^^ Yeah...Disney already did Huck and Finn back in the 90's. How can you not remember JTT's awesome performance in that movie!?!?
I agree with the fact that the islands need some sort of makeover (I'm including Magic Kingdom's here too) but I really don't think that Pirates is the way to do it. I would love to see them make the islands more like those crazy european obstacle courses that you see in their theme parks.

Forget about WhiteCastle or any of those other places...take me to a Steak n Shake! I hit the one in Sandusky every time I go down to Cedar Point, or at the Cross Roads near Disney.
I am so excited about everything on this trip, it's ridiculous.

Wow...coaster survivor would definitely work! Force a train full of people to ride a Vekoma for as long as possible, last one alive wins! I give the winner about 2 hours tops. Either that, or we just vote people off the bus as we go along forcing them to find their own way to the next park.

^^ DUDE! I love boomerangs! Don't know what would be better...an SLC tour or a Boomerang tour. Tough choice...sign me up either way!
And seriously snuggles, in case you didn't pick it up yet, the 2008 information won't be released until next summer, after the 2007 trips are underway. Looks like you'll have to get some patience.

To get by in this world you've got to have a good sense of humour and be able to make fun of yourself every now and then. People that can laugh the little things off are the ones that allow themselves to make the best of a bad situation.

Still not sure if I'm going to get the MAXX pass.
Chances are, the only time I'm going to travel to any parks other than PCW will be on the TPR Mid-West trip, in which case the only way I'd use the pass is if I go to PKI for an extra day on either end of the trip. And I'm definitely not going for the plus pass just to hit Soak City while at Cedar Point...that's such a HUGE jump in price.
Only way I really see myself getting the MAXX pass is if for some unforseen reason I can't do the Mid-West trip and get forced to explore Ohio on my own.

I love that we have some seriously creative and talented people on these boards, and that you guys aren't afraid to show it!
Great stuff Roy! Can't wait to see more!

^ And it's for times like that I'm glad I'm only 5'7"!
Actually...even then I had to yank pretty hard on my Millenium Force belt last trip down there. First time I ever came close to not fitting on a coaster, I was shocked. I'm hardly the body size that should be worried about such things.

I totally forgot about the Flash Mountain tribute too!
Thanks for getting us all that clip Robb!

I only caught the ending, right when homer opened up the bottle of champagne, but what I did see was hilarious!
Long live animated coaster nerds!

I'm getting more and more excited about going on this Mid-West trip now! I REALLY hope that it doesn't have to go to a lottery!
The only questions that I have so far are really only related until closer to the trip once the group forum has been opened up, so I'll just continue to hold off until then! Robb and Elissa, you guys have been great at giving us every imaginable (ok, almost every) piece of information we need, and people have been asking some great questions too. Keep up the good work everyone!

Glad to see a few other people from the Toronto area that are TPR members!
-
^ I wouldn't be surprised if alot of people from North America were planning on doing that exact same thing. I know atleast that I was planning on going from Toronto to LA, going to Disneyland, Magic Mountain, and Knott's, then carrying on to Tokyo.
But unfortunately, the trip is out of my price range for the time being, so I'm just going to stick with the Mid-West trip. Next August can't come soon enough.

Yeah, so that kid was pretty much saved by his double chin.
Sweet.
It honestly did look like the only reason he didn't fall off was because his chin caught that restraints...lucky he didn't break his neck that way.

My solution for putting up with people who snore (or talk in their sleep if that's the case) is put on some headphones and listen to music to fall asleep. Works like a charm for me.
I'm really glad to see some other Canadians planning on doing the Mid-West trip. Geographically speaking the parks aren't too far away from Toronto but it would still be really difficult for me to go out and do all these parks on my own.
And to roasted_marshmellow, you're right, Pay Pal totally screws us over on the exchange rate...but then again so do the banks and credit card companies. Drives me nuts that the traded rate is always about 2% better than what you end up paying.
-
Just sent in my deposit! I assumed you wanted US funds...couldn't really find anywhere it specified that.
I am SO stoked about going on this trip! I was originally hoping for Japan, but with buying myself a car there is no way I'd be able to afford that. The Mid-West trip is way more affordable and will still be absolutely amazing.
Cedar Point is the only park on the trip that I've been to before, and most likely the only one I would've gotten to on my own. I can never talk anyone into going on a coaster trip with me, so you guys are my only hope!
-
What gift shop did you get that T-Shirt from? I honestly NEVER find any good coaster shirts at PCW, and I go there alot.
Figures too that th e one day some other enthusiasts are at the park I decide to go south of the border (just to the US, not that freaky ass park) to Darien Lake. Had to visit it atleast once while it was still a Six Flags park.
Glad to see that you still had an enjoyable day at the park. And you're right, as long as you realize that this is a park full of Arrow's, Vekoma's, horrible woodies, and a togo death machine, than you can still have a great time!
-
^ That's exactly why I wanted to do the Japan trip next year. Yes it is ALOT of money for someone my age, but I will be at the perfect time to do it. I would be really hard pressed to ever talk someone into doing a coaster trip to Japan with me, and wouldn't want to do that on my own, so a group trip is the perfect solution.
I could do the Mid-West on my own, but a group trip would be alot more fun, so I would atleast like to do that one. Cedar Point is the only park on the trip that I have actually been to. My parents aren't into coasters so I still haven't been to alot of American parks.
-
Turns out that my parents car I had been using finally kicked the bucket today...so now I've got to buy my own car (Chevy Cobalt SS!) asap.
This will most likely force me to bail on Japan, but I'm still REALLY hoping I can do the midwest trip.
Also, I was wondering. Once the flyers are announced, is there going to be a grace period between when they are released to when you will start accepting deposits, or is it going to be an immediate sort of thing. Just thinking that alot of us might not get to read the flyer and send our deposit RIGHT away, as I'm sure that midwest trip will fill up on day one.
-
Exactly, the geniuses just keep on signing up. *edit* I clearly didn't read the last address close enough the first time around...classic.
Anyway, just wondering if you guys found the best deal for the UK trip at the last minute, or if booking in advance saved some cash.
I'm jumping way ahead of myself here, but I'm just so excited about it that I can't help it!
-
Okay, since you seem eager to help, see if you can find anything with a 3 day stop over in Los Angeles. I would ultimately like to go down there on the tuesday, and then continue on to Tokyo on the friday.
Thanks alot for the help though! I'm trying to do a search on this myself right now too.
*edit* after doing a search myself with the qualifications I'm looking for and based off of June 2007 dates (that's the farthest Expedia.ca will go) I ended up with a price of $2000. Not too bad.
-
WOW! Only $1200? That's awesome, to help myself get a rough ball park figure of the cost of the trip I looked around for some flight prices and got $2200 from Toronto to Narita.
Has anyone been successful in finding information on flights that actually go on the proper days yet? I was using information from July 2007 flights figuring that would be as close to the accurate price that I could find for the time being.
And the comment I made before about not being able to get time off. It was more in regards to getting time off AFTER next year. As in I should be able to get time off to do the Japan trip, but for many years after that it'd be real tough. So, in those years I'll just have to take the shorter trips!
-
Meh, don't know about the squid flavoured one, as a Canadian I was looking forward to some Maple Syrup popcorn!
Honestly though, I don't think I'll be able to get away for a long period of time like this for years to come. I've got college to finish up and then I'll be working like a mad man.
-
I am SO in for the Japan trip! I've been planning it out for the last few months actually, want to stop in California on my way over to Tokyo.
The cost, no matter what it is, isn't a problem, I'll pay whatever it takes. The only thing I'm worried about is being able to take 3 straight weeks off of work for the trip, but I'll find some way around that.
This should be such an amazing trip...I can't wait already!
What Park Is This?
in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!

^ I always knew about the circuit AND the park...just not that the park was that tied in with the circuit. I just assumed that it was a random park located right near the track.
