So, why are you scared of drops? What goes through your head if you were to experience a big drop? It seems it's not a motion sickness thing- only a psychological thing, which I'm sure we can rectify!

Mutant Distributors?
RCoasterny replied to GMAN962's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First it was Donkeys, then Rodents, then something something, and now it's Mutant Distributors. I guess that's what you get when you have forum administrators with ADHD. -

Knoebels launches new site (..finally)
RCoasterny replied to Primogen18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
yup- you got it. The Cosmotron picture shows the previous Traver Caterpillar ride (it has a custom Wisdom SilverStreak now). Satellite now has a metal grating on the nose and sides, and the flourescent tubes were replaced with turbolites. -

Knoebels launches new site (..finally)
RCoasterny replied to Primogen18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, finally! There are a couple new things- Flying Turns and Three Ponds golf course being one of them. I also noticed something new at the campground. It's the "Dream Suite" which is (as per the website): "A honeymoon style park model unit; complete with round bed, heart shaped tub, mood lighting, bath and kitchenette." Now that sounds like the perfect cabin for TPR! I noticed something unusual about the pictures used for the Cosmotron and the Satellite rides. See if you can figure out what's different about those photos.. -
Random Photo TR: Nicole scrapes off her car!
RCoasterny replied to niiicolaaah's topic in Random, Random, Random
Poor Nicole! I know what it is like to scrape off a sheet of ice off your car! I didn't have to do any scraping because my car was parked in a garage overnight! However, my previous car was parked outside during the ice storm in 2003, and I did have to scrape off the ice from my car. Here's what happened: Since I knew there was going to be an ice storm and I would have to scrape off the ice from my car, I brought the scraper inside the apartment the night before. My car had remote start, so I figured, "Start the car, warm it up and melt the ice, making it easier to scrape off." The next morning I started up the car and let it warm up a bit and allowing it to shut itself off after 5 minutes. The ice came off easy, and then I went to open the door. The door wouldn't open! I tried all the other doors and they all wouldn't open! I thought the doors were frozen shut! After 10 minutes of trying I realized something and looked inside. The door was still locked. Hit the unlock button on the key fob and the door opened just fine. *Sigh...* -
The weird heart shaped element enters and exits in the same direction, like a regular loop. It goes up into a half loop, then executes a barrel roll, then into another half loop back down. Here's a link to RCDB that shows a picture of the train half-way through the element: http://www.rcdb.com/ig430.htm?picture=2 .

Knoebels Phoenix model up for sale
RCoasterny replied to Primogen18's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can find quite a few errors in the model itself. Especially with the station/turnaround/lifthill area. I'm not sure of the accuracy of the two models that Knoebels has on display- the first one was built by a local high school wood shop the same time Knoebels was constructing the Phoenix back in 1985. The second model seemed to have more attention to detail and accuracy- I don't know who built it, and it was first put on display a few years back. -
The Official Nintendo Wii Discussion Thread
RCoasterny replied to MiamiBoii4392's topic in Random, Random, Random
Saw this cartoon today: http://www.joyoftech.com/joyoftech/joyarchives/906.html Thought it was hilarious - a spoof on those ads in the comic books using the Wii... -
The adventure of Lil' Robby Robb

If this keeps up, we would have a comic book, sold exclusively at TPR soon! -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
RCoasterny replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Crap. What's with Kennywood removing fun exciting rides and replacing them with "blah" rides? I loved the Flying Carpet- it ran much better than Marineland's version! First the Swing Around, then the Bayern Kurve, and now the Flying Carpet! What's next? Kangaroo? -
Tallest Ferris Wheel for Beijing 2008
RCoasterny replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Or worse- The wheel stops and the motors that keeps the pods level keeps going. -
That won't work if you have the freeware version of Flip4Mac, as well as the non-Quicktime Pro version. I have the QuickTime Pro version, as well as the Flip4Mac Player Pro version, and I can export to iPod from WMV. I prefer this over iSquint which will work, but the resulting file looks worse than the original.

That's what I was thinking too! Phoenix being better than her brother, Twister! I thought Twister had a better edge over the Phoenix last summer! Sad to say, the Phoenix is not what it used to be in the 1990's. It has lost it's luster, and the slam dunk on the 2nd to last hop into the brake run is gone. I've been riding the Phoenix every summer for the past 20 years and I have noticed the Phoenix becoming mellow in the past 4 years.

Parking robbery!
RCoasterny replied to RCoasterny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, Excuuuuuse me for comparing parking prices to parks such as Knoebels, Seabreeze, Martin's Fantasy Island and Marineland! -
Here's the article: http://www.the-signal.com/?module=displaystory&story_id=34818&format=html Since parking at SFMM costs $15 and up, it was an easy target for a robbery since a toll booth would have a large amount of cash on hand. The easy access to I-5 made it easier for a get-away. Now if parking was only $5-6 or even FREE, this robbery wouldn't happen in the first place!

Don't own a scooter, but have ridden a mini-bike, a dirt bike and now own a car. The most fun was this Sno-Runner that my dad has. He still has it but it doesn't work due to the track chain being rusted onto the drive sprocket. The Sno-Runner was made by Chrysler and was basically a motorcycle for snow. Here's a website about the Sno-Runner: http://www.sno-runner.com/default.asp It's not as fast as a snowmobile, but it's a lot of fun to ride. I used to keep riding it till it ran out of gas!

The free spinning cars on a train has already been done. Check out Star World: http://www.renoldi.net/starworld/index.html and http://www.ridesdb.com/en/db/ride_fact.php?ride_id=1145 that's traveling on the german fair circuit. Maybe Mack's version will have 4 people per car, like Euromir, while Star World only has 2 people per car.

Now, imagine 32 ACEr's riding a coaster naked. Good luck getting that vivid image out of your head! I'm sure most of you would love to see college girls riding the Phoenix naked!
