  1. Now, actually, it's the most popular part of the park. It is home to an awesome waterpark that is a major draw for the park.
  2. I completely agree. I would have rather seen other rides leave, but X-Flight and Steel Venom are the two that make the most sense to remove due to their problematic natures and high maintenance costs. Personally, I feel that last year was the turning piont for the park. The attendance may not have improved, but the people in attenedance at the park were of a much different group than when it was Six Flags. There were more large families, ranging from grandchildren to grandparents. The people at the park in 2006 also seemed to be having much more fun. Most of the people leaving the park had a smile on their face and it was visible that they had thoroughly enjoyed their day at the park. I think the next five years will see a large improvement in the park's attendance levels.
  3. Kidcoaster, I'm not so sure trim brakes would work on Villain. The ride has quite a few spots where any less speed could mean valleying, such as going up into the second turnaround and going up into the third turnaround. It would seem that there isn't anywhere they could place trims without risking a roll back.
  4. It really is shame that Six Flags let the ride get so bad. It is an amazing, air-filled ride when it's running well. I'm not one to complain about roughness on coasters, but even Villain makes me uncomfortable. I still ride in the last seat over and over again whenever I go, however.
  5. They may not be the best at maintaining wooden coasters, but Villain's problems started long before Cedar Fair took over. The biggest problem being the trains. The ride never really tracked well and tore itself apart and was never fixed until now. I'm confident that Cedar Fair will make the ride awesome agian, as Raging Wolf Bobs is an awesome ride after its retracking, even with the G trains.
  6. To the person that asked when Raptor valleyed, it happened during morning tests. The train didn't make it up into the MCBR and stopped at the bottom of the cobra roll. The train sat there until after close. It was kind of awkward seeing the train just sitting there. My friend and I went over to ride, and we saw that it wasn't running (my guess was due to wind). We decided to ride Cedar Downs after that, and while on the ride, I noticed that the my theory was correct and that it had valleyed due to the high winds.
  7. Exactly. From what I've heard, the ride has the classic "rough" woodie feel and that makes the ride much better.
  8. There's actually a technical reason for the long banking transitions. The ride opened with 8-seater PTC trains, which aren't articulated like the GCI cars and Intamin's wooden trains. If I remember right, the maximum banking change was around 1 degree for every foot of track with the eight seater trains. Now, the ride operates with six-seater trains which can bank slightly faster, but there'd obviously be no reason to change the ride. From what I've heard, you really have to ride it (preferably at night)to get the full experience of the ride. The ride gets mixed reviews however. Some love it while others hate it. I feel that when I finally get to ride it, I'll love it, as I love the sensation of speed and the fact that it is secluded out in the forest is amazing in my opinion.
  9. Thanks. I wanted to make the most realistic recreation of this coaster as I could as the only Beast recreations I have seen online have been relatively poor. The lengths were way off (one wasn't even 5,500 feet) and the way the track was designed was too smooth. The beast has many straight sections of track with zero lead-ins. I think I achieved getting the feeling of an out-of-control Beast running through the woods and I'm glad to hear that you really liked it.
  10. This is my recreation of the beast at King's Island. This has been an on-and-off project that started shortly after No Limits came out. This is the fifth version I have made of The Beast, and the only completed version. Overall, I am very happy with the way the ride turned out. I built it based on only two videos as I've never been on it, and on the statistics listed on RCDB. The ride is designed to be a recreation of The Beast in its current state with the magnetic trims and the elimination of the MCBR. Overall, the length of my recreation is 7,286 ft., only 73ft. away from the true length of Beast, which is 7,359 ft. (not 7,400 as commonly stated). This is less than a foot of error for every hundred feet of track, which is the maximum limit I allow in recreations. I hope you all enjoy on this recreation of The Beast the beast (mine).nltrack Enjoy Two Lifts on The Beast
  11. The aerial photo on the website you linked to is not of the Flyer Comet. If I remeber right, that was the coaster that was destroyed in a hurricane, resulting in the construction of the Flyer Comet. The Flyer Comet is not an out-and-back either. It is a figure-eight layout that has six turnarounds and a tunnel dubbed the "black hole" by the park.
  12. I drove by (never went in) Chippewa Lake Park and got some pictures of the coaster. A helpful hint is that most maps have it on the wrong side of the raod as it really is. As for Whalom Park, the Flyer Comet was my first coaster and I can remember it being loads of fun. The height used to scare me, but now I've become accustomed to the giants at Cedar Point. From what I've seen and heard, the Flyer Comet is still in relatively good condition for having sat there, untouched (other than the lift motor being removed) for a few years. I recently found my 1995 season pass to Whalom Lake. It used to be like $25 back then. I really miss going to the lake and riding the slides and then heading over to Whalom Park and marathoning on the Flyer Comet. The park had a lot of great history and fun rides, such as the funhouse. The rotating hallway was always fun. I really hope something positive comes out of the former Whalom Park. It would be a shame to see all those classic rides be turned into scrap.
  13. I'll join. Hopefully I'll be able to make a good classic woodie.
  14. It stops for a few seconds on the first hill. Watch the video of the ride on this site and you will see it does indeed have a holding brake on the first drop.
  15. I'm one of those people that has a fear of heights (although it doesn't stop me from riding whatsoever), so Dragster is worth up to an hour wait for me because it's a huge rush. It's not my favorite coaster out there, but it is one of the most adrenaline pumpning rides I've ever been on. I always try to ride it at least twice while I'm at the Point.
  16. Layout wise, yes, since they are recreations of the same ride. If you're referring to the track being stolen, you've got to be kidding me.
  17. The longest I've ever waited for DD was 45 minutes, but that was only because they were adding the second train to each side. Besides that time the longest I've ever waited was 5-10 minutes, front included.
  18. Thanks you two. The last drop was one of the reasons I really liked this coaster and wanted to recreate it. Coasterdude, go to settings and make sure you have scenery turned on so that when you ride it, the trees show up.
  19. This is my recreation of the former (unfortunately) Puritas Springs Cyclone. The ride is designed to be as realistic as possible, so don't be surprised to see sudden transitions and many perfect radius hills and turns with zero transitions or straight track in between. The ride doesn't let up until the end where the train plummets down the final 90 foot drop into the ravine and slams riders into their seats before sending them skywards again and into the brake run. This ride was John Miller's answer to the question of why he was afraid of anything outside of out-and-backs. The ride lasted 30 years before ultimately being closed down along with the park in 1958. I hope you all enjoy your ride on what was considered one of the best terrain coasters ever to have existed. Puritas Springs Cyclone.nltrack Have fun! overview of ride
  20. Thank you for taking the time to actually look at the two. I decided that I was going to start posting coasters here, and hopefully everyone else will trust me. I know that I am new here, so you guys don't know my personality and what not, but if any of you were members of the former coasters2k, I used to post over there, and that's what helped me get better in No Limits. I've posted once on CoasterCrazy, but the ride I made came out kind of pumpy and jerky, so I started to redo it and will maybe post it on this site. It was called Loco and I'm almost done redoing it to be faster, more compact, thrilling, and a heck of a lot smoother. I will be posting my recreation of the Puritas Springs Cyclone later today and hopefully that will go over better than this coaster. Cyclone Mine
  21. Yeah, definately not. Try looking at the two together. I made this myselft every foot. It looks very similar, but that's because they are recreations of the same layout. Please, try looking at the two again. Can someone tell me how to take a picture in the editor so I can prove that they are absolutely different.
  22. This is my recreation of the terrifying Revere Beach Lightning. I hope you all enjoy it. Revere Beach Lightning 2.nltrack
  23. This park used to be my home park and I used to go there 3-5 times a week. I first rode the Flyer Comet when I was 3 and I truely miss the old park charm that was felt while walking the midways. I'd give anything to have the Flyer Comet reopened as it was a great little coaster. I really hope there is some sort of happy ending for the Flyer Comet.
  24. I'm 17 and my first roller coaster was the Flyer Comet at the now defunct Whalom Park. Despite being nothing impressive, I loved that coaster and really miss it now that I'll never see it running again.
  25. On the Cedar Point site it says that they're having electrical problems, whatever that means. I found it funny that on Memorial Day, MF was down, yet Dragster was running outstanding. Not once did I see it roll back or break down when I was there from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. I got to ride it twice, the second time of which I only waited 25 minutes. The trains were dispatching regularly (except for when stupid guests won't put their arms down). I was a little dissapointed about MF being down, but all the more reason for me to go back multiple times during the summer.
