^I agree about the supports adding that extra something to the slides. (I'm attempting to play with custom supports too... not well, but I'm trying!) Wasn't sure where you were going with that pool when you started, but everything looks great in your park! I hope to be able to put parks together like this one day. Great work! Terry P.S. I hope you're backing up your files! Figured I'd better start saying that now. -

^Can I say that my head hurts again? No backups of your documents? I think I'll give you the same suggestion as Ghost and it falls right under the guidelines for park threads. Get started on your park and post it after you've made good progress. The concept was ok, but right now all you had to show after two weeks is a deserted field with construction sheds, equipment and one coaster just going vertical... and you lost that. I don't think that qualifies as progress on a park especially when others have done much more on their first posts... nor is it fair to them. And please everyone, learn to do backups of your files after major updates of your park, whether it's to a CD or flash drive. Terry -
Well I spent another day fighting with my coaster... and I think it's winning! Part of the day was spent fixing my coaster after it mysteriously started slowing down and stopped making the course... after it's been working for a week. Next, I worked on trying to set enclose parts of the coaster in Act 1 and get the front of of the coaster themed. Didn't work too well because I didn't finish as much as I wanted, but a big project like this takes time... and especially since I'm such a newbie! Anyway here's some pics before I head out for the night: The coaster is outside for a few seconds before returning inside to the ride station. The fountains will turn on (getting anyone nearby wet!) and a car will exit from the corridor to her left. I also began work on the courtyard adjacent to the ride. The ride exit will pass by this area, since now the Waterbearer is in her proper place. Guests will also be able to go through the garden as well. Also the coaster fanatics will know when a car is coming... This is the only queue now. Another view of the old station. I originally had two stations for entry and exit, but I had a high rate of crashes... guess the mac version is kind of buggy! So I took out the station and I'm trying to thing what to put in it's place. Good thing I wasn't finished with this room! Another look of the previous loop... I still have to add a few scares, but some near misses with scenery ought to get the adrenaline up! A few twists and turns before we loop...

^Already grabbed my copy! I'm in the midst of repairing this helix of death (with three Coronas in my system), but I'm sure I'll be trying to see if I can add few of the items into the coaster I'm working on. Great set of objects! It kind of inspired me to look at some of the custom objects creation tools... probably won't make anything, but if I do it's probably going to be something that um... 10% would want. Derek, let me know if you find out what the fireball event is in your set when you get a chance! Once again, awesome work. Terry "why does my castle look like an igloo" Weaver

Happy Birthday! I got you a stripper! (Hit it sister! And pick it up, you ain't at home!) Well... I didn't say she was real!

^See, you IM'd me with my Barbara Walters comment basically saying I was out of control... now look at you! That's out of control!! Got one more for you: Betty White. May she tuck you in tonight in a Victoria Secrets bra and panties... with wings! (Now that's a visual! Look she gave you a kiss on the forehead!) There would be a lot less spyware and viruses floating around in the internet too! Terry

Most memorable coaster moment of 2008?
terrancew_hod replied to TheHulk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had quite a few fun coasters last year; if I narrow it down to one it would be Winjas "Fear". I was dizzy as heck when I was done, but it was definitely an experience. Thanks Elissa for strongly suggesting that I get on it... I don't like rides that spin... (Robb, I'm still waiting for that hateful video of me getting on that spinning "coaster" that almost made me sick.) Terry -

Question: Once I enclose the ride and make black backgrounds to give it a dark ride feel, should I waste the framerates on custom supports you eventually won't see or devote it to ride effects and scenery? That's what I thought. I'm well aware of Steelworx and I'm using the support killer to remove the supports from the scenery. Anything outside the ride building is fair game for supports (and there is a tiny part outside the castle that will need them), but for the majority of the ride, which is inside and in the dark, it's more of a fantasy so a support will not be needed. And I'm not really going for realism in this ride at this time. As I've said before, I'm placing objects to see if I like them then cleaning them up. The scenes that are more dark ride oriented (and properly lighted) may get the custom supports, but a good portion of of the ride is an attempt to give the feeling of running down corridors, caverns or in the dark, so I doubt seeing a support is going to add anything to it. So in short, if there is a support that needs to show in any part of the the final ride, I'll clean it up with something custom. Also I've been playing around with other rock sets, like shyguy's for other parts of the ride; I just haven't showed those areas. The areas that I'm shown that have these rocks are actually two small areas in the ride and were the quickest to throw a prototype together on. Some rocks have been mixed together to fill in gaps, but I find the rocks I've been using are probably the gloomiest out of the rocks and gives a darker feel to the hell scenes. The tight helix will be redone, so I'll see there can be some different rocks there when I take everything apart... but I'm willing to bet that part of it will be back. See, there is a method to the madness. The lights are DRP Lights 2.0 and the rocks are from composerboy. Terry

^ I'm going to make it a little bigger, but actually it's not going fast enough to cause problems. It was slowed down to view the explosions within a tight space. I'm going to speed up the previous section though so this will need to be bigger. I posted a few pics on the Atari site and the person that made the rocks in my pics said I made good use of them. EDIT: I also added the vaults I created into both ride station areas, so they're coming together quite nicely. The exit station may be able to see the last drop since it's under the same roof, but people being able to see it should give it a bit more excitement. Besides showing a bit of the ride to people just getting off gives nothing away. Terry

I don't think we need to get into the personal stuff; this has nothing to do with what I think is the quality of the thread. Terry "Don't air the dirty laundry" Weaver -
^Well I'm having fun doing it and it keeps me out of trouble on the weekend! I haven't been able to do updates since I'm trying my hand at ride buildings. I spent last night gathering ideas of how I want the building to look, so it's a matter of implementing my ideas. My goal is to try to get at least the front of the ride completed this weekend. So far I'm doing some gothic vaults for the ride stations and have a few castle walls built for the front and getting the walls build up around the coaster to get it from act 3 back to the station. I did get my hands on some more ride events and I'm going to play around with those this weekend as well. Terry

I know I have friends in the adult industry, but if I was in charge, the answer would still be NO. They get enough stimulus packages when they aren't on the clock. But I guess congress needs a good laugh. Only way they could get a meeting with congress is if they are blackmailing them... you know how those politicians get! Besides some people I know has "businesses" that isn't um... legal to get any support anyway. One girl had to sell her car to make the mortgage... but that's more of the mortgage crisis than anything else. Business is down a bit though but people are having it a lot tougher than people (like the owners of the film companies and websites exploiting and making money off of performers. I will say that I was quite shocked to find out what some straight men would do for money! Terry

^Matt, Am I able to say that Liseburg4ever/Puppet is a mess? I'm just checking to see if it's ok. Also if I see him on the Scandi trip @ Liseburg, can I give him a good shake? Don't understand how a person gets banned, tries to rejoin and draws attention to himself doing the same thing that got him banned in the first place... using his common phrase no less. Coasterdude5, Liseburg was just hatin' on you. Terry "this sucks!" Weaver -
Let's start from here. 1. Get your pages together. Make sure your links work. 2. If your site is supposed to go to HPCrazy.com or another site, get that together. 3. Once your initial pages are finished (and uploaded) and the URL is ready, THEN you announce your site with the proper URL. Oh, don't forget to test it thoroughly before you announce it. This way, people can view it and give you any feedback to make it better. I think this whole thread is an exercise in how not to do a project. When you do it backwards, you end up with this confusion. Right now, this is a hot dog's mess. Terry

Not quite! But we sure were rating the nakkid menz. Now, my friends still talk about it and I say "Meh. Have you seen my dark ride coaster?" Terry "Sex? What's that?" Weaver

I saw this when I first woke up and I'm grouchy, so I'm gonna quote myself from earlier in this thread: So: 1. Please don't create another thread. Use this one for the reasons stated above. 2. Don't post any updates until you've made some real progress on your park. I'm sorry but compared to what others with RCT2 have posted in the forum over the last few weeks, I believe what you have is coming up woefully short. Let's compare a few all on the first page of this forum: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/scr15_895.bmp This was this poster's first viewing of the park. Notice how he has paths connecting his rides and a little scenery? Now BelgiumGuy is showing you how it's supposed to be done. Theming, paths, rides... this looks like a real park. And all in his first post. I believe this is what the mods want to see in a first post. Get started on your park and make some progress, then show what you have. Let's find one more. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/3_148.bmp This is from another first post. This member has rides and a restaurant.. and even peeps! But you can see the pattern, right? I mean after about a month, this is what you've shown us: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/scr174_111.bmp Looks like you've fallen back on what we've told you not to do based on the constructive criticism. And I don't think I saw the restaurants that you said you were going to put in. I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't think it's fair for you to keep posting updates like these, quitting then starting over when the others are following the rules and giving much more complete parks. Terry -
I got nostalgic looking at them! I remember creating HTML tables on my first site (in 1997) with the lines still in them, thinking I did something great! But it was all about content; such adult themes were on that first site! Terry

I went to that link and thought: "That's a HARD 17... the poor kid has aged!" I guess one of my pet peeves is announcing a big project to everyone before you actually start. And most of the time these announcements mean nothing because the people then realize how big the scope is then quit. I think it puts a person's integrity in question when they can't deliver what they promise. It's like the coaster I'm working on in the game thread, I was trying my hand at doing different things and I didn't announce anything or present a picture until I had something tangible to show... instead of telling everyone what I was going to do then realizing I don't have the skills to actually implement it and wind up with egg on my face. Also priorities change; what's important now may change next week. So I would suggest to people to announce something after you have something to show, if nothing to keep the expectations realistic.
