not. I mean, it should be, but you never know.
