Please explain why the Tokyo version of the Tiki Room is classic. Please also explain why everyone (besides Chuck) is either ignoring or unaware that Tokyo's already had a show change in 1999. The original ride in Disneyland(assuming it was their first and not Magic Kingdom), is classic for being a relatively old ride(1963) and for being the first ride to feature audio-animatronics. The ride at TDLR, while not the original, is still considered a classic ride for me for being a copy of the first ride which had a large impact. I just think that The Enchanted Tiki Room is a somewhat important ride, and I don't think it should be messed with. I can see how what I said didn't make much sense though. Plus, just look at how the one at Magic Kingdom turned out when it was refurbished.

Everybody now: "In the tiki tiki tiki room...In the tiki tiki tiki room." Great, now I'm going to have the song stuck in my head all night. *repeatedly hits self* Why does Disney, or OLC in this case, want to change this classic attraction. I'm not saying Stitch will ruin this attraction, but is it really necessary? At least they aren't using the bird from Lion King though.

Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds? -
Looking at your photos of Darien Lake, along with other TRs, I think I caught the park on a bad day. It appears to be nicer than I remember, but maybe it just seemed bad after visiting SFGADV two days before. If I could go back to upstate New York/Ontario, I would give Darien Lake another chance, and I would make sure I didn't skip the carnival that turned out to be Martins Fantasy Island. lol

Photo TR: Six Flags Great America - June 2, 2008
Airtime&Gravity replied to Golfie's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
While fun, Dark Knight did have its problems. Like you mentioned, the ride moves so fast that by the time you see the theming, it is gone. Sure it is fun, but it isn't the coaster that I have to ride every trip I make to the park. One of the best things about Dark Knight is that it is air conditioned (why I rode it a second time on my last visit), and that it attracts large crowds making the other lines shorter. -
The U. S. trip will supposedly be a trip to Texas, but it wouldn't surprise me if Frontier City and Cliffs wound up on the trip too. Because you will be a minor, you will share a room with another minor, or an 18 year old if no other minors are available.

Best Damn Tip Sheet Period
Airtime&Gravity replied to Hercules's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Six Flags Great America Park management -get to the park early, world be good to arrive before opening -go to Superman first if you want the credit -Dark Knight should be ridden early as it gets long lines with frequent breakdowns -Continue working your way in a counter-clockwise circle around the park. Most of the coasters you can go on now either have short lines, or the line moves quickly. -If you like water parks, hit up Hurricane Harbor later in the day as the lines will be shorter, and because it is a really nice park. -If you do end up at the park on a Saturday or a crowded Sunday, get a Q-bot. Best time to go to the park -weekdays, but Sundays aren't that bad either -do not visit on a Saturday -do not visit in August as the park is packed and the weather is awful Food Recommendations -Aunt Martha's Boarding House is a hit or miss. Sometimes it is good, and other times not so much -Ma and Pa's Trail Grub has a great 1/3 pound brat with a side of curly fries for I think $7. It is probably one of the best values in the park. -Claim Jumpers has a decent cheese and beef sandwich -Panda Express...no need to explain -Make sure you get a funnel cake sundae (either by Whizzer or Iron Wolf) as they are awesome Ride Recommendations -Raging Bull -Viper -American Eagle -V2 -Dark Knight (at least once) -Batman (the original) -Giant Drop -Revolution (if its open) -King Chaos (if its open) -River Rocker (yes its just a swinging ship, but it is a good one) -Hurricane Harbor -
I thought the courthouse was destroyed, did the news reports get it wrong? I'm just amazed at the size and intensity of the fire, but then again, it doesn't surprise me when I look at what burned. This fire spread very fast, and al of the photos and videos I've seen of it make it look as though some industrial plant is on fire. If you don't know, the video vault, not the film vault, burned. The video vault holds 40,000 duplicates while the film vault holds the originals.

Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Airtime&Gravity replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
17/20 - pretty easy as it either lists a coaster at the park or hare obvious for other reasons...well obvious to me. Wow, I need a life. lol -
At least they got Nitro back up and running as it is an awesome coaster. Also, like Eric said, there are more trash cans there than I remember, but the park still looks as great as I remember. When I went to SFGAM on Memorial Day, it looked as though Cedar Fair bought the park as there were trash cans all over. I think I counted something like twelve between the entrance and going along the right side of the carousel to the area where the path branches off to Hometown Square and the go-karts.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wish that was the case. This is a great publicity stunt though, but I hope it doesn't backfire on them if people think this will be a serious rule. Even though I'm all for confiscating PDAs from people in a park, people use them for reasons beside work like Robb said. Robb has even said that he is doing an update on his PDA from a park, and people use them to communicate with other people in the park. Work should not be a concern when visiting a park, and if a PDA is being used for business, then it should be confiscated as people should focus on having fun with their family. -

I didn't know Cedar Fair ran Genting Highlands...lol I've been interested in this park as it seems to be unknown for a fairly large park. The coaster selection doesn't seem to be that great, but there seems to be a lot to do at the resort. Great pictures and trip report, and I can't wait to see where you go next. -
Many of thee teenagers that I overheard thought that this was a shooting dark ride, (especially after the preshow)and they were surprised when it was a coaster. Many of the complaints I heard in line was that the didn't want to have to "work" when riding a ride, (how lazy can you get?) and after they were upset about the ride not being larger. I loved the ride for what it is. Sure it isn't big, but it is a lot of fun with decent theming. Sure it stops halfway through, but by this point, the car is going so fast that it would be impossible to understand the theming. Most of the theming is on the top section willed with the directional changes, and many of these are lighting effects with a few sets. While still somewhat fast, (the turns are taken fast) it is still possible to understand what is going on. it might take a few rides to see everything, but even if ridden multiple times, Dark Knight will still be fun. Just remember to use a flash pass.

Wow, this is almost the size of Tatsu-I was expecting something slightly larger than Air-, and it sounds like it might even be better than Tatsu. I'm not a fan of flying coasters, but this sounds like it should be a lot of fun, and I might actually ride it if I'm ever in the park. The thing I'm most excited about this though is the theming, and I can't wait to see how the coaster interacts with the environment/exhibit.

You're missing the point. It's not a thrill ride. It's geared for the family. I agree, and those that have been complaining about it seem to be teenagers. When I rode it, families enjoyed it while teenagers thought it wasn't that good. Sure it may be short, but almost all indoor coasters are. It seems that almost all indoor coasters are disliked by teenagers and enthusiasts while enjoyed by families. Even though it isn't a large Intamin or B&M, it is still a fun family coaster, and those that are complaining have been spoiled with the large coaster collections at the parks where these went.

Best and Worst Log Flumes
Airtime&Gravity replied to gldude's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The log flume at Camp Snoopy/Nickelodeon Universe is one of the best I've been on as it is well themed and a lot of fun. Six Flags St. Louis also has a well themed and fun log flume. The worst log flumes I've been on are Yankee Clipper and Loggers Run at Six Flags Great America. These rides have practically no theme, aren't very fun, and don't get riders that wet. Hopefully they will be replaced soon with one of those spinning raft slides and some more flats. -

Castle Park to open Dragon Flyers!
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well we know where Elissa will be when the spinning coaster opens... I assume that the spinning coaster will be one of the Zamperla models as they are mainly what are built these days. Even though I'm not a fan of spinning wild mice coasters, this will make a good addition to a family park like Castle Park. Edit: RCDB says it will be a Fabbri Spinning Madness(40m) -
I rode SFGAM's yesterday, and I was impressed. The theming is good for Six Flags, but like has been said before, the end is a disappointment. The ride itself is really fun, and it is a great family coaster. Yesterday the ride itself broke down a few times, and there were audio problems with the pre-show and queue line televisions. One bad thing is is that vandals have already attacked the first part of the queue(before the main section). There is already graffiti on the walls(not part of the theming), and people have chipped large sections of paint off. I will say that this ride is going to be extremely popular as both of my waits today were over an hour(1.5 and 2). Now the ride broke down both times, but even once the bugs are worked out, this coaster is going to have long lines. The queue house is air conditioned really well, so on days like yesterday where it is hot and humid, the line will probably be longer than usual. __________________
