Better addition than Full Throttle.

^The water coaster isn't a new ride for Dollywood. It's going to the waterpark next door, Dollywood's Splash Country: http://dw.dollywood.com/riverrush/

Can we look forward to Dollywood making any kind of 2013 announcement at Knoxville's Boomsday this year? I know last year was really fun (despite the technical difficulties) watching Wild Eagle be revealed.

Hey Colin...great news about Thunderhead. Thanks for getting back to me so fast!
-
Congrats Colin! Also, I have a question. I saw in your GCI blog that you're going to Dollywood to do some work on Thunderhead. I'm planning a trip there over Labor Day weekend, so I was wondering if Thunderhead will be down for you guys to work on it during that time. Any idea? Thanks in advance!

I love the John Miller style drops going all the way down to the ground. Everything about how this coaster looks screams amazing so far. Thanks for the tour and photos!

I remember that Mind Bender tv commercial from the 70's. As I recall it had a knight in armor riding the coaster and at the end the knight lifted his helmet to reveal a kid. I've searched the interwebs to find it with no luck, but I would love to see the commercial again. Great photos of what is still my fav Schwarzkopf.

Excellent trip report Divv!

People, don't forget that Dollywood Nights is about to start and will allow for riding coasters in the dark from July 30 - August 12: http://www.dollywood.com/themepark/events/Dollywood-Nights.aspx

This waterslide video trumps anything ever shown on the Travel Channel's "Extreme Water Parks" show. AMAZING! Thanks, Hanno!

We have a Corky's here in Nashville too, but I've never tried it. I think it's a must do now. Love this BBQ update, Larry. Thanks for making me hungry at midnight.

Anton wears red and blue really well! SWEET.

Comic Con 2012...is it already that time of year again?! SERIOUSLY??? Each year I usually try to do a little tie-in with arguably the world's most epic comic convention. So in the spirit of all things comic as well as the new Dark Knight Rises flick, here's an oldie...no I mean an OLDIE. It's AstroWorld's Batman The Escape along with the 1983 park brochure...
R.I.P Batman...
or will you rise again in NY one day?
Sigh
Sorry Disney but this really should've been named Tron-evator. The cars even look like they were influenced by the movie and the evil MCP!
FACT: One can never have too much Schwarzkopf (or Texas Cyclone for that matter).
Whatever happened to the Rapids Nerd?
TRAGIC.

Man, I really miss hanging out in Europe.

I like these updates, Larry. What's the latest on SFStL's drunken barrels ride? Is it *STILL* sitting there dormant?
-
Wow Kennywood's Black Widow looks great. Thanks for those photos, Geauga Dog.
-
Wow, this ride looks awesome and the next best thing to an Anton shuttle loop. Thanks for the report, Bob, and I hope we see a lot more of these pop up.

Unforunately, the Grizzly River Rampage rock work and river path has all been removed now that Opry Mills has reopened. I was there just the past week, and it's just a big green lawn space now sadly.

I would have to agree with your assessment of Balder. You made some really valid points, and while I do think it's a fantastic coaster, it's still just missing something for me personally. One thing's certain, however, and it's that I had a blast on it during TPR's 2008 visit (great trip participants on what is probably my favorite park day I've ever experienced).

Bench at Rye Playland facing the water off the midway away from the rides. Pure bliss.

Anyone intrigued by the forthcoming Wizard of Oz pin? I know it's kind of old news, but will it be a game changer? If it syncs up to Dark Side of the Moon might be the real question.
-
I'm not entirely sure what it's going to bet yet, but doesn't this..................

look like the top of a zero-g roll?
That was the first thing I thought of too. I'm always wrong, so it's probably just for some random curve.

I absolutey love your trip reports! They're so full of life and positive energy no matter the situation, and your photos really show how much you enjoy living no matter what you are doing. Great jump shots too...how in the world do you do those? I'm curious what you found about Balder that didn't live up to the hype. Anyway, thanks for sharing, and I hope you keep doing these reports of your travels as they are easily my favorite to read on TPR.

The stunt show is seriously one of the most messed up things I've ever seen!!! WOW...thankfully you all lived through it to show and tell us about it. Thanks as always for the awesomeness, Robb!

The only thing that would make this better is replacing the chairs with flying scooters...and fire.
