  1. Are you ok boo? I mean you just came out of nowhere in a bad mood... hadn't seen ya in a while! I'm wondering if the only place you see my name is above my avatar and it's spelled 'terrancew_hod', how are you mispelling it? EDIT: My name is spelled correctly thank you. That's like saying a girl named Linda can't have her name spelled Lynda. Won't think about it too much. It's lunch time! Terrance "with an 'A' like Liza with a 'Z'" Weaver
  2. Never said they don't get chances. I said you hardly see them. Do you work in an office? If you do, go back towards your accounting or IT departments and count how many minorities are back there. That's what I'm talking about. Most companies I worked at could have 20 people in their IT department but I would be the only minority not working the phones or doing the data entry. I would be the team leader in one of the areas in charge of modifying Sales Order Entry or accounting systems. It's too much fun to stop! If people can mispell my name, I can mix 'em up! Yeah I do the same with the 50lbs weights.
  3. Joe, I got my start in my career through a minority non-profit organization where I interned at a major corporation during the summer while in college. I did three summers at AT&T. Since such an organization gave me an opportunty to get a start in my career, where you hardly see any minorities (at that time, black men) in any corporate or management positions, I felt like it was only proper to give my time and money to help others who may need help in their careers, not only to mentor youth during their college years but to help with anything the organization may need to support their goals. I also work with a local AIDS foundation and volunteer my time to help set up for their various charity events and fundraisers. Does that help you now? Also cfc, I know what you mean about being up in a gym 5-6 times a week. It's a lot of hard work to do that as well as work, volunteer, date, visit with friends, etc. I mentioned it on another thread but within about 3 months I knocked off 6 percentage points of my body fat and gotten a lot more muscular. I do see a lot of people in the gym as much as me, however it doesn't look like they're making any progress at all. I see a few staring at me trying to figure out what I'm doing in my program, but then I'm there to get some real work done and I think the results really show. Terrance
  4. Wow... Everyone's out of the woodwork now! All this attention for little ol' me! Thanks!
  5. ^^I think this means he can not re-apply for the scholarship, but I'm not sure as the sentence structure is weak. Larry, remember when you said this: Exactly how is correcting grammar helping him make a decision? Besides, you're proofreading and you can't get my name right! Let it go boo and get over it! Anyway, back on topic. Matthew, if you don't want to go to that school, don't go. Doing something you don't want to do is not going to make you happy, no matter how "right" it sounds to others. If going to disney will make you happy go and do it. And if you don't like it, go back to school, preferrably to one you will like. There are other ways to finance your education. Terrance
  6. ^That's really great news! I know I'm still paying for all those years of good eatin. I know in the past I hadn't been really good about my aerobics or situps, so I've been really getting that together... So even though i had the muscle development, it was buried in fat. I did my body fat percentage in january and it was a shocking 22%, but most of it is in my midsection for all that good eatin . I got cornered yesterday by the gym trainers and they did the measurements again. 16%! No wonder I'm starting to get cruised in this place! Most of that percentage was in the midsection (I cut down on all that good eatin'), they could hardly find any fat in my arms or legs. So I'm working on getting more aerobic activity in my program to get to about 13-14% (as well as more situps) so I can be really ready for the summer. I got a few beach parties to attend!
  7. You don't have to explain anything to me, it's ok. Really. You do you. I just saw you do it at least twice before ending your post in "brought out the editor in me".... kinda how I remember it. Nothing else really to say.
  8. No problem. If you had nothing else to do last night but correct sentences, have at it. I got away from my laptop and had some fun. Maybe more people should get out and do the same. The change in perspective is very refreshing. I try to help when I can, and I do volunteer work (like this sunday at 8am!), just so I'm helping to give back and try to make the world a little better. Just trying to go into my 40s a little more upbeat, helpful and friendly. Never seen so many people get that age and bask in their negativity. Besides this is conversation, not a publication. I wouldn't try to bring too much of your work home, it really ages you and makes ya bitter! (ooh another rant)
  9. If at 40 you like being callous towards others instead of helping and beating dead horses, I shall leave you to it. Whack away slightly, politely and if so, all nightly. I got a date. Nitey! Terrance "Happy with his life" Weaver (end of my rant for today)
  10. It depends on what you want to do in life, and that's your decision. If there's a certain field you want to go into that college provides, then go to school. And what will you get out of going to disney and florida? If that's a field you wish to go into that being a disney helps with, then disney will only help your resume later. Also, who's to say that you can't reapply for the scholarship next year? Is it a one-time thing only available to people just graduating high school? And if you gotta get a pell grant or student loan, those options are open for you. For you to get a full scholarship, your grades must be good and if you apply again, i doubt they'll deny you and you may get that scholarship based on your high school transcript. Certainly there's a lot of things to think about; and if you put your mind to it, you can most likely go to disney for a bit and get back in college the next year. Most schools won't penalize you when you take time off and head back to college, especially if you make it seem like you wanted to fulfill a dream and sell it on your application or essay. Good luck with your decision.
  11. I'm going to atlanta for my birthday! I'll probably get to use my play pass from SFMM to get into the park to ride goliath... but just for a while. It's bar hopping time.
  12. To be honest, I was just making a suggestion on how to help someone with a problem. If you have a better solution to this, I would love to hear it. I think these days a lot of young people have different problems and sometime they think they have nowhere to turn to, and I think it's up to older people like you and I to lend guidance to them, rather than making them feel worse or shooting them down. Now I was trying to help. And I really think that's a shame that you would be so callous to other's problems gay or not. And it's not the first time I've seen things of this nature on the board. The last time was when Thrillrideseeker was asking prices in Orlando because he is moving there and so many people were so quick to crack jokes or make light of it (it seems you had a comment and deleted it...hmmm) .... and I decided to answer his question instead. I sure he appreciated that, like anyone who speaks on this forum. No one wants to feel like they don't matter or they aren't worth anything; so I would ask the next time someone thinks something may be funny, think about someone else's feeling for a change before speaking, or just keep it to yourself. And that's my rant for today.
  13. ^yeah, no worse than someone telling you just because you're gay you deserved to be talked about.
  14. ^I'm sure if you send an email to to the ACLU detailing what happened they should tell you what your course of action is. They're good for showing up at schools and getting people in trouble.
  15. I think giving her time will do it and she has to be open to discuss things. I recently told my mom and she's kinda distant right now. But then I told her "Hey you're the one that asked! And don't even give me the guilt trips 'cause you KNOW it never works with me." We've have our rocky relationship ever since my parents' nasty divorce, which of course happened when I was on my own at college and discovering my sexuality... their separation and divorce dragged on for years and I was actually the one that stopped talking to my them because they were dragging me into the junk. So we had already established if they were gonna be in my life it's on my terms. I'm just giving her time. Besides if she thinks finding out I'm gay sent her reeling, wait until she finds out she gonna have a legal son-in-law when my brother marries his boyfriend in Finland in two weeks! I'm gonna need popcorn for that one!
  16. Most of my coaster goals will be accomplished with the Midwest Trip as well. I was trying to go to Dollywood this spring but instead I'm going to Atlanta for my birthday in May; so I can use my Six Flags play pass from Magic Mountain to visit the park in Atlanta for a few hours to ride Goliath. I'm sure Dollywood will be squeezed in before October.
  17. ^Nah. I did have to "pooch" for a bit though. Showing off was last Saturday when I was giving Matt Rush that massage and he almost fell over from those skills. Have to do extra for "celebrities" ya know. He said he would pay ME for a massage if I did it professionally... you know I was on the phone calling all my friends the next day... they were jealous!
  18. A few pics of me... How to draw attention when you're out clubbing... Out clubbing for the night (I'm on the right)
  19. Yay! It's payday and I got my tax refund deposited in my account! So I get to finish paying for the midwest trip next week and start saving for food, drinks and gas at gay disney next month (already paid two weekend passes for a friend and I... $700! Yeouch!)
  20. ^I thought that was florida. On my way to work it was beautiful and then as soon as I got into my office there was a big downpour.
  21. I didn't quite make it through watching that trailer... I got mentally scarred during the trampoline scene. Just evil... Terrance "will never look at the trampoline the same" Weaver
  22. Now that's not right... the outfit or the photoshoot on Smoking Gun! This is what got me the most: But if he was trying to be a lady, what's with the forty ounce? Not very lady-like! Oh and her wig is a mess too.
  23. ^I hated PE too, but because I was so doggone clumsy I kept getting knocked out! I'd wake up and the coach is just standing over me, shaking his head! I did well in all the academic classes though...
  24. Miss Sanjaya wears out those judges (especially Simon) everytime she comes out. That's what they get for putting her and Antonella through. Now they're reduced to talk about his hair and clothes... because they don't have anything to say about his singing! Guess they better hire a call center to flood the lines and call everyone except Miss Thang! Luckily I record the show so i can just skip past her shreikings. I'm sure when she eventually gets voted off, they'll just paint her up and enter her in a Miss Gay America prelim. She'll get high marks in hair and gown but they'll give her a "goose egg" in talent.
  25. I don't have any suggestions offhand, but you can alwayw grab either a consumer reports at Barnes & Noble or car and driver; they may have the car guide still available. Usually the toyotas or hondas have really good gas mileage, although I think once one of the companies (not sure which one) has had some reliability problems as of late. Maybe it's toyota, because my old Rav4 had problems keeping its body molding on and I had to keep taking it back to get fixed. But a lot of companies do have a pretty comprehensive warranty and you may catch a rebate as well.
