  1. Magnum, back-seat, at dusk, last ride of my CP trip on Sunday.
  2. The very back of the park where the Log Flume used to be. Right by Mean Streak. If you look at my pictures (I think page 52?) you can see where the site is in relation to Mean Streak.
  3. As far as the tallest coaster idea, bear in mind that in order to build a structure 450 ft. tall, you have to dig very far down to support that structure. There are so many footers in place already, the idea of going really big isn't supported by the fact that there hasn't been a huge digging project for this area. I agree with the Rita idea.
  4. According to a friend of mine on staff at Cedar Point who works with ride inspections/upkeep, it was a shock that Millennium Force was even running this weekend. It was open on Saturday and went down. It was then open again on Sunday morning until 11:30 a.m. (while I was in line for it) when they ran into problems. The car remained at the top of the lift for the remainder of the day. I don't know the specific problem but Cedar Point had already ordered a new part for the cable lift season prior to the weekend, knowing that it was necessary. However, they tried their best to open the ride as much as possible over the busy Memorial Day weekend. I give CP a lot of credit for opening this ride on Saturday and again on Sunday for the sake of the crowds. Most parks would just shut down the ride until the new parts arrived but CP took a chance so that more people could ride it.
  5. One thing that may not have been show in the picture is the fact that the trough for the bottom of the log flume has not yet been filled in. It's only about 3 or 4 feet deep but it could be a potential splash-down. It is right beside the station and the construction fence if their intention was to make sure that spectators got wet. But the track is definitely Intamin and does not resemble any track from other water coasters out there.
  6. I was at Cedar Point this past Sunday and took a few shots of the construction area as well as a few low-quality pictures of the new track. The track is located outside of the Breaker's Express hotel and the only way to get the pictures was to snap them while riding past in the car. The construction site extends to Mean Streak and involves a large corner area, almost too small for a lift hill. If I had to guess, I would say maybe some sort of a launched coaster without a top hat. As far as the 500 ft. rumor, there is obviously no digging deep enough to support anything going up 500 ft. These pictures should help to get an idea of where the ride will be and shows the obvious Intamin track. -Jonny Incredibly low quality but hey, it was at dusk in a car at 40 m.p.h. Wildlife at the construction site, just for fun. For fun, have you ever noticed the name "Andrea" at the top of the Mean Streak's lift hill? This has been here since 1994. Andrea is one of my close college friends from Sandusky. Her dad works on the Mean Streak and put this here for her 9th birthday. Here is some of the track.
  7. Well, I've been holding off on making my first post for a while now, just taking in what everybody has said on the forums through the summer. But upon seeing this, I can't help but put in my two cents. I have to say that Expedition Everest is going to be THE ride for 2006. I've been tracking the construction (along with most of you, I'm sure) since the attraction was first announced. The detail of the theming inside and out of the mountain is just amazing. Somebody mentioned that there is no way to see the layout but here's something to give you an idea: http://www.wdwmagic.com/animations.htm This is going to be the most engrossing ride of all time and I'd love to see something on The Discovery Channel about it. I was pretty intimidated the first time that I laid eyes on Millennium Force but once we all hit Animal Kingdom and see Everest looming over the entire park, I think that we'll all be captivated by it. -Jonny
