^You'd think a single fence would be enough, but like you said, it is America. People here just have no sense or responsibility or common sense. Plus you get those who want to protect us from ourselves by having more fences added and air gates required. If you look at European parks, many ony have a single fence, and some coasters even lack air gates. How is it that they manage to be safe, but here in America, we still find ways to get killed with all of the safety measures in place? I've been watching Six Flags stock today, and even though other factors are hurting it, this accident is probably why the stock is at $1.05. If Six Flags does go bankrupt (I hope it doesn't), hopefully a company like Merlin or Parques Reuindos can come in, buy all(or most) of the parks, and continue to operate them. I know Six Flags going bankrupt sounds bad, but if Parques Reuindos buys the company, then it might be a good thing. I've been impressed with what they've done with their other parks, and I think they would be a great owner of Six Flags.

SFKK Northwest Territory
Airtime&Gravity replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFKK was a nice park when I went in 2006, and while not great, it still has a decent flat selection with some good coasters. Sure the only stand-out coasters are Chang and Greezed Lightning, but they are still fun(even T2) When I went, the park was clean, and the staff was friendly. With the exception of the operations on the wild mouse, I'd say that the staff was doing a good job of running the rides. As for the area in question, I hope it gets redone, and after seeing what was done to the water park, I bet whatever is done will turn out great. Hopefully they can put in some large flats(something the park lacked) like a screamin swing or giant frisbee, but a dark ride would be good to. If a coaster is part of the plan, then hopefully something unique to the area like a euro-fighter, but I won't complain if a GCI is added. I just hope they make it easier to get to as if I remember correctly, it was difficult to reach.(might be why TT are so unpopular) -
Yeah, GCI believes in the "less is more" philosophy. Most of their rides are relatively small(not all but most), yet they are constantly rated some of the best wooden coasters around. They don't build coasters to scare you to death like Gravity Group or Intamin, but rather to be a coaster that is simply a lot of fun to ride.

Texas Adventure (rct2)
Airtime&Gravity replied to jpp858858's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
A few things: 1. Try adding a custom station to the coasters and the car ride. 2: While the midways are themed, you might want to work on theming your rides as they look strange the way they are. 3. The rides in your park are really close together, so you might want to spread them out. 4. Redesign the wooden coaster as it looks absolutely brutal. The first drop looks like it has some crazy airtime, but that doesn't mean much when the riders are nearly beaten to death. -

Nope, the text is still cut off. On the left column, it is cut off after the first line. However, this is because of the smaller boxes containing whatever is new. The right column cuts off on the third line. -

Like has been said before, it is almost impossible to know who to believe as neither side is the most truthful. On one side, you have Cedar Fair who have said they intend to keep the park open, and while true, the only keep the water park open. On the other hand, you have ACE, and while all my knowledge of the group comes from this site, I wouldn't believe them right away either. At least the coaster got saved, but it sounds like it is only going to be a lawn ornament. Sort of random, but does anyone else think GL would still be a SF park if Shapiro ran the chain back in 2004? -

^It obviously won't this year due to the harsh winter which slowed it's removal from SFGA, but I've heard it might be for next year. -

^I did that though, but it still says I need to log in. After I hit submit, a link comes up that says Return To Theme Park Review, and it takes me to the main page. -

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Is it just me, or do the restraints look like they'll be uncomfortable? The rest of the ride looks nice, and while it probably won't be the park's best coaster, it still looks like it will be fun. Of course, I'll wait until I see it in action until I make my final decision, but as long as it isn't as slow as a Screamin Squirrel, this should be a decent ride. Sure it won't be great, but it is a pretty big coaster for the size of land they had to build it on. -

This is so weird. Why does ACE say it wasn't offered to the group for free? And why does the auction group say it offered it to ACE? Who's right here? What's going on? Also, Carole Sanderson has the crazy. ^Maybe ACE doesn't want their members to know they turned down a coaster that would have been demolished if not bought. Since ACE didn't get the coaster, and had it not been bought resulting in its demolition, some members might think that ACE went against its mission. However, the coaster was saved, and hopefully the new owners can take care of it. V I reread it, and yeah, it doesn't make much sense. I just worded my thoughts poorly. -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, if Kennywood builds something that Cedar Point doesn't have, Cedar Point will just build a larger one when they get the chance. At least the sale went through, and PR is probably one of the best companies to run the park. Their other parks look like great family parks with some good thrill rides, and the Kennywood Company parks will fit in perfectly. -
Finally got to ride El Toro
Airtime&Gravity replied to mp27's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Congratulations on finally riding what could be considered the world's best wooden coaster. El Toro is simply amazing, and while Kingda Ka is a lot of fun, El Toro is many times better. The airtime is incredible, but the ride is so intense, that I found it hard to ride it multiple times in a row. On the other hand, I found Kingda Ka re-ridable, but it could not compare to how awesome El Toro is. Kingda Ka is still a really good coaster though as the launch is amazing, and the view on top is unforgettable. My only complaint about Kingda Ka is the lack of airtime. -
It says it was at the park, not in it, so I'm guessing that this probably happened in the parking lot. The Six Flags parks I've been to make people empty their pockets until the metal detector doesn't go off. As for the story, why am I not surprised that it took place at SFA? This park seems to have a problem lately, and they better fix it.

Yes...I think Have you seen the Incredible Hulk yet?
-
^I was thinking the same thing, and while this is one way to make some money, there are far better ways. They could put up some posters or banners around the park, and it wouldn't look as bad as this. Plus, more people would see them as they would be along the paths, and not on a train that travels through a wooded section of the park away from the view of park guests.
-
^, ^^umm, it's the South, that's why. It does look horrible though, but it is just another way for the park to make money. Hopefully this isn't a thing that begins to show up on other rides, as it would run the look of a ride. Plus, I'm not going to do something just because I saw an advertisement on a coaster. Great photos and report so far JZ, and I'm looking forward to the next installment. SFoG looks like a really nice park, and hopefully I can make it out there in a few years.

Your favorite coaster tunnel
Airtime&Gravity replied to chavslayer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My favorites: 1. Hades - it's very long, and it has a 90* turn 2. Demons - two tunnels with light/sound effects(when working) 3. Cyclone(Lakeside) - fairly long with some turns -
Chimelong Paradise, in Guangzhou, is a large park and zoo that just opened up a new dive machine this year. The rest of the coasters are clones, but it still looks like a good park.
-
^I thought that was SFoG as they had a shooting there last year, or was that SFA again? I'm not surprised that something like this happened as I knew it was bound to happen(not to such a large scale though), but I have to wonder why you'd want to shoplift from a Six Flags park. Yeah they sometimes have some nice clothing, but the rest they sell is usually just crap.

The Best Six Flags Park
Airtime&Gravity replied to Axman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After visiting SFGADV last year, not only is it my new favorite SF park, but my current #1 park. I only spent about two hours in the park, but I had an awesome time. The longest wait was 15 minutes for my first El Toro ride, and everything else was a walk on or a one or two train wait. The staff was fast, efficient, and friendly. Even with the light crowds, they were still running the park like they were expecting large crowds.(I was at the park in its final two hours of operation(7-9) Plus this park has some areas with great theming, some strange architecture, and a decent flat collection. However, due to my time limits, I didn't ride any flats as I wanted to ride the coasters. SFGADV also probably has one of the best coaster selection of any park. The only rides this park needs are maybe a stand-up coaster, a drop tower, and maybe some large flats like a screamin swing or giant firsbee. 2. SFSTL 3. SFGAM 4. SFKK 5. (SF)EG
