I have been slacking on my updates, but here is a bit of nostalgia from my one and only visit to Cedar Point back in August 2003, exactly 10 years ago this week. Top Thrill Dragster had just opened that year - can't believe it's been 10 years already or that I waited over 3 hours to ride it (boooo to all the breakdowns it used to have)! So here are some TTD postcards I bought on that trip plus an old 1982 CP brochure from my vault...and an extra bonus at the end.

^^ Or as some here like to call it...the metal building \m/ .

^ I would love to see that brochure. Please share.

What exactly is RMC doing to TR? Inquiring minds want to know. I look forward to hearing more about this "transformation?".

Quick question:
I'm going to Dollywood on a vacation with a friend here in a few days. Do they still have that "Get in after 3, next day free" thin it did last year?
-
^Nope. Wild Eagle was the first time. There is an article several pages back that said the announcement would be in August. So soonish.
Ah I missed that, so thanks for pointing it out.
-
^If Dollywood announces this like they did for Wild Eagle, we won't know anything until Knoxville's Boomsday event on Labor Day (09/01/13). Have their other big announcements been on Boomsday?

Hey Peter, great photos! I LOVE that Helix car. WOW! I really hope I can get back to Liseberg to experience this coaster someday. Thanks for showing it to us.
-
Dollywood's and Silver Dollar City's are easily the two best in the world.

I LOVE Japan! I'm surprised TDL doesn't have a mayonnaise flavored popcorn as popular as mayo is there (still can't believe I ordered a mayo pizza in Tokyo without realizing but it was good!). Awesome updates. Love it! Thanks Robb.

Wow...super fast responses guys. Thanks for all the help with finding Meteor (glad to know the name & manufacturer now)! Great to see the vids and diagram (thanks for embedding the vids, Peter). I really enjoyed this ride as a kid. Yes, it really was exciting to climb the stairs and choose which circle to sit on. Bill, that's a great analogy to the fancy Scrambler wedding cake haha. It truly was a gorgeous ride to see operating in person, and a ton of fun to ride. Wish these rides were still being made today.
EDIT to add I can't think of anywhere else on the net I could post a question like this and get such fast accurate replies including links, a mechanical diagram, AND videos. TPR members truly are the best!

I'd like some help knowing the name (and manufacturer if possible) of this rare flat ride shown here at the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. No, it's not a Watkins Hustler. There were 3 large platforms with benches. This ride came with a carnival to my small town in Alabama when I was a kid, and it's one of the first flats I can ever remember riding, so I hope someone here can help me. Thanks!

^I can't rightaway spot an Intamin ride though...
At one time Schwarzkopf and Intamin worked together. You can see how the companies mixed in this Intamin ride catalog: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1230545#p1230545

What's wrong with the Hannibarrels that the ride can't just be fixed and reopened?
-
Oh yes the Japanese ice houses! Those were such a relief. Thanks for the photo, Bill, and have a blast for me!
-
Loads of retro Schwarzkopfian/Intamin goodness in this thread. Thanks for sharing.

Japan is absolutely tops in the most amazing places I've ever visited with Robb and Elissa, & friends, and here's a postcard from my first ever TPR trip back in '07. Thanks again Robb, Elissa, and friends I made on this trip. I'm quite envious of all you current TPR Japan trip participants!
Mind that red button, Chuck!

Great recap of all your adventures in Mexico, Bill. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it all immensely. Happy belated 60th too by the way!

Have not been to KW in ages but your pics make me anxious to get back there again and also to a first time Waldameer visit. Thanks for sharing!

I think that the two French parks, Futuroscope and Puy Du Fou, which placed in the top 20 Euro parks was the biggest surprise for me since I can't recall ever hearing about them before until now.

^There are single rider lines for Mammoth and Wildebeest too.

The facial expressions from the Chinese on FOM are the best! Nice airtime shots...love seeing the road wheels lifting! Thanks for sharing, Hanno.

^ Danke Thri!!er. Glad you enjoyed this update.
I have seen a lot of people comment that Kingda Ka is not as good as TTD, but since KK was regretfully broken down on my one visit to SFGAdv, I would love to know why some people prefer TTD over KK.
