  1. ^ Yeah, which bothers me a little bit.

Seriously, people...especially those of you who work at parks... DO NOT POST anything on TPR unless you have been cleared to do so! It is not worth your job at a park to post something here that goes against the policies that you agreed to when you took a job at a park.

There are plenty of people on TPR who work at parks, and as long as you follow the blogging policies put into place at the park you work at (I'm sure most of the big parks have this), you'll be fine.

I can tell you that *ALL* of the parks read Theme Park Review, and it is not hard to figure out who someone is.

So if you are posting something that is either questionable, you're not sure if you should be posting it, either send us an email first, talk to someone at the park, or just simply, don't post it.

    'Nuff said....

Yeah I agree 100%. Once I saw they were removed I had the feeling that he should not have posted them. Unfortunately is pretty hard to moderate what was and wasn't taken with permission until the park itself speaks up or is very obvious they broke some rules to get the photos.

  2. Well I decided to take the old Guess the coaster idea and change it up a little bit. This little game is where you post a link to a audio file or iTunes song that is played in a roller coasters queue or station and everyone gets to guess which coaster it is from. I know that not all coasters play music so this might go fast but we will see how many coasters and songs we can find. I of course will start off with a semi-easy track.

By the way I will post links to the iTunes Music Store, just listen to the previews since that works perfectly for this game. If you dont have iTunes dont worry it will open in your browser to Apples website "iTunes Preview" where you can still listen to the track without needing iTunes.

    Here is the first track...

The Crystal Method - The Winner

    Good luck!

Oh and Robb or anyone with a better idea on how to post audio links please let me know!

  3. Right now it seems there are some issues with the iPad 2. The first issue they are having is yellow spots on the screen but those will disappear over the next few days since its the glue the factory used to assemble the device and it hasn't yet evaporated. The 2nd issue that people are having is a backlight issue. It seems the backlight is bleeding into the lcd screen around the home button. Many people seem to have the issue s I think I will be holding off on selling my iPad 1st generation until these issues get solved.

  4. I think there are two parts to a ride. The ride itself without any and the ride experience which includes the theming. Theming does help the overall ride experience and it can help make a bad ride better but if the ride itself is bad then its a bad "ride" but it could still be classified as a good experience.

I for one prefer to look at the ride from an experience standpoint but I know some people out there are very technical about the ride itself. It all really depends on your perspective.

  5. Nice little P:TR and welcome to TPR! I am also a fellow Minnesotan though I don't think I am a crazy one. I have always believed that Valleyfair has been underrated. It is a great park and I love having it as my home park. We do in fact need a B&M however as I see it would bring lots of visitors to the park again as well as give it some attention from more coaster enthusiasts around the world.

Sadly though I plan to move down to Florida at the end of Oct so this will be my last full season of enjoying my home park. I do however look forward to my new home parks.

  6. I am planning on applying to the Disney CareerStart program instead of the College Program. Its the same thing basically but for individuals that are not currently enrolled in college that are looking for a way to boost their resumé.

Any suggestions for those in the College Program? Is it a lot of fun and what should I expect if I do get accepted and move down to Florida?

  7. Here are some of things that disappointing me this year and why. The fact the more then half of the rides at cedar point were over rated, especially Mantis. (It would be MUCH better as just a normal B&M sit down).

    THANK YOU!!!! SOMEBODY AGREES!!!!

The only rides that I think are good there are Raptor, MF, Top Thrill, and Maverick. I'm sorry, but although Magnum is a classic IT IS NOT A GOOD RIDE!!! I sat 1st car 1st row, 2nd car 1st row, and 1st car 3rd row. My thighs felt like they were bruised in all three of the seats. All the other rides there are "meh" for me. Gemini, Blue Streak, Mine Ride, Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Corkscrew, Wicked Twister, Disaster Transport, Mean Streak (OW!), Mantis (OW!). Really wasn't impressed both of my TWO visits this summer. Cedar Point, definitely a disappointment for me!

I have to admit that Cedar Point's coaster line up has lost some of it's lustre the more I have travelled and rode lots of great coasters.

Before I went to CP, I thought SFMM was awesome, then I thought SFMM was crap by comparison. Then I started riding the better than MF Intamin Hypers, Pre-fabs, and the great non pre-fab wood coasters (Boulder Dash, Phoenix etc) and CP became far less special to me. I still think Dragster, MF, Raptor and Maverick are outstanding and I loved Magnum until my last visit but none of these coasters make top ten anymore.

And also CP just aren't the one's pushing the coaster envelope anymore, who knows maybe they'll make a comeback in 2012 but I'm not holding my breath.

I Agree. Cedar Point really is a great park and you get a lot of bang for your buck when you go to the park but the coasters are just not the same anymore. I really hope they start to push the envelope again because they really do know how to make great coasters but they just have not done so in the park few years.

I do though really enjoy my time at Coastermainia every year. I just love being at the park even though the coaster have lost their luster for me.

  8. A few years back Steel Venom had some issues with butterflies and the light screen in the station. The butterflies set off the light screen many times during the ride cycle which automatically E-stopped the ride. Maintenance was tired of having to come out to re-set the ride so they resorted to getting a few nets out and having the employees try to catch the butterflies before reopening the ride. It was rather entertaining to watch.

That is the only weird breakdown I have seen. I have been on many ride breakdowns but they are usually simple computer freezes and things like that. The longer times I was stuck on a ride was just mechanical issues light a lift motor dyeing completely or something. Those I can understand since parts just go bad over time. Nothing really weird about that.
