  1. Señor Coconut is awesome! He has an album of tiki lounge Kraftwerk covers that's bonkers, and he's one half of Flanger—an electro jazz duo that I love.
  2. Hands down my all-time favorite flat ride. I've done Orleans Orbit at California's Great America more times than I can count; the Enterprise at the Washington State Fair, but you must have a partner to ride that one so I've only done it a few times; and Zulu at World's of Fun. That was the first Enterprise I rode with sliding doors instead of the top that you pull down over you.
  3. The coaster looks like fun although the rest of the sports ball land holds zero interest for me. The inverted drop off the lift hill reminds me of Drakken Fire.
  4. I couldn't agree with you more. That final section after the overbank turn was pure torture. It rattled every bone in my body and every tooth in my head. It was dreadful. My partner had to sit for around 15 minutes after riding it because it gave him a headache and flat out refused to ride it again.
  5. I'm in the minority here about Prowler's ridability. I'm a lover of wooden coasters so I expect some level of roughness and in Prowler's case the roughness was walking the line between being ridable and unridable. I found it uncomfortably rough, more than usual for a woodie, but not painful or unridable. Although, I can see where others are coming from about it's ridablity.
  6. Awesome! I was just there two weeks ago for the first time ever as well. Every ride was a walk on so we covered the park in no time. We bought fast lane passes online weeks ahead of time and were bit bummed that we didn't need them but better safe than sorry. I found Timberwolf to be absolutely painful—moreso than Prowler. It hurt sooooooooooo much from beginning to end. Even the new section couldn't save it from being flat out unrideable. I did it a second time in the back and it was even worse. I loved Prowler's speed. It was relentlessly fast from start to finish but incredibly rough as well. I didn't find it painfully rough or unrideable rough but it wasn't pleasant, that's for sure. Mamba surprised me. I loved it! Or at least the first half. I felt the back seat had some decent ejector air over the two hills and the hang time in the front seat seemed to last forever. The bunny hills on the return were between uncomfortable and painful in the back with some mild floater air in the front and middle. We rode it at least a dozen times, mostly in the front. Partriot was alright. I'm not a huge fan of these type of coasters because they all seem to ride the same in my opinion so waiting fr more than 15 minutes to ride it would be too long for me. Spinning Dragons was a fun family coaster. It seemed to spin faster the heavier the riders are and there's a decent airtime hill at the end. Overall, I thought WoF was a cute park with a decent collection of coasters and classic flat rides. I spent a lot of time on the Trioka (Mustang Runner) and Enterprise (Zulu) as well. I haven't seen or ridden either one of those rides since I was around 13.
  7. Oh wow! This brings back so many memories for me. I was raised in San Jose and lived there until my late 20s. I recall there were quite a few of those incomplete freeway flyovers. The one I remember the most was the Highway 101/Interstate 280/680 flyover. The Whizzer was my first "big boy" rollercoaster. I remember it was called Willard's Whizzer at the time. I was too chicken to ride Turn of the Century. By the time I got over my fear it was transformed to The Demon. The troika, called Triple Play, was my favorite flat ride. I would spend half the day re-riding it. I was also obsessed with riding the Yukon Yahoo bayern curve. Thanks for sharing!
  8. Wild Waves and Enchanted Village (all of the coasters are pretty sad): 1. Timberhawk (short woodie with zero airtime or thrills) 2. Klondike Goldrusher (average wild mouse) 3. Kiddie Coaster 4. Wild Thing (possibly the roughest, most uncomfortable Arrow corkscrew I've ever rode, and they have the audacity to run you through it twice!)
  9. oh. So that's what happened with your tours. It's too bad. I was saving up to go on one. I can totally relate to your rant. Sometimes I feel like a crotchety old man over how annoyed I get with people's self-entitlement. I guess you just can't have nice things.
  10. I'm intrigued, but I don't fully understand the concept. The POV animation cuts off when it starts to go backwards. So, does a transfer track send the train across a different course on the backwards return? I don't understand how it'll go down the lifthill.
  11. I must say, I was a bit underwhelmed by the layout of the coaster while it was under construction but seeing the POV of this thing in action is INSANE. That's what I get for judging a book by its cover. I'm dying to ride it. Too bad it's on the other side of the country from me.
  12. Perhaps I'm not as jaded when it comes to coasters as others because Fury 325 looks like a whole lot of terrifying high speed fun to me. So much so, I'm flying out to South Carolina this summer to visit my sister and we're driving straight to Carowinds to ride it. I can't wait.
  13. Wow. This gets better and better looking with each new update. I forsee a trip to SFMM in my near future.
  14. There's a fun article about him in this month's mental_floss that's worth reading. According to him he starts his day with a bowl of oatmeal and only allows himself 15 slices of pizza a week – which he tracks with an app. Next time I'm in NYC I'm definitely going to do one of his tours.
