  1. Bill I have a question about Sky Ride. When we were there last year the first few days in July, the lines for Sky Ride looked like they would be about 15-20 mins long, it was packed with people. Seemed silly to wait when the ride doesn't even go that far. Is it really a people eater and we should have waited? We could walk from Gatekeeper to Maverick in about 11 minutes. Just curious. We were limited on time during our visit otherwise would have gone on it for funsies. Both the sky ride and train routes can be faster walking than riding, if you account for waiting. The difference is made up in the few minutes you get to relax while riding instead of walking. This, but Sky Ride is a ridiculous people eater the way they run it. They have an incredible crew and average less than 10 seconds per dispatch per side. I just really enjoy the views and the experience of riding it though. It's the oldest ride of its kind in the country.
  2. They're replanting them but I still think it's funny that this is the year they decide to preach about using less paper towels to save trees. Lol
  3. Just got off SORA. They just spent 5 minutes telling us about the importance of preserving trees and how Six Flags is trying to communicate that message this year. They want us to stop using paper towels to save trees because "every little bit helps". ... just think about that for awhile. Let is sink in.
  4. Ask for a cup of water. It's free. This works at every park in America.
  5. The park is huge but I never felt they had a problem with transportation rides. They have a ridiculously high capacity train ride and a ridiculously high capacity Sky Ride that can get you from the absolute back to the absolute front and you'll only have to walk for like 2 minutes down the midway by Iron Dragon.
  6. Even if the park might be slightly crowded why wouldn't you go? We're going today... Can't wait. First visit of the yea... well season. Lol
  7. They still exist??? I had one of those like 10 years ago. I linked it to my Freewebs site, so bad-ass.
  8. Are they running all the trains on the Holiday in the Park coasters? If not it's totally understandable but I figured I'd ask.
  9. Wait Bizarro had good ops? So like, 11 minute dispatches instead of 12?
  10. I'm disappointed, I thought you were about to plug Knoebels again. Oh well, I guess I just did.
  11. I assure you that the theming on Green Lantern was not done quickly. Every inch of blacktop was painstakingly placed by the Six Flags imagineers to ensure it was as immersive as possible. They spared no expense, the rumor is they hired the same company responsible for the Nitro theming.
  12. I don't know guys I tend to agree with the 16 year old who says it's not a big deal. He makes a much stronger argument than the person who actually has a daughter in this exact demographic who's actually impacted by it. It's easy to say it's not a big deal when (I think I can safely say) it doesn't have any impact on you personally.
  13. Wood is wood to the GP. Don't think for one minute that they care about who made it. They will likely think that Dollywood made it (we know this as in house production). I think you missed his point, though. Lightning Rod will be far smoother than a traditional woodie, and the GP is not so stupid as to think: "Ow! This is rougher than the new one!" Oh yes they will. There will be talks of "they're tearing out Thunderhead because it's so rough". You're giving the GP waaaaaaay too much credit I love how enthusiasts refer to non enthusiasts as "the GP" in a condescending way and mock their lack of knowledge about coasters the day after this page happened. What's worse? People who ride coasters occasionally because they're fun and don't know much about them because they just want to have fun and they don't care or people who obsess about them yet still post dumber things than "the GP" could ever dream of and do it with incredible confidence and authority?
  14. Random but BGW Fans posted a great piece on the massive multi-year restoration project of Le Scoot. Apparently this ride was originally going to be removed for Griffon due to it's laundry list of maintenance problems almost 10 years ago. Saving it required a large budget and a 3 year restoration plan which was just completed. It's amazing to see such an incredible commitment to this classic Arrow flume. Link to Article
  15. No, you don't understand. Some of those parks have anniversary years coming up and they've been neglected by the chain. I'll clarify that this is sarcasm because as dumb as my post is there are people that will legitimately say and believe what I just said.
  16. No they don't, especially not wood coasters where you can easily replace track sections and running rails whenever you want to. It all depends on maintenance. Exhibit A:
  17. I've been hearing for years how much rougher Thunderhead is getting, if it's true that's a shame but I've also heard enthusiasts talk about how rough Alpengeist is getting, how rough Twister at Knoebels is getting, how rough Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England is getting, how rough El Toro is getting and how rough Gatekeeper is so I'm just going to ignore all enthusiast opinions on all coasters until I ride them again for myself. It's a much better way to live your life, lol.
  18. I exercise the 3 second rule generally BUT the 20-30 minute rule applies for Holiday in the Park hot chocolate. No wonder there were so many protein spills on Nitro during HITP. It's delicious but what the hell???
  19. Hahahahaha tell me again, what is the ride called?
  20. Having to make an extra trip to Dollywood is never a bad thing.
  21. I wish I could help out on this one but I'm honestly not sure. The best option might be calling the park.
  22. A bunch of strobes, lights and loud music to distract you from how crappy Trabaunt style rides are.
  23. Lol to Boldikus' credit we did ride Nitro for basically 2 hours without getting up in January when it was in the high 20's. He has endurance, I blame the Summer Shandy.
